00:00E John Lassiter è un grande partner
00:03a lavorare con perché
00:05ha sempre costruito
00:07ok, really, really celebrate
00:09what makes 8-bit
00:10so kind of appealing
00:12e simple
00:12che significa
00:13simplified repeating patterns
00:15simplified colors
00:16back then
00:17they didn't have
00:19a lot of high resolution
00:20they had to take
00:22a very small image
00:23and scale it up
00:24One of the most basic
00:26structural things
00:27that we did visually
00:28was to have a different
00:30shape language
00:31for each of the different worlds
00:32the obvious choice
00:33for the 8-bit world
00:35was the square
00:38It's 8-bit land
00:39so you didn't want
00:39to get too fancy
00:40the key words in that world
00:41were simple and clean
00:44It was a really hard struggle
00:45to find that nice place
00:47where you believe
00:48it's the finished frame
00:49in a film
00:49yet it's got a simplicity to it
00:51because we were stripping out
00:52so much detail
00:54so much of the shading
00:57and we were trying to
00:58in a film
00:58probably the biggest challenge
01:01in that world
01:01was from an animation standpoint
01:03because we're going to
01:04animators
01:04that are some of the best
01:06in the world
01:06and we're saying to them
01:07don't do your best animation
01:09for us to go back
01:10and forget about
01:11some of those rules
01:12and things that we learned
01:14over the many, many years
01:15was very challenging
01:16and really the key was
01:17keeping the characters
01:18on a grid
01:19so the characters actually
01:20never move diagonally
01:21in any shot whatsoever
01:25there was no real
01:26kind of banking of the head
01:28there was no real
01:29complex movements
01:30we just
01:30we took all that out
01:32I had a blast watching
01:33these characters
01:34you know, come to life
01:35we thought
01:36well we're going to make
01:37Ralph the one exception
01:38I'm not
01:39so he kind of moves
01:41more naturalistic
01:42like he's just
01:43like I don't care
01:43Jerry chasing dot muncher
01:45isn't even a part of this game
