00:04I've been looking for years for an opportunity to put Titanic back on the big screen
00:09because that's really where it belongs
00:10so we started to explore the idea of converting Titanic to 3D
00:14the question was when do we do it
00:16and I always felt that the centenary of the real sinking
00:20would be a perfect opportunity
00:28the movie is about relationships and our feelings for each other
00:31and so parents were taking kids
00:34and kids, adult kids were taking their parents
00:38it was this transgenerational sharing kind of experience
00:41and people were really choosing who they were going to re-experience the movie with
00:45and I actually think it could work the same way in this re-release
00:51you have a gift, Jack
00:52you see people
00:54I see you
00:57Titanic's my baby
00:58so, you know, of course I'm going to roll up my sleeves
01:00and get involved in every step of the process
01:03we started with how do we make Titanic everything that it can be
01:07before we put it in 3D
01:08so we cleaned it up and made it as pristine as possible
01:11before we even started the conversion process
01:14so if you even watch it in 2D
01:16it looks more amazing, I would say, than it did in 97 when it was first released
01:233D definitely enhances small human interaction
01:26intimate moments are very powerful in 3D
01:30because you feel like you're really there
01:32when the ship docks, I'm getting off with you
01:35iceberg right ahead!
01:37converting a film to 3D is not a magic one
01:39you have to create everything
01:41when there's no 3D information from that original moment of photography
01:45I wanted it to be the equivalent
01:47to what it would have looked like if we had actually shot it in 3D
01:50so if I'm going to do a conversion
01:52it has to live up to that standard
01:54it's so gorgeous and lush
01:56and you feel like you're in these amazing spaces on board the ship
02:00or you're right there going through the jeopardy
02:02that Jack and Rose go through
02:03do not let go of my hand!
02:07and it really kicks it up to a whole other level
02:14I think Titanic will have a different meaning
02:18to people who saw it 14, 15 years ago
02:20that have gone on in their lives
02:22maybe gotten married
02:23maybe they have children
02:24maybe they're going to look at love and life
02:28and what has meaning differently now than they did then
02:32maybe it'll be less about the glow of romantic love
02:36which is a teenage idea
02:37and more about that sense of duty
02:40and what we're here on this planet for
02:42and what we mean to each other
02:44and all those things
02:44that older audience members get out of it
02:47so Titanic always has something for you
02:49no matter what your age
03:06you
03:07you
03:07you
03:07Grazie a tutti.
