01:29Did you come by to check out my nature curiosity list?
01:32You have a curiosity list, Ronald!
01:34Of course I do!
01:36And dare I say it's the greatest of all time!
01:42A decent start, but creating a nature curiosity list is an art form!
01:48It takes years to hone the perfect list of adventures!
01:53Voila!
01:54Maybe it takes you years,
01:56but I've come up with the perfect nature adventure
01:59in just one minute.
02:00The adventure is...
02:01Fanfare, please, Hal.
02:02On it, baby!
02:07What is it like to see a geyser erupt
02:09at Yellowstone National Park?
02:11Oh, of course!
02:13I know all about Yellowstone!
02:15The geysers!
02:18Geysers!
02:19Geysers!
02:20Right!
02:21Geysers!
02:22Haha!
02:23That's what I meant to say!
02:24Yes!
02:24A great idea for a first time list maker, Ronald!
02:28I do believe I crossed that off my list
02:31when I was but a kitten!
02:37So, uh, maybe they're not on my list after all!
02:41Well, geysers can't be that interesting!
02:45Especially if they've never made it onto my list of things to explore!
02:49Oh, really, Nature Cat?
02:52You're telling me that you don't think ultra-hot jets of water
02:55shooting out of the earth like this?
02:57Boo!
02:58Sounds interesting!
02:59Nice try, Ronald!
03:01But that doesn't even sound real!
03:04I'll have you know, Nature Cat,
03:06that I have proof that geysers are real
03:08and that they are awesome!
03:10Whoa!
03:11That's a geyser?!
03:13That water goes as tall as like a billion Mr. Chewinskis stacked up on top of each other!
03:18Man, oh man, is that sweet!
03:20Ha!
03:20Told ya!
03:21Grampy Donald sent me this!
03:22He's invited me to visit him at Yellowstone National Park to see this geyser, Old Faithful!
03:28How do you like them apples?
03:32Love them!
03:33So nice of you to ask, Ronald!
03:36Whoa, man!
03:37That is some serious spray!
03:39What a sight!
03:41I mean, I guess it's cool and all, but who wants to be near all that water?
03:48Hey, gang!
03:49What do you say we head back to our yard and select a nature adventure from my tried-and-true
03:53curiosity list?
03:55An adventure that isn't quite so... wet?
03:58So this is in a national park?
04:00And you said this giant jet of water is ultra-hot?
04:02Uh, how hot are we talking?
04:04Like a bubbling pot of Swiss fondue hot?
04:07And how can a jet of hot water shoot out of the ground like that?
04:10We gotta go see this national park!
04:14I think I'm picking up on what all of you are saying.
04:16And yes, Ronald would be honored to lead a nature adventure to go explore Yellowstone National Park and see Old
04:23Faithful.
04:24You lead us?
04:26Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Ronald!
04:29Then you'll all see that only the coolest, most awesome adventures make it onto my nature curiosity list.
04:35But Ronald...
04:36Follow me!
04:37I'll lead the way!
04:38Onward and Ron-ward!
04:40Hmm, I like the sound of that.
04:48Man, oh man!
04:49I can't wait to get our geyser on!
04:53Wow!
04:54It is beautiful!
04:56Isn't it, though?
04:57Now then, come on, gang!
04:59Old Faithful is this way!
05:01Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
05:07Huh?
05:08I think I'm the best qualified to lead the way to Old Faithful!
05:14Old Faithful is the other way, kids!
05:17Grampy!
05:18I'm so happy you could come, Ronnie!
05:21And you brought your friends!
05:22Well, these guys...
05:24...hate your cat...
05:25...have never heard about Old Faithful!
05:27If you can believe it, I thought I'd teach them...
05:30...hate your cat...
05:31...a thing or two about Old Faithful!
05:33That a boy, Ronnie!
05:34Look at you!
05:35Already teaching your friends about geysers!
05:37Why, it was only yesterday when I first told you about them!
05:40Grampy!
05:42So, you've got a lot to learn about geysers, too, huh, Ronald?
05:46Oh, sure he does!
05:47When I first told Ronald about geysers, he asked if we could make one in his backyard!
05:53Grampy!
05:54Don't worry, kids!
05:55There's so much to discover about the park!
05:57Geysers, hot springs, animals like elk!
06:00I learn new things here every day!
06:02Come on!
06:03I'm gonna see Old Faithful first!
06:05No, me!
06:09Hey, boys!
06:11You're gonna miss the elk if you go that fast!
06:13Look over there!
06:14Whoa!
06:15That's amazing!
06:17Sure is!
06:18But I'm still gonna be the first to see Old Faithful!
06:20I am!
06:33Old Faithful!
06:35I saw it first!
06:37No, you guys!
06:38This isn't Old Faithful!
06:39This is Excelsior!
06:41Excelsior!
06:42Excelsior!
06:43I saw it first!
06:44I'm not sure who saw it first, and also I'm not sure what I'm even looking at!
06:48What is this, Grampy D?
06:49This is called a hot spring!
06:51But it's really a geyser that's quiet for now!
06:54Oh, really?
06:55So now it's a hot spring!
06:57Thought so!
06:58A hot spring!
06:59Right!
06:59Of course!
07:00But one question about this silly little hot spring over here!
07:03What is a hot spring?
07:05A hot spring is a supply of hot water that springs!
07:08Comes right up out the ground!
07:10Wow!
07:11Whoa!
07:12Whoa!
07:13Who knew?
07:14I mean, Ronald knew!
07:16Of course!
07:16Wow, that's bonkers, Grampy D!
07:18But how did the water get underground?
07:20Where did it come from?
07:22Good question!
07:23Whenever it rains or snows, the water soaks into the cracks under the ground, filling in the
07:28spaces!
07:29Kinda like the way water soaks up into a sponge!
07:31Oh!
07:32Like a sponge!
07:33Okay!
07:34Now I get it!
07:35Now I get it!
07:35Oh wait!
07:36Do I get it?
07:37I've been clearly established as the genius of this series, so I'm sure I'll figure it
07:42out by the end of the episode!
07:43By the season, at least!
07:45In some places, though, really deep underground, there are bigger spaces that are connected,
07:50so lots of water collects in one place!
07:53This is called an aquifer!
07:55An aquifer!
07:55Yes!
07:56What he said!
07:57It's an aquifer!
07:58Of course!
07:59Ha ha!
07:59The Ronald's on the board, baby!
08:01Do do do do do do do do do do do do!
08:02Okay, so the water comes from the aquifer, but what makes it come up out of the ground?
08:07The aquifer beneath us here is located near magma, and that makes the water super hot!
08:12The super hot water expands and rises to the surface because it has nowhere else to go
08:17but out!
08:18Wait!
08:19There is magma under us?
08:21Oh!
08:22That's right!
08:23Magma!
08:24But hold on!
08:25Let's keep going, and I'll tell you more when we get to our next destination!
08:31We're getting closer to Old Faithful!
08:33I'm going to get there first!
08:36Not if I can help it, Ronald!
08:45Ha ha!
08:47Onward!
08:47Skateboards, guys!
08:49Really?
09:01All Faithful!
09:03I saw it first!
09:04No, you guys!
09:05This is the Grand Prismatic Spring!
09:08Grand Prismatic Spring!
09:09I saw it first!
09:10I see it's a hot spring, but it doesn't look like Excelsior at all!
09:15Wow!
09:16This is so beautiful and so rainbowy all at the same time!
09:20This is amazing!
09:22Where are all the colors coming from?
09:24It's pretty groovy, isn't it?
09:26Teeny tiny critters that live in the spring turn it into these different colors!
09:31They love the hot water!
09:32All the little tiny critters just want to be all warm and cozy!
09:36And the hot spring water is like a nice warm toasty blanket for them!
09:39So the water is hot for the same reason Excelsior is hot!
09:43Yep!
09:43Magma!
09:44And that has something to do with Yellowstone's coolest secret!
09:47Want to hear it?
09:47Yes!
09:48Well, a very long time ago, volcanoes used to erupt right where Yellowstone National Park stands today!
09:55So cool!
09:56Oh, so cool!
09:57Man, oh man, oh man!
09:59Oh, that's awesome!
10:00Makes sense, because magma is found where there are volcanoes, right?
10:04Mm-hmm!
10:04And you find geysers in places where there are or used to be volcanoes!
10:09Oh, yeah!
10:09Totally!
10:10Hey, Grampy!
10:11When are we finally going to see Old Faithful?
10:14Patience, Ronnie!
10:15The most famous geyser in the world is our next stop!
10:19Last one to Old Faithful is the rotten egg!
10:21Hey!
10:27Where's Old Faithful?
10:28Right here!
10:30Old Faithful!
10:32High side first!
10:33You guys, there's nothing to see but steam!
10:36Uh, Grampy D, when's it going to erupt?
10:38Well, according to the schedule, we're due for another one just about now!
10:42But what makes the water shoot so high out of the ground, Grampy Donald?
10:46With a geyser, it's harder for the water to reach the surface.
10:49The pressure escape route is very narrow!
10:51When all of that hot water and steam can't escape, the pressure builds, and then whoosh!
10:58There she blows!
10:59We have a geyser!
11:01Ooh, I can't wait to see this!
11:03So, Grampy, why is this geyser called Old Faithful?
11:06It's called Old Faithful because this is one geyser with a pretty reliable schedule!
11:10It erupts several times a day!
11:13Sometimes about every hour!
11:15Uh!
11:16Uh!
11:17Do you guys smell that?
11:19Uh!
11:19Uh!
11:20It's gross!
11:21Although...
11:22Uh!
11:23It's kind of...
11:24Alluring.
11:25Like an extra crumbly hunk of blue cheese.
11:28Cheese!
11:29The smell comes from sulfur and other gases from inside the earth that are released by geysers
11:34along with the water that shoots out!
11:37Look!
11:37Look!
11:38I think it's happening!
11:39Oh!
11:42Wow!
11:43Wow!
11:45I've gotta hand it to you, Ronald.
11:47This was an incredible nature adventure!
11:50Truly!
11:50If it weren't for your nature curiosity list, I never would have seen this!
11:55Well, truth be told, if it weren't for your nature curiosity list, I never would have
11:59made one myself.
12:01What is it like to see a geyser erupt at Yellowstone National Park?
12:06It's amazing!
12:12Rainy day!
12:18Water!
12:19Why does it always have to be water?
12:23Can you believe it's been raining for three days straight?
12:27Three days of not playing outside.
12:29Three days!
12:30I'm going nuts in here, man!
12:33Don't worry, baby!
12:34The great Haldini is here with his latest trick!
12:38When I say the magic words, the rain will stop!
12:42Allah!
12:43Um...
12:44Um...
12:46Abracab...
12:46Hmm...
12:47I forgot the magic words!
12:50Nature!
12:51I devote my days to you and your beauty!
12:53I even name myself after you!
12:55And this is how you repay me!
12:58With water!
13:00Days and days of water!
13:03Oh, don't worry, buddy!
13:04I'm sure the rain will stop soon, right?
13:07Huh!
13:07I'm afraid not!
13:09Look!
13:10Unfortunately, the forecast calls for nothing but rain over the next seven days!
13:14It looks like we'll just have to keep playing indoors!
13:18No way, man!
13:18I can't take being inside anymore!
13:20We've already done everything there is to do inside!
13:23We all gotta get outside and play!
13:26Despite how bored I am, I shall not venture outside until the rain completely stops!
13:32It is yucky!
13:34And as proof, if the rain weren't so bad, how come there's no other animals outside, huh?
13:39That's actually a good question!
13:41Where did all of the animals go?
13:43Yeah, definitely no one out there!
13:45Oh, wait!
13:46I see someone!
13:47It's a Robin!
13:48Splish-splashing in the puddle!
13:49Wow, that actually looks kind of fun!
13:51Yeah!
13:52The rain doesn't seem to bother her one bit!
13:54I'll get to the bottom of this!
13:56Excuse me, Robin!
13:57What on Earth brings you out into the rain?
14:00Oh, what?
14:01Oh, hi, guys!
14:02The rain makes it a great time to catch worms!
14:08See?
14:09But isn't it so uncomfortable to be wet in the rain?
14:12Not really, because I've got these feathers to keep me warm and dry!
14:16Check them out!
14:17I just wish we had feathers to keep us warm and dry so we could go out in the rain!
14:22That's it, Hal!
14:23You're a genius!
14:24Yes, right!
14:25But I am also a magician!
14:27The old feather trick!
14:32Oh, boy, forgot the words again!
14:36It's okay, Haldini, because we don't need a trick or feathers!
14:39We have our rain gear!
14:41Sweet idea, Squeaks!
14:42Then it won't feel so wet out there!
14:44Oh, yeah, baby!
14:47Aren't you gonna put on your rain gear, Nature Cat?
14:50No thanks, Daisy!
14:52I'm good!
14:53Why not, Nature Cat?
14:54What gives, buddy?
14:55You know, it's the strangest thing, but, uh, I've lost my rain suit!
15:00Yep, that's it!
15:01Can't find it anywhere!
15:03Please, feel free to go outside without me!
15:05But what's not hanging on your hook?
15:07That?
15:08That's nothing!
15:09Whatever rests on that hook is not mine!
15:12Really?
15:13But it has Nature Cat's official wetsuit emblazoned across the front, no?
15:18Oh, right that!
15:19What do you know?
15:21I, uh, it must have slipped my...
15:24Nothing gets past you, does it, Squeaks?
15:26Nope, never did, never will.
15:30Let's do this!
15:36One can never be too cautious when it comes to water!
15:40Hey, it's not so bad being outside with waterproof clothing!
15:44That's right, Daisy!
15:45And check out my outfit!
15:46I call it May chic!
15:48Rain storm red!
15:49Gorgeous!
15:50You look lovely, Squeaks!
15:52But what could there possibly be to do outside in the rain?
15:55What?
15:56If you open your eyes, ears, and noses, you'll find that being outside in the rain will make
16:03all places seem new and exciting!
16:05Sounds good to me!
16:07Who else is in?
16:08Me!
16:08Me!
16:09Tutu also!
16:12If I must!
16:15Ew!
16:16You know, I wouldn't mind the rain so much if it weren't so, you know, wet!
16:21And made from water!
16:23Yeah, just a minor detail there!
16:25Wouldn't mind the rain being made from cheese curds myself!
16:28Cheese!
16:29Okay, so some animals, like the Robin, might be out here for food, but I still don't understand
16:34the rain's appeal!
16:36Oh, you guys still have to try this!
16:43Sweet!
16:44This feels great!
16:46Come on, Nature Cat!
16:46It's your turn!
16:47Uh...
16:48Ah, hold on!
16:49Let me get my rain-proof tongue protector!
16:52Oh wait!
16:53There's no such thing!
16:54Come on, buddy!
16:55Try it!
16:56You'll fake me!
16:57I don't know!
17:02No thanks!
17:02Whoa!
17:06Ugh!
17:08Actually, that felt kind of good!
17:10Of course it did!
17:12Hmm...
17:13Do you smell what I smell, Nature Cat?
17:16What's that scent?
17:17It's...
17:18Earthy!
17:19It's fresh!
17:20I like it!
17:22Ah!
17:23Granny Bunny says that the smell comes from plants and tiny critters that live in the dirt!
17:28Hmm...
17:28So there's something else good that comes out of the rain!
17:31Interesting!
17:32Check this out, you guys!
17:35Oh sweet!
17:36I've never seen these mushrooms here!
17:38All of this rain must be bringing them out!
17:41They look like little umbrellas!
17:43They're red and yellow and short and tall!
17:45It's like an entire mushroom village!
17:47Okay, I must admit, these mushrooms are magnificent!
17:52Especially this orange one!
17:53Say what?
17:55Hey!
17:56It's the vernal pond where we met Vern the salamander!
17:59All of this rain is great for the animals that use the pond every spring!
18:04It's...
18:05It's...
18:06Beautiful!
18:07That it is!
18:08And look at the little duckies!
18:10Oh, hi duckies!
18:11Quack quack!
18:11It's me, Hal!
18:12Bark bark!
18:17Okay, why didn't anyone say there were ducks out here?
18:19I adore ducks!
18:22And these are so cute!
18:24Man, oh man!
18:26Check out how the raindrops are making ripples!
18:29Well, we can make ripples too!
18:30Check it out!
18:34You guys so gotta try this!
18:36Yeah!
18:39I can't believe I'd ever say this, but I'm sort of...
18:43Kind of...
18:44Enjoying the rain!
18:45And we've got the entire afternoon ahead of us!
18:48Nothing can stop us now!
18:51Ah!
18:53Except the hat!
18:56Whoa!
18:57The rain's really coming down hard now!
19:00Ugh!
19:00Why?
19:00At the precise moment that I'm beginning to experience personal growth...
19:05Must this happen?
19:06I mean, this is just too much rain, right?
19:09And now our day is ruined!
19:11Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
19:14What are we supposed to do now?
19:16Hey guys!
19:17What are you doing over there?
19:19Franchi!
19:20What's happening?
19:21Hey Squeaks!
19:22It's crazy!
19:23I just woke up from hibernating!
19:25And guess what?
19:25I am totally enjoying this spring rain!
19:29Yee-haw!
19:30How can you enjoy the rain if you're standing underneath this here leaf ceiling?
19:35Even animals who love the rain head for shelter when it rains hard, Al!
19:39And this spot's awesome!
19:42With the leaves overhead...
19:44It's so relaxing!
19:47Just listening to the rain!
19:52You're right, Reggie!
19:54It's very meditative!
19:56So peaceful!
19:57The sounds sure are nice, Reggie!
19:59But there doesn't seem to be much to look at under here!
20:02Well, actually, Nature Cat, there's a lot to see!
20:05I was just admiring that field over there!
20:11Um...
20:12Okay...
20:13What about it?
20:14Now, check this out!
20:15This is a photograph of the field from not long ago!
20:19And look how green it is now!
20:22Ha ha ha!
20:23Eww!
20:24No way!
20:25Yeah, way, Hal!
20:27It's the best!
20:28Spring rain turns everything green!
20:31Hmm!
20:32You're right!
20:33I hadn't even noticed!
20:34And you see those plants over there, Nature Cat?
20:37They weren't there either!
20:38They just...
20:39Sprouted up!
20:40What a sweet place for admiring the first greens of spring!
20:44Ooh!
20:44And the newly-budded plants!
20:49Hey, it's not raining so hard anymore!
20:52Wonderful news, gang!
20:53Where to next?
20:54I have an idea.
20:55Who wants to go out and play in that field?
20:57It's called...
20:58Bare Butt!
20:59Yes!
21:00Oh, I do!
21:00Pick me, pick me, pick me, pick me!
21:02Reg, you in?
21:03Uh, no thanks, Squeaks!
21:05Another reason why I like the rain so much...
21:07It's a good time to go off and hunt for some bugs!
21:11Can't argue with you there, Reggie!
21:12Happy hunting!
21:13We'll catch up with you later!
21:15See ya!
21:16Spring...
21:17Esprung!
21:18Woo hoo hoo!
21:19Uh, Nature Cat?
21:21Aren't you coming with us?
21:22I have spent almost an entire day out in the rain!
21:26But abandoning my galoshes and going barefoot?
21:29You insult me, good sirs!
21:31Go ahead without me!
21:33I shall watch from afar!
21:34But Nature Cat, don't you want to frolic with us in the field?
21:38And feel the mushy squish of the mud beneath your toes?
21:42To stand truly in the earth, feeling its power on the skin!
21:47Come on!
21:48I'm sorry!
21:50I just can't do it!
21:52That's okay, Nature Cat.
21:53I applaud you for setting boundaries.
21:55Hal, Daisy, come on, let's do this!
22:00Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!
22:02This is even more fun than I thought!
22:04I feel like the king of spring!
22:06Boing!
22:08Oh yeah!
22:09This feels amazing!
22:11I am the water, I am the mud, I am one with me!
22:18Nature!
22:19One with nature?
22:21Feels amazing!
22:22King of spring?
22:23Oh!
22:25Playing out here is incredible, but I wish Nature Cat was here with us too!
22:29Yeah, it doesn't feel right without him!
22:33You guys, look!
22:35Onward and out of the wayward!
22:45Um, that felt amazing!
22:47Amazing!
22:48I have to do that again!
22:51Oh yeah!
22:51Way to go, buddy!
