00:16There is something about that central concept of the Turtles that is timeless.
00:21The Turtles turned out to be the saviors of the city.
00:24But who are they? Where did they come from?
00:27It's a complete mystery.
00:34Late one night in the studio, I liked to bug Pete as much as I could, especially when he was
00:37watching his favorite TV shows.
00:39One night, you know, we're sitting around watching bad TV.
00:42And that's when it happened.
00:45Kevin drew a turtle standing on his hind legs with an nunchaku strapped to his forearms and with a bandana
00:50-style mask.
00:51And he showed it to me and he says, hey, this is a Ninja Turtle.
00:54I had to do my own version and I changed just a couple of things.
00:58And of course, I had to top him, so I did a sketch of four in pencil.
01:01And each one had different weapons and it was this dramatic pose.
01:05He handed that to me and I think that sometime around that point, I suggested, well, why not add Teenage
01:09Mutant to the name?
01:10It had a kind of rhythm to it.
01:11Dude, we have to come up with a story that tells how these characters became the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
