00:49Mom and I, our first date together, our official date, was actually we drove to Virginia Beach
00:55and had a first date. Yeah, our first date was here, we snuck away. And then church
00:59people saw you. No, no. We were trying to keep it low-key. That was later. I mean, back in
01:05the day, I did a
01:06little bit of partying around here, but I'm hoping... Pastor Carlos? I'm hoping we can... I know, right?
01:11That was B.C. We're looking for a beach house in Virginia Beach. Can we find us? I don't know
01:17if we
01:18can, but we're gonna look really hard to see if we can renovate the crib and make it
01:22our own. That doesn't even rhyme. Don't have to rhyme, yo. I'm Rosa Linda. And I'm Carlos. We're
01:28from Richmond, Virginia. And we're looking for a beach house in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our
01:33children, we have our oldest is Alana. She's 26, married to Joey. And they have our
01:37first grandkid, who is Joshua, we love. And then our son, Gabriel. Gabriel's 25, married to
01:43Brianna. They live down in West Palm Beach. And then we call him Little Victor, but he's six
01:49foot three. He's a giant. And he just turned 18. We're pastors of a wonderful church. We love
01:55it. It's a great community. And we run a nonprofit. And for 29 years, we have flipped homes, and
02:02we love it. But it does require a lot of energy and emotions. So one thing that we've come
02:07to realize, we need a place to break away. Yes. We know that Virginia Beach is going to
02:12take us to that next level. Yeah. Virginia Beach is located in a great location. It's
02:16right in the mid-Atlantic area, just a couple of hours from Washington, D.C.
02:21When I was a kid, I would sneak out, drive all the way to Virginia Beach. I was like 16.
02:25We would just go to the beach and just have snow cones. We just loved it so much.
02:30They have a lot of concerts on the sand, like lots of music.
02:34A lot of vendors. Yeah. I think later this month, they've got the
02:37salsa band playing from Puerto Rico, which, you know, we're going to be out here for sure.
02:42We are looking for a two-bedroom, two-bath. We're looking for nice amenities.
02:46I definitely want a pool. No doubt. We've got to have a pool.
02:49But we do want a water view. So we definitely want to, I mean, that's,
02:52you've been saying that the whole time. You want to see the sunset.
02:56Virginia Beach Market is tough. In fact, every time we look, by the time we look again,
03:01it's pending, sold, or gone. The budget for this project right now is $400,000,
03:06and that definitely has to include renovation. So we're talking whatever's got to be done in that unit,
03:11we have to be able to pull that in to that price point.
03:14If we find something that may need some help, then the prices are more affordable.
03:17Way better.
03:17And we're able to add some sweat equity to it and make it our own.

03:55But it is the bay. It's not Atlantic. It's not the Atlantic Ocean.
03:59But it is the water, and you can see, I mean, it's beautiful.
04:03So they're asking $314 for this one.
04:06The HOA fees are a little over $700.

04:10But it does have a pool. It does have tennis courts.

17:02but the reality is we can only pick one.
17:04Cape Henry Towers is about 314,000.
17:08What I did love about it, honey, when you walked out, it was like, phew, there's the beach
17:12right there.
17:13The view was amazing.
17:14The amenities were phenomenal.
17:16And at the same time, it was a little tight.
17:18I think it was a little small.
17:19It did have the two bedrooms, but then it had just one bathroom.
17:23But still, you know, overall, it was a really nice place.
17:26Linhagen Shores was the furthest from the beach.
17:28But as soon as she walked in, it was super open.
17:32And then, of course, there was two bedrooms and there was two bathrooms.
17:35So that was really great.
17:36And the price point was good.
17:38It was $290,000.
17:39But there was no water view whatsoever.
17:42So after a lot of thought and prayer, we really made a good decision and we chose the
17:47Virginia House.
17:51Virginia House was amazing.
17:53It's an iconic building.
17:54When I walked in, it was like so open.
17:57Immediately, I felt like there was plenty of space.
18:00It is only a one bedroom.
18:01So we're definitely going to have to transform that into a two bedroom, two bath.
18:05We're trying to major renovation here.
18:07Of course, the good news is the price point.
18:10So the house was listed at $279,000.
18:12We gave them an offer of $280,000.
18:13They accepted it.
18:15So that left us $120,000 for our renovation.
18:18That should be more than enough to create an amazing space for ourselves and our family.
18:23I cannot believe that we're going to be right across the beach.
18:27It's a dream come true for us.
18:28So we're super excited.

19:36We are going to take off all of this carpet.

19:40Because a light color floor always makes the place look bigger.
19:42Yeah, so I was kind of thinking something like, you know, not real marble but like a fake ceramic look

19:49And then we could do some throw rugs on top of it so it still feels warm.

29:50to be the same on every floor and out of nowhere comes a whole shower of water the poor woman
29:56upstairs is going to be without hot water until we're able to get this fixed all right well
30:02things happen well I'm glad you took it so well I guess my neighbor upstairs is not going to be
30:09very
30:09happy her hot water is not working right now well I do have to say though my team was amazing
30:16when all
30:16the water was flying everywhere they jumped right into action they were able to contain the water and of
30:22course the good news is concrete the floors are so one to worry about the water going below us so
30:28it really could have been a whole lot worse okay well we're going to try to get a little bit
30:32more
30:32done before the time runs out today yeah we have about 30 more minutes yeah we do so I'll be
30:37able to get
30:37something else a little excitement oh my goodness man this is crazy we had a little gusher come out and
31:03we got through it and now we're going to the next step and we're looking to start our drywall and
31:07that's really the key we're hoping to have the whole place drywalled by the end of the day
31:15nice so the drywall is going up in the rooms in the kitchen the guest bedroom the guest bathroom the
31:21laundry room is gonna be covered as well you got it you like it so once the drywall is up
31:26you just
31:26got to finish it tape it off and of course get it ready for painting Mike this is awesome guys

31:36an amazing development look at this man yeah it's starting to look like a real place now we got a
31:46few
31:46more pieces of drywall to put up corner bead and then we'll start some mud work man that is exciting
31:52the transformation has been amazing to see how the project has been kind of unfolding step by step
31:57we just can't wait to get here and enjoy it for the summer but I'll tell you what today was

32:12as many lazy students as I've done in my life and yes I have seen offset angles before
32:19but never a 120 the team is putting in the cabinets but we're definitely running into a problem where
32:26our lazy Susan was we thought it was just like an easy measurement we would be able to figure it
32:31out
32:31and none of us considered that it was never a 90 degree angle we've also determined it's just not
32:37going to work but what will work we can go ahead and hang every other cabinet except for the two
32:45the
32:45top and lower lazy Susan and custom build the lazy Susan so you know Terry he's a perfectionist so he
32:53actually had a custom build one it was challenging but it's not a lazy Susan we just decided to put
33:00shelves
33:00instead it's a lazy shell and and the angle works perfect it's perfect we got through it I think we
33:07would be just fine it's super exciting to see the actual cabinets coming together really we're starting
33:24to see the vision come to pass and we're so happy all right so I went shopping and I got
33:34a couple things
33:35yes that we could look at for the bathroom so what is this for the shower area yeah so the
33:42wall of the
33:43bathroom um we just want to do a towel I think it's look great so got a couple things it's
33:50kind of gray
33:51because we're using a lot of blues in there I feel like that could go together really well um and
33:57then
33:57of course this you know me I love this this is so like clean and shiny um and it's white
34:03so I just I
34:04think that this space is very tight so I think it's important to make it feel big so that's I
34:09guess that's
34:10really the dilemma like do we go with a gray do we go with a white and then you have
34:14this one right
34:15here this Tuscan one what do you think more leaning towards the white just because we can use all
34:21different other colors in that room yeah and we won't have to worry about tying it together everything
34:25will match I personally I really do like the white that's gonna be the one okay let's do it I
34:31like the
34:31fact that it's gonna cover more more of the wall faster so it's gonna take less time to put it
34:36all up
34:36and we're ready to enjoy this place there's been a lot of work and we're ready to start enjoying our
34:50space we went with a really basic bathroom tile it is beautiful but the good news it was in stock
34:55and Terry and his team were able to get on it right away I'm glad we finally came to a
35:02decision on our
35:02tile I feel like that is one less thing that we have on the project I'm really confident the white
35:08shiny larger tile it is gonna bring that bathroom to life the bathrooms really small so the last
35:14thing we need to do is put dark colors in there the flooring guys already got started and it's
35:24actually the tile we have in the shower we had looked at different flooring but some of the stuff
35:28was kind of busy different colors we have a lot of other colors already in the room is accents so
35:34we
35:35decided just to go up here white we're coming to the home stretch and we're really excited the
35:50projects are moving right along not yet but you wait till you see when I get done I will Terry
35:57and
35:57his guys are working right now to paint the ceilings and the walls really nice bright white I chose that
36:04color because when we walk in we just wanted to be bright happy and we just want to feel so
36:09much
36:09light coming in in the bathroom we're really excited because we have a very long drain when we were on
36:19vacation we actually saw a really modern shower and we were like we definitely have to do it this
36:23way so we're really excited about trying something new the bathroom is gonna look gorgeous we went with
36:29the bamboo paper there's palm trees on it because I want to feel like I'm on vacation so we're going
36:35for
36:35it the countertops the design is gorgeous but kind of the marble look on it it really really is coming
36:43out great and it has been such an amazing process a lot of challenges but man we're here we're coming
36:49to
36:49the end and we're super excited we're putting together all the last minute just little things
37:04before we have all our friends and family come over to enjoy the place we want it to look good
37:09the
37:10initial vision that we had really did come to life in fact I believe that we surpassed it when we
37:16changed a
37:17couple of the walls it really took our vision to the next level so this project didn't go without
37:22some issues and some challenges we hit a water line at one point and water just was flying everywhere
37:28and kind of slowed the project down just a little bit but overall we got through it and here we
37:34are

38:38all this space that was normally just a dining area is kind of open we were able to bring all
38:43the kitchen out here and make it more like a great room so you could actually be cooking and eating
38:49and of course how about the center island look at this thing you're gonna have pancakes dinner that's
38:56right it just is open I was worried about that it would feel really close because we're actually in
39:01the same room it's perfect it's a great use all I see is Sunday football we first saw this place
39:18the kitchen was actually in this area you guys are gonna love this look at this oh my goodness
39:25nice that's crazy my brain can't even remember the most special thing is like you guys would have
39:32your own room because before if you came you're like on the sofa I didn't used to mine but now
39:37I'm
39:37approaching 30 so stuff in my neck so this is this is nice this is good I want to show

39:44bathroom let me see look at this nice I love the wallpaper wow I love it oh my goodness it's
39:51actually
39:51bamboo I love the texture so we were able to take this space push back a wall and add a
39:59shower so
40:00when you guys come you don't have to cut through our room to go to the bathroom that's perfect yeah

40:11check this wow wow yeah so Rosa picked an amazing wallpaper which I think looks absolutely amazing we
40:22considered a few options but we ended up going with a really beautiful wallpaper and it has an octagon
40:27shape as an accent piece it's absolutely beautiful I've always wanted a frame like that it just opens up
40:33the room so yeah absolutely it looks so beautiful it's like luxury little retreat yeah it's so nice
40:41that's really what we're looking for I think we kind of nailed it didn't we I'm so happy for you

40:46and for us and for us imagine how much work this was honestly but you can tell it wasn't worth
40:53it I'm
40:54just blown away and I'm just so excited to spend time here well right now we're having a party folks

41:37the whole renovation well the good news was by the time it all the dust settled and all the work
41:42was
41:42done we came in at $50,000 so we saved $10,000 on this project one of the ways that
41:49we were able to
41:49save many is one we don't buy anything full price so we're always looking for a deal but the real
41:55reason is because we had friends come alongside us to help us do this project so this is the view
42:00I mean I love the downtown view if you look right there look what you see you feel that breeze

42:07off the water there it doesn't get much better than that it's a great choice Carlos yeah you did good
