00:00Well, bring up the best in you through your inventions.
00:24at ang undersecretary ng Department of Economy, Planning and Development o Dep-Dev Policy and Planning Group,
00:31Yusek Rosemary Edilion.
00:33Ang gandang umaga po.
00:33Good morning po, Yusek.
00:34And also joining us is the 2025 Presidential Filipino Ovation Awardee,
00:40Mambanesa Jopilio.
00:41Welcome po sa Rising Line, Filipinas.
00:43Good morning.
00:44And I must say, mga babae, happy Women's Month.
00:47Happy Women's Month.
00:50Okay, unahin po natin si Yusek.
00:51Ano po ba yung Presidential Filipino Ovation Awards?
00:54Okay, Presidential Filipino Ovation Awards, yeah.
00:58So this was established last year by virtue of Executive Order 99.
01:04So before that, nang tawag lang namin Philippino Ovation Awards,
01:07but because of the Executive Order,
01:09which actually demonstrates yung suporta ng pamahalaan natin.
01:15So it became a Presidential Award.
01:18So that's Executive Order 99 Series of 2025.
01:21So this will be the most prestigious competition for innovation or innovators.
01:30Ang purpose namin dito is really, yun nga,
01:33yung sabi mo kanina na to shine a light on these Filipino innovators.
01:42Kasi gusto namin magkaroon sila ng, you know, at least, at the very least, visibility.
01:48Okay?
01:56Yes, we have, well, two stages.
01:58Actually, three kasama yung application.
02:00Yung application is ongoing.
02:03It will end this week, March 15.
02:07Oh, malapit na.
02:08Okay.
02:08Pwede pang humabol.
02:10Pwede pang online lang yun.
02:12Okay.
02:13Online yung application.
02:14And then we have subnational finals, subnational competition.
02:19So, NCR, then Balanced Luzon, may Visayas, may Mindanao.
02:27And then from each of this, magkakaroon ng apat na finalists.
02:36So, sa national competition, that's where we select in five.
02:40Okay.
02:53So, as I mentioned kanina, yung pag-apply nito is actually, you do it online.
02:58Pati yung pag-servit ng documents, you do it online.
03:08So, this is open to Filipino-owned, Filipino enterprises.
03:15Pwede individual, pwede rin a team.
03:18It doesn't have to be 100% Filipino-owned, no?
03:22Kasi gusto natin, nag-encourage tayo ng collaboration, eh.
03:25Pero dapat majority, 60% Filipino.
03:28Tapos, registered ka dapat with DTI, with SEC, if you're a corporation,
03:35o kaya sa CDA, sa Cooperative Development Authority, if you're a cooperative.
04:03nanghahawakan, or an application ongoing.
04:07Okay.
04:07Kasi alam namin, especially yung innovation, ano to na, yung mga bago to, no?
04:11May novelty aspect dito.
04:25So, let's take a look at one of the innovation, sa nanalo last year.
04:30Kasama namin si Ma'am Vanessa.
04:31So, last year, one of the winners, tell us about your invention or itong innovation na mayroon ka.
04:37Our company is called Edify, and we provide an AI and VR-powered workforce training platform.
04:45We deliver our training using the MetaQuest headset, yung headset.
04:53So, usually po ginagamit yan sa mga gaming.
04:56Alam po ng mga kabataan ngayon, gaming.
04:59But kami po ginagamit namin siya sa training.
05:02So, the students will just have to wear the headset,
05:05and they will be instantly transported into various environments.
05:10Ay, yung ganyan.
05:10Inda hotel, restaurant, and tourism destinations.
05:16So, doon po sa aming training environments,
05:21pwede po silang matrain under F&B, front office, housekeeping, and even risk management.
05:29So, imagine po, pag sinuot nila yung kanilang headset,
05:33masasimulate po namin yung, for example, sa risk management, yung lindol.
05:39How will they react?
05:41If they are the front office manager, how can they save themselves as well as yung crowd control?
05:49So, namimimik po namin yun.
05:51It's as real as it gets kasi meron pong nakikita nila at naririnig nila.
05:57And even the controllers are shaking.
06:08So, we all know in the kitchen, marami po tayong mga sources of fire like gas, chemical, or oil.
06:50Yes, yes, yes, yes.
06:51So, mas papilis pong natututo yung mga studyante kasi it's very fun, it's engaging.
06:57At mas ka-pin.
06:58Yes, opo.
06:59Hindi mo na kailangan ng laboratory.
07:01You're just in a room.
07:02Actually, yun po yung gusto namin na ma-reach out yung mga schools in the far-flung area.
07:14So, we can just bring our headsets there and in a single headset, hundreds of students can use it na
07:23po.
07:24Tapos may mga controllers din.
07:25Yes, may controllers po.
07:27Yung controllers po, ginagamit po siya to interact with objects.
07:30And then, sa headset, meron po siyang sensor.
07:34Yan naman po ay nag-track ng kanilang movement.
07:37Okay.
07:38Well, nabagit mo yung mga emergency situation.
07:40Pero, like, kung nari, bartending.
07:42May ganyan din ba?
07:43Yes, yes.
07:43Eventually, it's in the pipeline.
07:46Pero, ngayon po, meron din kami sa FNB, we have handling guest complaints.
08:02How do you handle guest complaints?
08:35Pero, paano kapag iba-ibang lingwahe?
09:14So, we have a dev team po.
09:17We have an in-house dev team.
09:26So, it helped in para mas ma-develop pa po itong inyong innovation.
09:30Yes, ako.
09:31Kasi, of course, yung, when we joined the Filipino Vision, meron po kasi siyang different stages.
09:38So, yung pre-competition, they provided us already with the framework on how to set up the business.
10:18doon sa aming business model canva, pati po yung kung paano i-mamarket, paano mahanap yung right people where we
10:27can sell our products to.
10:29Okay.
10:30Okay, so the likes of that work yung hinahanap ng Filipinovation for 2026.
10:36So, meron po bang theme for this year and may prize ba ang mapipiling winners?
10:42Yes.
10:43This year, it's an open category.
10:46Last year, meron kaming three priority sectors, yung food and agribusiness, health and well-being, and then learning and education.
10:54Okay.
10:55Pero for this year, ang naging decision ng National Innovation Council, which the president chairs, is i-open category na.
11:05Para makita na natin yung, you know, it's really a platform for all Filipinovators.
11:11Okay.
11:12And yes, meron may prize money.
11:15Last year, apart from yung sinabi nga ni Vanessa na may mga mentoring sessions kami nga in-offer, and of
11:22course, anything that we can do to help, yung i-connect sila sa ganitong agency or si ano yan, we
11:27will do that.
11:29Kasi ang DepDev, ang National Innovation Council, secretariat.
11:34Tapos, yung prize money, that's 2.5 million, pero kapag that's gross, net of taxes, 2 million.
11:44Ang laki rin ng prize ha!
11:45Tapos, may support then for them to participate in an international competition.
11:52Sabihan lang kami, and then we will discuss it with our committee.
11:56Kapag na-aprubahan din, it's a go.
11:58Mabilis yung ano, mabilis naman yung pag-download natin.
12:01Well, malaki yung maitutulong para ma-develop yung kagayang innovation nila Mama, nila Mama Vanessa.
12:12Yeah, there's still time.
12:14So, hanggang March 15.
12:28Pero, we encourage everybody to really apply because, like I said, at the Verdi's, yung pag-sali mo pa lang
12:37dito, may visibility ka na eh.
12:40And, oh, syempre, all the more kapag umabot ka sa sub-national competition, kasi doon pa lang sa sub-national,
12:47meron na kami binibigay na coaching and mentoring sessions.
12:51And then, of course, kapag na nasa national ka, mas marami pa yung mga ibibigay namin ng workshop.
12:56Okay, saan po yung i-apply yung applications? Anong site?
13:14Ayun, okay.
13:15Tips mo ba, Vanessa, para dun sa mga sasali?
13:18Kasi, syempre, you've been there, you've experienced that.
13:22Para talagang maging winner sila dito.
13:55Kasi, during the competition, ma-i-open talaga kami sa national stage.
14:11And then, the mentors, lalo na, they've been supporting us since day one up to now.
14:16So, wala po silang dapat ikatakot.
14:19Ilabas nila yung innovation nila.
14:22Filipinos are very innovative and I am very positive na it, yung mga innovations like this will really create a
14:31better impact and will help the economy grow.
14:34Ayan.
14:58Yes.
14:58And also, mentoring.
15:01Mentoring, saka yung coaching ng...
15:02And it's nice to be with like-minded people na talagang go for innovation.
15:07Thank you very much po sa pagsama sa aming umaga.
15:10Yusek Rosemary G. Edelion at si Ma'am Vanessa Hopilia.
15:13Maraming salamat po.
15:15Thank you so much po.
15:15Thank you. Thank you for having me.
