00:00Now I want to ask you about your relationship with perhaps the happiest man in America right
00:05now.
00:06There you are, it appears that you are playing golf with Bill Murray.
00:10Yeah.
00:11How did this happen?
00:14Where were you here?
00:16I'd love to be able to explain what he's doing in that photograph, but I'm not into
00:23what he's doing at all.
00:25Why?
00:25What happened?
00:26So it's this thing, the Dunhill Lynx Championship, they play it up in St Andrews in Scotland
00:31every year.
00:32I've done it three years.
00:33Bill's been doing it for lots of years, and you just get paired with different people.
00:38Every sort of amateur has a pro that they play with, and then you get paired with whatever
00:42other amateur and pro.
00:43And my first year, my first round ever, it's the most terrifying thing ever.
00:47I'm not a good golfer.
00:50There's cameras everywhere for sports networks, there's thousands of people.
00:54You're just, you're just, why am I here?
00:56Why am I doing this?
00:57And of course, I'm paired with Bill Murray, who's not a massive fan of Bill Murray, and
01:01he's a legend.
01:02Did you hang out with him at all after the golf club?
01:04I didn't plan to hang out.
01:06I wanted to hang out, but it's sort of hard to broach that at the end.
01:10I didn't want to be like, hey, we should hook up later.
01:12Yeah.
01:14Not like hook up.
01:15I know what you mean.
01:16You know what I mean?
01:16Yeah.
01:16So I haven't planned to, but the night after we played that round of golf, it's a very social
01:25week.
01:25There's a lot of pouring pints down your neck, and I was hammered, and I was in the, again,
01:31and it was, I was in the, I was in the, I was in the lift, or elevator, and I
01:36was like,
01:36Elevator.
01:37We say elevator.
01:37I called it.
01:38I don't like, I'm quite good at, I'm quite good at sneaking off when everything's really
01:41fun and stuff, but you know you've hit a wall.
01:43Yeah.
01:43I'm always like, I just need the phone, and make this phone call.
01:45It's L.A.
01:46You know, it's late, so L.A.'s up.
01:47I'll go and make it.
01:47I got you.
01:48So I got into the elevator.
01:50I was like, brilliant.
01:51Going to bed.
01:51It's like 3 in the morning.
01:52I was playing golf at like 7 the next day.
01:54I'm in the elevator, and it opens up on the fourth floor, which is, oh, the third floor,
01:57which was my room, and the door's ping open, and Bill Murray's standing there, right?
02:02And he's like, where do you think you're going?
02:05And I was like, oh, my God, I just need to go to bed.
02:07I'm like, bed?
02:08He's like, uh-uh.
02:10Back in the elevator, pushed me back in the elevator, went up to the fourth floor, brought
02:13me to this, like, secret, like, cigar whiskey bar that I didn't even know existed, and he
02:18gave me a drink, and then there's like a balcony at the back of the bar that overlooks
02:23the most famous golf course in the world, it overlooks the 17th and 18th holes, and we
02:29just, we just, we weren't talking, and we just walked, he gave me the whiskey, and we
02:34walked and we stood on the balcony, right in the air, just only two people on the balcony,
02:38just staring out at the golf course, just like, and the starry sky, just staring at it, and
02:42we were there for two minutes, without, like, saying a word, just like, I'm like, what
02:47is happening here?
02:48And this is, and then I was like, I'm sort of like, looking at him to see, like, is
02:53he sort of, is he, like, into it, or like, what, you know, what is it?
02:56And then after, we're just, I was like, this is maybe the coolest moment of my life, like,
03:00I'm standing drinking whiskey with Bill Murray, the most famous golf course in the world,
03:03and then after a while, he was just like, and he just turned and left, but again, didn't
03:08say anything, and I was just left, standing there, going like, how long should I, should I
03:13be, like, should I be, like, following him, going, hey Bill, we should finish that non-conversation
03:17here.
03:19So I left it for about seven seconds, and by the time I went in, he was already, like,
03:22in the conversation with other people, so I just, like, I just, like, left my whiskey
03:25and I went to bed.
03:26He went to bed.
03:26All right, well, you know what?
03:28That's a magical experience you had there.
03:29Yeah, it was pretty special.
03:30Well, it's very good to have you here.
03:31The show is called The Fall.
03:33It's on Netflix.
