00:02As tensions escalate in the Middle East and disruptions in global oil supply begin to worry
00:08energy markets, concerns over India's fuel security are once again in focus.
00:17But in a small village of West Bengal's West Burdavan district, two rural families have
00:24revived a sustainable solution that predates modern fuel systems.
00:31Cooking gas made from cow dung.
00:35In Gopalpur Gram Panchayat of Kankasa block, residents Kshetranath Gaurai and Amjangan Gaurai
00:42have been using traditional biogas plants to meet their daily cooking needs.
00:49Owning several cows, the Gaurai families have a steady supply of dung.
00:54For these families, the system means cooking fuel without depending on costly LPG cylinders.
01:02We get cow dung gas easily.
01:04We put the dung into the chamber and stir it.
01:07The gas collects in the lower chamber and flows through pipes to the stove.
01:12It costs us nothing.
01:14However, the biogas structures are aging and require repairs.
01:22I have four cows and make fuel gas from cow dung.
01:25It is connected to the oven through a pipe.
01:28Cooking and heating water is easy, but the gas storage structure is very old and needs renovation.
01:36At present, only two households in the village use this system.
01:39But the families believe that with government support, a larger plant could supply biogas
01:46to the entire village.
01:47The local administration has also taken note.
01:51Officials say they will soon visit the village to assess whether the model can be expanded on
01:57a larger scale.
02:00At a time when global energy uncertainty is rising, this small rural experiment shows how
02:07traditional eco-friendly solutions could still play a role in securing everyday energy needs.
02:13So far, let's begin with your mind.
02:13Let's see.
02:13So, let's go ahead and see what's possible.
