00:56The island itself is beautiful,
00:58spectacular, and when it comes to
01:00action-adventure,
01:02there is nothing like it.
01:05This island
01:06is very mysterious. There are many things on it that
01:08we don't have here in our real world.
01:11It is called the Mysterious
01:12Island. You should have expected some mysterious
01:14thing that's right in the title.
01:17It's a
01:18beautiful, magical, euthereal
01:20place. But let me warn you,
01:22the heart of this island is
01:24full of jagged mountains,
01:25dark jungles, and terrifying
01:27creatures.
01:29So,
01:31who's up for an adventure?
01:37This island's about to go under.
01:38One of the things about making a movie about
01:40Mysterious Island is you get to design
01:43the island to be this fantastic world.
01:45We really explored this idea
01:47where certain things are supposed to be
01:49very small are now very large,
01:51and everything that's very large is now very small.
01:57When the characters first get to the island,
01:59they encounter these tiny elephants.
02:01They're about like that big.
02:02I like to keep them as a pet.
02:04I can knit them a little trunk warmer.
02:07Then we have giant bumblebees that we fly on.
02:10Okay, get down.
02:12Now.
02:12Suit yourself.
02:14But make sure you're wearing swimming trunks
02:16when this place becomes the Pacific Ocean.
02:20We have giant lizards that we encounter.
02:22We just need to move carefully.
02:23Lizards have incredible sense of smell.
02:30Very, very large lizards.
02:32Huge lizards.
02:34Scary lizards.
02:36That's emasculating.
02:41We shot the movie in Hawaii,
02:44and you've got these incredible jungles,
02:45and the scenery and the places here
02:48are so beautiful.
02:49It was wonderful.
02:50We went to Oahu.
02:51We have incredible jungles there.
02:52Went to real jungles, real rainforest.
02:54There's parts of that island
02:55that look like it could be
02:57out of a science fiction novel.
03:00You didn't have to do much to these places.
03:02They were so magnificent.
03:03Just this magical, majestical kind of place.
03:07It was just nature at its best.
03:09We're making a movie in paradise.
03:11That makes for amazing 3D.
03:13There's a lot of depth, a lot of richness,
03:16a 3D shot.
03:17And when the wind blows through,
03:18and there's been a nice little rainstorm
03:20where everything's kind of glistening,
03:22I mean, you can't fake that.
03:23Being part of this,
03:24this is a big movie for 3D.
03:26This was definitely not an easy movie.
03:28We did have challenges where it rained every day
03:30when all the actors were sopping wet the whole movie.
03:33And when it did rain,
03:34oh, man, there was so much mud in the jungle.
03:38It's really stressful.
03:39When you're out there
03:39and, you know, in the middle of a rainforest,
03:41anything could happen.
03:42It was a lot of fun
03:43with all the crazy stuff we got to do.
03:44You just gotta go with it
03:45and go for the ride.
03:47And Hawaii really brought
03:48a lot of that feeling to the movie.
03:51The movie would not be the same
03:52if we didn't shoot in Hawaii.
03:55What we were able to create on Mysterious Island
03:58was something really spectacular.
04:01When you go see Journey to Mysterious Island,
04:04you're gonna see a massive, epic, exciting adventure movie.
04:09It will take you to places you've never been,
04:11let you see creatures you've never seen before.
04:13This is an incredible island.
04:19It's amazing.
