00:00Big Bang Theory was nominated for a SAG Award and Hidden Figures.
00:03Thank you.
00:05Very sweet.
00:07We'll talk about the movie in a minute,
00:09but you shot a scene for Big Bang Theory
00:12in the audience when you weren't here.
00:14Oh, hell yes. Yes, you did.
00:15We crept right in here.
00:17How did that?
00:17That was the strangest.
00:18I'll tell you what,
00:19if you've ever gone into anyone's house when they weren't there,
00:22or somebody's place of office where they're not working,
00:26it's creepy.
00:27It's like, it's almost like there's been a death or something.
00:30You're like, where is everyone?
00:32What is happening in here?
00:33You just feel like you're going to get an echo.
00:35But it was neat.
00:36We were...
00:37Do we have a clip of it?
00:38Do you have it?
00:38Let's hit, yeah.
00:39Okay.
00:40New study came out and it said that laughing makes your brain work better.
00:44And I know that's true because laughing has made me the smartiest.
00:50Although on the other hand, babies laugh a lot and they're dumb.
00:54Do people know about her?
00:56And she's delightful.
01:00So you had an audience.
01:02Oh, yeah.
01:03No, we filled the section.
01:06But it was odd.
01:07It was the first time I'd ever sat out there.
01:09I mean, I've only come in here, you know, you come and do the talk shows,
01:11and they're like, whisk in, whisk out.
01:13Yeah.
01:13Which is very neat to see all that.
01:15But this was a good angle.
01:18It's amazing.
01:18So you just used footage of me talking and then you were just sitting in the audience.
01:22And you're doing the commercials with Michael Phelps, by the way.
01:25Oh, Lord.
01:26I love those commercials.
01:27That is so much fun.
01:28Thank you for that.
01:29And he's a great guy, isn't he?
01:30He is stupendous.
01:32He is so nice.
01:34He's very smart.
01:35So it was easy to shoot with him.
01:37And the only other thing I would say is when you finally meet him in person.
01:40Has he been on here?
01:41Yeah.
01:42Well, he's probably wearing more clothes than he is when he's doing that.
01:44No, we shot with him just in a Speedo as well.
01:46You did?
01:47Yes.
01:47OK.
01:47So you see him in person and the size of his hands and his feet and the length of his
01:53torso,
01:53you're like, oh, you're vaguely aquatic.
01:55It's no wonder, you know, you're part dolphin.
01:58Yes.
01:59Of course you're fast in the water.
02:01Yeah.
02:01But he's a really good guy.
02:03You seem like you would have a swimmer's body.
02:05Do you swim?
02:05You'd be wrong.
02:06I would.
02:07I don't know.
02:08If I'd done that, maybe I would have turned into a swimmer's body.
02:11But no, my body, especially right here, is going, you didn't swim enough.
02:14You know?
02:15It's supposed to be great exercise.
02:17It's the best exercise.
02:18Yes.
02:18Because it's no impact.
02:20So you're doing press for the movie right now.
02:22And I know you're taking your mom with you.
02:24Oh my god, yes.
02:24Was that a mistake?
02:25No, it was a, no, at all.
02:28It was the most wonderful time.
02:29In fact, I probably will take her to more things with me.
02:31I will say, I took her to, I did one of those press junket days.
02:36And if you've never done one, you sit in a room with, it was me and Kevin Costner.
02:41in this case, and they literally rotate like 40 journalists in and out of the room for
02:45four minutes at a time in two different, like three hour segments.
02:48So we did the first one, and then we went to eat.
02:50And then we came back for the second one, and we finished that.
02:54And she goes, you and Kevin had more energy in the first one.
02:57And I said, what do you mean?
02:59She goes, no, it was just, it was, it was just different.
03:02It was just lower energy.
03:03And I said, that sounds like criticism.
03:05I think you've just come to your last press junket, lady.
03:07Yeah.
03:08Portia and I watched it last night.
03:10Yeah.
03:10And we kept saying, and it's a very important movie.
03:14But it's a very difficult movie to watch because you're just looking at it going,
03:16this cannot be real.
03:18I know.
03:18This cannot have happened.
03:19I know.
03:20Explain what the movie is.
03:22Well, it is, the movie is, Crux is about the, getting a man into space.
03:28Getting John Glenn to orbit the Earth and the goal and the mission.
03:30And why it's called Hidden Figures is because, in our story specifically, we bring to light
03:37three African-American women who were integral to getting this done, who until very recently,
03:44no one had ever heard of them, other than some people at NASA and their families.
03:48And I do think that's why stories like this are so important to tell and retell again and
03:54again.
03:55Because you know we're whitewashing and covering up something else now.
04:01There's somebody else being overlooked now.
04:03There's somebody doing something that we're not recognizing enough now.
04:05And we'll be angry in 30 or 40 years that we did it then.
04:09And just, it's hard.
04:10It's hard when you're in the thick of it.
04:12I know that.
04:12But it's important to keep those eyes peeled.
04:15Yeah.
04:16I don't know how else to put that.
04:17Yeah, I can't stress enough how important this movie is to watch and to, and we, you know,
04:23it's crazy we didn't know this story.
04:25Yeah, it really is.
04:25Amazing.
