A trailer for Monk Took Book
Transcript
00:01Hello, I'm Al and I'm Sarah and together we've made a co-op game about organising books in a monastic
00:07library.
00:08That's right, it really is a game about stacking books and remembering where you put them.
00:12Hey, where do you think this goes?
00:15Hmm, I think we're keeping seafood books upstairs.
00:19So how it works is, every day you get new books to organise however you like, but you can't judge
00:24a book by its cover.
00:26Or can you? Actually, you can. In fact, you have to.
00:30You see, these books don't have titles or anything useful like that. Instead, they only have a little picture on
00:35the front.
00:36So it's all about how you choose to group things together so you can find them later.
00:40And you can use your own logic for however you do this.
00:43At night, the scribes ask you to fetch some of them, so you've got to memorise where you left them.
00:48Okay, I know where the pot calluses are, so I'll get them.
00:53Okay, and I will get the fire and the honey pot.
01:08Sounds easy. It is, but it gets harder the more books you have, and you'll only have till morning to
01:14get your orders done.
01:15Also, did I mention the library is haunted?
01:20You're quite likely to encounter skeletons, creepy man-sized rabbit arches and poltergeists that you'll have to deal with using
01:27various tools and weapons.
01:29Then there are other things to deal with, like fire, rats, or spiders. The usual medieval library stuff.
01:38There's also a bit of physics going on, so you can chuck books to your fellow monks to save time,
01:42or into the faces of any enemies.
01:44The pen is mightier than the sword, as they say. I know they're books, but still.
01:49Ironically, when making this game, we discovered that we both had terrible memories.
01:53So we put in some difficulty options for the amount of books and monsters you get.
01:57That way you can make it as chilled or as hectic as you want.
02:01So, that's about it. We're setting the demo live so you can give it a try, alone or with your
02:05friends.
02:05Give it a wishlist if you like the idea, and we'll be releasing it later this year.
