00:18because he's sort of a very big personality
00:22he got in a bar fight the first night
00:24he was elected to Congress
00:27and he is sort of a hit with the ladies
00:30GQ did a cover story about him when he was first elected
00:34youngest congressman ever
00:37so he's kind of a celebrity congressman
00:40and he's running for Senate at a very young age
00:42at 32 years old
00:47he's not just being a politician for the sake of public service
00:51he has kind of a deep character issue
00:55that's driving him to do this
00:56and the meeting of this woman who he falls in love for
01:00makes him feel that maybe he doesn't need to be doing that
01:02for the wrong reason anymore
01:07so he's kind of got a choice
01:08does he listen to the hand of fate
01:12does he listen to the men in hats
01:14who say if you go after her
01:18there's going to be big problems
01:20or does he follow his heart and go after her
01:26they're a higher power
01:27they're an expression of a higher power
01:29so it's not like some government agency
01:32that doesn't want you to do something
01:33they have powers that go beyond human powers
01:38and they're tolerant of our sort of foibles and weaknesses
01:44and attempts to live the kind of life
01:47that we want to lead
01:49to lead a life where we make our own choices
01:52up to a point
01:53but if you start acting in a way
01:56that is threatening their kind of larger plan
01:59for the world
02:00then they'll bring the hammer down
02:06the special challenge of this movie
02:09I think was to really photograph New York
02:12in a way that
02:14it's hard to say it's never been done before
02:16but it's very very rarely
02:19I think as a movie taken advantage of New York
02:22as much as we did
02:24in terms of the visual imagery that it provides
02:28it made it a real bitch to shoot
02:30but it was I think it paid off
02:36I think the city looks like a really magical place
02:39it's filmed very very realistically
02:43but you just realize how much incredible beauty there is
02:47natural and obviously man-made in this city
02:51when you watch the movie
