00:00In this top 10, we're counting down the best revenge.
00:03I love this, baby. I love this. Revenge is so sweet.
00:08That's extremely healthy for pro football.
00:12These aren't your run-of-the-mill rivalries.
00:14They are bitter affairs with an added twist.
00:18I think the key element to revenge is somebody got screwed by somebody.
00:23There needs to be a biggest reason you'd want revenge is somebody cut you.
00:26You know, when you're playing against your old team, it's your chance to redeem yourself, to show that you shouldn't
00:30have cut me.
00:31There has to be a love story ending with animosity, a bad breakup.
00:36We're about to get our revenge now, though.
00:38Real personal.
00:40Messy divorces, petty paybacks. This list has it all.
00:47The number 10 revenge game of all time.
00:52John Gruden blackballs the silver and black.
00:56That's all? 10?
00:58Oh, it's ridiculously low.
01:00It's close to right. If you take off the zero, it would be right. That should be number one.
01:04I mean, that should be up there in the top two or three.
01:09I'm so proud to represent this franchise as their head coach.
01:13John Gruden came to the Raiders as an unknown quantity, as the youngest coach in the league, and did something
01:19remarkable.
01:20He completely changed the culture.
01:22In just his third season as Raiders head coach, Gruden led Oakland to its first division title in a decade,
01:30en route to the AFC Championship game.
01:32You guys are number one in the AFC West.
01:35Divisional champions.
01:36Congratulations.
01:37He was animated.
01:38Yeah, yeah, yeah!
01:40He was cute.
01:41He got the boringest kickoff return in the history of this great league.
01:46He had colorful language.
01:48Breaking a hollum, we break it like a sack of shh.
01:51John Gruden would have been a perfect Raiders coach for life.
01:54Let's all start a chant here.
01:56Raiders!
01:57Raiders!
01:57Raiders!
01:58Raiders!
01:59Raiders!
01:59Raiders!
02:00He was the lowest paid coach in the league at the time.
02:03But it was so obvious that he had done something momentous.
02:07In any normal world, he would have had his contract extended for big money.
02:11But they didn't give him money.
02:12They let it fester.
02:14So Al Davis trades Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two first round and two second round draft picks
02:19at eight million bucks.
02:20I think it surprises Gruden a little more than he lets on.
02:23Not respect anyone.
02:25That's something I guess you don't do to John Gruden.
02:27And so the animosity factor there is a little greater than people realize.
02:34So he comes to Tampa Bay.
02:36Quite simply, I'm thrilled to be here.
02:38Now they were a good team.
02:39Gruden comes in, puts the icing on the cake.
02:42In his first year as Tampa Bay's head coach, Gruden led the Bucs to the Super Bowl.
02:49Tampa Bay, we're going to the Super Bowl!
02:52And who won the AFC to set up our number 10 revenge game?
02:57That's right.
02:57The silver and black are back in the Super Bowl!
03:03It was a dream matchup.
03:05It was too perfect.
03:06You gotta love this, don't you?
03:07Jesus Christ!
03:08In the Super Bowl.
03:09And more importantly, Gruden getting a chance to kind of shove it in Al Davis' face.
03:15Ooh!
03:15Love that!
03:16Love it!
03:17Welcome to Super Bowl 37.
03:19And you can just feel the electricity of the air.
03:22And not only does he go in being the extreme underdog, he kicks their rear end.
03:27I mean, it was a total blowout.
03:29Flush to his right, throws it down.
03:30It's picked off!
03:32We didn't even start it yet!
03:33It's the ultimate referendum on John Gruden as a coach.
03:37I have no idea how you can put that number 10.
03:40So why isn't our number 10 revenge game higher on the list?
03:43Simple.
03:44It was too easy.
03:46Gruden barely broke a sweat.
03:47It was really unfair, because that was his Raiders team that he built.
03:52And the reason the Raiders lose to the Bucs is because Gruden knows everything there is
03:57to know about Rich Gannon and that Raider offense.
03:59Hey!
04:00Slug OC!
04:01Gannon, bump fake, looking to his right, throwing to his right, intercepted!
04:05That's there!
04:06That's there!
04:06I told you, man!
04:07I told you!
04:08It's Slug OC!
04:09Come on, that's going!
04:10Hold that up!
04:10He knew the Raiders' plays before the Raiders knew the Raiders' plays.
04:16Mike, every play they've won, we ran in practice, I don't know.
04:18They ran three interceptions back for touchdowns against the league's MVP.
04:22Gannon to throw, here's the pass, it's picked off, intercepted, touchdown Tampa Bay!
04:29Buccaneers win, Buccaneers win, Buccaneers win San Diego!
04:33Complete sweet revenge for John Gruden.
04:35Can you imagine the sweetness of that victory?
04:38I can't remember a coach looking like he had more fun in a game than Gruden had in that game.
04:44Super Bowl, baby!
04:47Boom, boom, boom!
04:51And when John Gruden left, the Raiders went down the tubes.
04:56Right now, we're horrible, but we don't suck.
04:58He's not playing well.
05:00No, we suck, I'm not saying.
05:02It's Super Gruden being gone.
05:04Ever since he got rid of him, we're being horrible.
05:05We had seven seasons of 11 or more losses.
05:08Bring back, bring back John Gruden to me, to me.
05:12Don Shula's revenge in the 1971 AFC Championship game just missed making our list.
05:19The Colts owner, Carol Rosenblum, never forgave him for losing Super Bowl III.
05:24Of course, the Jets lost the Super Bowl when we're heavily favored.
05:28The New York Jets are the world champions!
05:31My relationship with the owner was never quite the same after that loss.
05:35It damaged their relationship with the honor of the parents.
05:38Intractable egos there.
05:39Hard-nosed, tough guys, competitors.
05:42And I don't think any of them ever apologized.
05:45He should have gotten rid of her more.
05:47Just anybody.
05:49Unitas, it's over the middle.
05:51It's intercepted!
05:53It's intercepted!
05:54Don Shula and the Dolphins are going to the Super Bowl!
06:01The number nine revenge game of all time.
06:05The Pack gets back at Mike Holmgren.
06:09In Green Bay, Coach Mike Holmgren reached hero status after the Packers brought the Lombardi
06:15Trophy home for the first time in almost three decades.
06:19World champion, Bay Packers!
06:23You gotta feel great for Mike Holmgren.
06:25I'll tell you, he did a heck of a job.
06:27The bad blood started pumping three years later when Holmgren cruised west to take a sweeter gig.
06:34The Seahawks promised him a two-hat job, GM and coach.
06:37And they made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
06:39As a coach, you cannot ask for any more than I've been given here.
06:44There was a sense of betrayal on the Packers fans because there was some acrimony,
06:48there was bitterness about Holmgren's departure.
06:50That was certainly a part of the build-up.
06:55And then you get to 2003, we end up playing the Packers in that playoff game.
06:59Back there, Lambeau Field.
07:00Then, of course, Mike wanted to win the game for the Seahawks in himself just to show what they missed
07:07when he's gone.
07:08For four quarters, Holmgren appeared to have a real shot kicking it to his former team.
07:13Touchdown, Seahawks!
07:14It looked like they put it together to win in Green Bay, which is something I don't think anybody had
07:18done to that point.
07:20Hasselbeck takes the snap.
07:21Hands off Alexander.
07:22Powering forward.
07:23Touchdown, Seahawks!
07:25And we will go to overtime.
07:34With revenge up for grabs, Matt Hasselbeck added fuel to the fire with his statement during the overtime coin toss.
07:46I said, who's that quarterback?
07:47Is that Favre now, over there?
07:49You don't do that.
07:50I was amused.
07:51Then I said, you better go back it up.
07:53What happened?
07:54Came back to fight up you-know-where.
07:56In the posterior.
07:58Short drop, quick throw, left side.
08:00And I said it!
08:01He went so long!
08:03Going down the way!
08:04He's in the middle of the road!
08:06It is out!
08:07Touchdown!
08:08Touchdown!
08:14This one's interesting because it's the revenge of that Packers squad against their old coach, Mike Holmgren.
08:20As the Green Bay Packers send their former head coach, Mike Holmgren, and the Seattle Seahawks back to the Pacific
08:28Northwest.
08:30The number eight revenge game of all time, the Eagles shut up and shut down T.O.
08:35This game is a whole city's revenge on Terrell Owens.
08:38Your career may end through day, T.O.
08:42There's a lot of bad blood.
08:43They can hate me all y'all, won't you?
08:45Especially the Eagle fans seeing Owens going to their most hated rival, the Dallas Cowboys.
08:54He has a passion for the game.
08:56I don't mind the personality.
08:58After losing three straight NFC championships, Philadelphia signed Terrell Owens in 2004 to fill a glaring need at wide receiver.
09:08Touchdown Terrell Owens!
09:09He did great things for the Eagles.
09:11I mean, they had their best offensive season they ever had with him.
09:14It was exciting.
09:15McNabb became a better quarterback with T.O.
09:17And that is the luxury that McNabb, until this year, never had.
09:23You felt the entire year they were going to go to the Super Bowl.
09:26T.O. proved to be the missing piece to the Eagles Super Bowl puzzle.
09:31The Eagles, for the first time in 24 years, are headed to the Super Bowl.
09:37He could have been a legend here in Philadelphia.
09:40I can't think of a player that was more beloved in this city.
09:46and then it all turned just like that
09:50in the offseason
09:51realized he had a bad contract and when they came back for training camp
09:55he didn't perform and they wound up sending him home
09:58tarot loans has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team
10:02this guy went out into the driveway took his shirt off and held an impromptu press conference
10:07i would ask to leave training camp today and that's it
10:09the three local news choppers were up in the air
10:12some would say this is starting to become a circus
10:14i love the fans
10:16the driveway workout was theater of the absurd that i had never seen
10:20i think that the opinion of terrell owens at that time was good riddance
10:28and then on top of everything else after the eagles let him go
10:31he signed with the dallas cowboys
10:33certainly made him public enemy number one in the minds of the fans
10:37this is america's team and i feel right at home
10:41owens arrival in dallas set up our number eight room in philly
10:45so you have the circus coming to town with owens
10:48i'm probably the most hated guy coming into philly this weekend
10:51it was so huge
10:56it had the feel of an nfc championship game
11:09not only did owens not play well he played poorly he starts dropping balls early in the game
11:18he felt like the whole game he didn't have a catch
11:20they knew that as the game would go along he would get more frustrated
11:23if he wasn't getting the ball a lot he would get more frustrated
11:26i think the eagles really made a concerted effort to say hey
11:29we're not gonna let this guy beat us
11:31at the end of the day he has three receptions
11:3345 yards
11:34he was very very unhappy
11:39did you love this
11:42savor it
11:43hey it doesn't get any sweeter than that fella
11:45tony dungy's revenge against the bucks just missed making our list
11:49going into the game the storylines were enormous
11:51the bucks were the defending super bowl champions
11:54buccaneers win buccaneers win at san diego
11:57the colts arguably had one of the top offenses in the league
12:00barman touchdown again
12:01tony dungy's return to tampa the team that ran him out of town
12:06i hate this ball
12:07the number seven revenge game of all time
12:11bobby lane ties the lions
12:15bobby lane was a heck of a player
12:16he was their leader he was their spirit he was the face of the detroit lions
12:21the greatest comeback quarterback of all time
12:24the original captain comeback bobby lane led detroit to championships in 1952 and 53
12:31and this fan favorite played hard both on and off the field
12:37well there was uh quite a bit off the field
12:42bobby lane accomplished more on less sleep than anybody in the history of the national football league
12:51he could go out and spend hours the night before drinking and clear up by the fourth quarter
12:58lane would have one of his magical comebacks
13:01he's a legend here
13:06in 1957 the lions grew tired of their quarterbacks off the field
13:10antics and signed veteran tobin wrote when lane broke his leg wrote guided the lions to a championship
13:18the next season lane was traded to pittsburgh
13:21at pittsburgh's forbes field former lion favorite
13:25bobby lane led the steelers in an inter-conference clash with detroit a 12-year pro veteran
13:30lane showed no love for the lions and i might add the feeling was indeed mutual
13:37with 11 seconds left on southern's field goal attempt is blocked by bill glass and the game ends in a
13:4210-10 tie
13:45i don't know that bobby felt any great satisfaction after that game because it wasn't as if he was
13:49necessarily depriving the lions of anything either they weren't going anywhere that year
13:54the game may have been a tie but lane still got his revenge it's not the revenge of that game
14:00it's
14:01the the revenge by the curse lane when he was traded as he left detroit said the detroit lions will
14:08never win another championship for 50 years and they haven't not only that since that time the detroit
14:15lions have won only one playoff game they also became the first team in history to go oh and 16
14:24in three playoff game seats no title he ran out of the end zone to say they were the worst
14:30team in
14:32league history the position that has been most cursed on the lions since bobby lane left is the
14:37quarterback position greg landry is the only pro bowl quarterback in one year 1972 there was no other
14:42pro bowl quarterback since bobby lane how can you go 50 years and have one full bowl season by a
14:48quarterback the person bobby lane is still in effect i like to think that bobby wherever he is is enjoying
14:55it very much the origin of our number six revenge game dates back to 2006 when eric mangini left new
15:10england to become the head coach of the new york jets eric mangini left bill belichick's organization
15:16after belichick basically said to him you shouldn't leave to go coach the jets and that absolutely
15:21drove bill belichick insane the bad blood between mangini and belichick was on display during their
15:27infamous post-game handshakes we've seen dignitaries from rival nations spend more time shaking hands
15:34or at least faking like it meant something what do you say to mangini after the game
15:39uh you want to talk about the game i'm wondering i could get a post-game analysis here
15:43you know i've had enough of that
15:49the animosity between the two escalated thanks to the spygate scandal
15:55nfl security person confiscated a camera that was on the patriots sideline in which the patriots are
16:01accused of taping the jets and some of the signals that they were sending in patriots live behind you
16:08know an iron curtain and eric mangini he leaked out that he's been taping other teams play calls and hand
16:13signals but this is part of the problem if you're belichick and you leave your assistants with a bad
16:17taste in their mouth then they're liable to turn on you
16:28later that season the patriots hosted the jets in what will become the number six revenge game of all
16:35time this was going to be the day where the patriots got their revenge for eric mangini and the jets
16:41blowing the whistle out that way too i remember there was a big play right out of the game in
16:45the
16:45end zone he gets hit as he gets rid of the ball it's picked up and run in for a
16:49touchdown but that
16:51game did not become the blowout that i think a lot of patriots fans were hoping for it was an
16:56absolutely miserable day in foxborough it was cold it was wet it was windy there was snow on the ground
17:01you know the patriots did end up winning the game
17:03maroney the tail back in the eye dives into the end zone touchdown remember the handshake after the
17:09game the intrigue of that was just as big as the actual game i guess they were expecting him to
17:15either hug him or deck him i'm not sure which all of us were also wondering if it was going
17:20to be
17:20the stare down the wwe wrestling stare down
17:32our number six revenge game is only a small part of this revenge tale
17:42when eric mangini narked on the pages with spygate it cost the patriots their reputation
17:47is belichick really a genius or does he just have the right film that's what really upset belichick
17:53you think we cheated to get this dynasty fine now we're going to do it without the aid of video
17:58cameras we're just going to come out and drive you into the ground and they did it the patriots for
18:04the third game in a row have gone over 40 points they were telling the rest of the league to
18:09kiss off and
18:10for the first time in the national football league a team has won all 16 regular season games
18:16but in the end it was the giants who got the last laugh the patriots will not be perfect
18:2315 games but not the 19th one step shy of creating the greatest revenge trail since the guy in the
18:30princess bride inigo montoya knowing bill belichick all he's going to focus on ever is the one he's
18:35never going to feel good about what happened that year but at the time i'm sure he felt pretty good
18:39about beating the jets the number five revenge game of all time cedric benson rips the bears
18:47yep when cedric benson arrived in chicago in 2005 this future star flamed out they drafted the guy
18:55fourth overall the chicago bears select cedric benson if you remember he wept on draft day he did not
19:02want to go to chicago the guy simply did not work hard was not in good shape left that exhibition
19:07game
19:08early and when he did get on the field he would moan and run you didn't see my knee on
19:12the ground
19:13just a total tool nobody rolled their eyes or turned their head when they heard benson got released by the
19:20bears benson was out of football into the cincinnati bangles gave him a second chance when he came here
19:27he portrays himself as this humble guy showed himself as a hard worker and he was nothing but
19:33a prince and you can't ask for more of a running back than he's what he's done here in cincinnati
19:38benson just racking up the yard it's benson who's had himself a whale of a day
19:44in 2009 benson got his shot at revenge there was actually some trash talking going on the week
19:52leading up benson saying that he thought the bears had blackballed him when he was out of the nfl
19:57they were unfair about how they treated him here when they drafted him number four and he underachieved
20:05who treated who like the bears are still in my blood i'm a monster of the midway son and if
20:11you
20:11wrong the monsters of the midway on your car window cujo nor the 85 bears could have stopped benson
20:21who rushed for a career high 189 yards he was like a new guy i mean he looked like the
20:27elite running
20:28back we all thought the bears were going to get out of texas when they made him a top five
20:31pick
20:32there's no question he was definitely geeked up to play the bears he wanted to prove a point look at
20:37him he's the energizer buddy cedric benson showing a burst an acceleration that i don't think the
20:42chicago franchise knew that he had to have cedric benson just run rough shot was kind of embarrassing
20:48give it to said he's in the end zone touchdown cedric benson is going to have just a huge taste
20:56of
20:56satisfaction he came back and showed everybody here he could play when he wants to ready to go cedric
21:03you got to get benson is dude boy he got the bears back pretty good the number four revenge game
21:09of
21:09all time paul brown tops the browns yes paul brown uh really was the cleveland browns the mighty cleveland
21:17browns come charging onto the field and the capable mentor who put them on top coach paul brown
21:23the man behind our number four revenge game coached the cleveland browns to seven championships but
21:30brown failed to build a winning relationship with new owner art modell he didn't like my being in
21:36the office at 7 30 in the morning he saw i was a little upset with that our relationship cooled
21:41until
21:42in january of 63 i called him into my office and said we're going to go different directions
21:48this is my raw rod professional football it's a cold hard commercial game i took my father to his
21:56core paul brown was very bitter for many years he really felt that it was something that he didn't
22:01deserve it put so much of his life into the team it was his life and it was taken away
22:06from him for
22:07really no good reason paul brown was never going to forget ever
22:13for five long years he went into exile brown resurfaced in 1968 when he became owner and head
22:22coach of the expansion cincinnati bangles well you look fine pretty good i happily settled down
22:29again to live in a normal life and i like it good luck turns out brown spent his hiatus plotting
22:34his revenge down to the smallest detail we wondered why we looked so much like the cleveland browns
22:42art modell objected to that you stole my uniform he said and my dad said well who stole whose uniform
22:53in 1970 afl and nfl merged art modell takes two million dollars to move to the afc they're placed in
23:01the same division so now you've got these two enemies meeting twice a year and if you don't
23:07think that's big you don't know what big is to him it was damn important from that day forward every
23:15game between the two teams has been by revenge and hatred will the next person that sees anybody
23:23throw anything onto this field point them out or get them out of here you don't live in cleveland
23:30but few of those games could compare with the first two meetings if those games were played
23:36today in the internet age we would have built up paul brown against art modell to armageddon levels
23:43this is the day paul brown returns to the city where he founded a football dynasty in that first meeting
23:49the browns won the game always a step behind the other guy always the whole damn defense
23:57the bengals had led most of the way and the browns rallied in the fourth quarter won the game by
24:01a
24:02field goal they were too slow bill one guy could just screw up the whole thing terrible after the game
24:09brown was so distraught he refused to shake hands with the man who replaced him in cleveland former
24:15protege blanton collier not only did he not shake blanton collier's hand but i've heard reports that
24:21he never spoke to blanton collier again in cincinnati another of pro football's great new rivalries was
24:31preparing to step into its second stage of development playing cleveland in cincinnati uh he wasn't gonna settle
24:38for us to not win the game was close milton morin's catch set up a touchdown sweep by number 44
24:44leroy kelly and the browns seemed on their way to breaking their rare two-game losing streak
24:50we responded in the second half and we scored a couple of times and was was able to win that
24:55game
24:55paul brown yes never emoted runs off the field into the locker room ahead of his team and after the
25:02game
25:02calls it the biggest win he's ever had in his life the only time i saw paul brown fry was
25:07when we beat
25:08cleveland for the first time beating cleveland was probably more important in my dad's mind than
25:14anything else that happened that year including winning the division he waited a long time for
25:21that moment and the revenge was sweet got a hell of a reputation on up here
25:31oh my freaking god really got a small taste of the revenge pie but not a big enough slice to
25:38make our
25:38list the number three revenge game of all time chief joe montana stealth the diners i was at that game
25:48and that is as electric an atmosphere as i've ever seen
25:56who's about as good a hype as you're ever going to get for a week two game
26:05joe montana led sam fran to four super bowl titles in the 80s in the bay area he was bigger
26:11than the
26:11golden gate bridge but you would never think a guy as great as joe montana and what he had done
26:17for the san francisco 49ers would ever be traded but in 1993 montana was dealt to the chiefs
26:24against the wishes of niner nation
26:26oh wow every 49er fans worst nightmare the heartbreaking traumatic i still haven't recovered
26:39that other red jersey on in the wrong number he's wearing number 19. it was stranger than it would be
26:44today because again that was just sort of the outset of free agency it was huge huge news for him
26:50to be
26:50in another uniform and now for him to get a chance to go back and play against his old team
26:55that so many
26:55things for it was big big big time news
27:01the montana trade opened the door for his understudy steve young yeah the 49ers are now steve young's team
27:08but san francisco is not steve young's town because steve young hasn't won a super bowl
27:13emotionally i think there's a lot of people in the barriers like they went with them in the san francisco
27:18bay area there were probably just as many people rooting for the chiefs in joe montana as there were
27:23for steve young and the 49ers
27:31it's hard to say big game just the second game of the year but this is this doesn't light your
27:36firemen
27:37the pilot lights out and joe montana as i suspected played flawless football
27:42high formation play fake by montana wants to throw wide open
27:48i counted on the 49ers being protective of steve young and desperately trying to win for him
27:54what neither he nor i counted on was the chiefs had this crazy yearning to please joe montana their
28:03new quarterback steve young took a pounding
28:09derrick thomas and neil smith and company just pummeled him into submission
28:15young will throw he's being rushed he's headed the end goal it's a safety
28:19derrick thomas nailed steve young
28:25and steve young dragging himself off the ground and saying to chiefs defenders what do you have
28:32against me what did i ever do to you guys the chiefs were so fired up to win that game
28:36for joe montana
28:41this 49er montana bono whitmore whatever is history i felt like i was the apprentice that
28:47learned he was the master he's uh in many ways one of the greatest as far as winning super bowl
28:52is four you know i gotta get there yet it was win-win because joe won the game and steve
28:57took what
28:58he got from that game and channeled it into a super bowl trial and even after he won it i
29:07don't think
29:08he's ever been accepted as montana's equal that was the best team of the decade for the 49ers they
29:14only lost three games and one of the games they lost was at airhead to joe montana that was just
29:20joe montana showing everybody he's the man i don't know it revenge is sweet and no one knows that better
29:27than chad pennington pennington flanks throws in zone touchdown you can't throw it any better
29:33than he just threw it after eight seasons in new york the jets dumped him for brett farb a year
29:40later
29:40with the afc east at stake he made his old team pay hey big man that's great man great
29:46new revenge game of all time number two brett farb sticks it to the packers
29:55if they don't want him in green bay and he wants to play go play someplace else they were just
29:59hoping
29:59it would be in siberia they didn't think it would be right across the street in the same division
30:03brett farb came back to beat the packers because he made no bones about it brett
30:08farb wanted his revenge on ted thompson and he pulled it off
30:15our number two revenge game began taking shape in 2007 after farb had spent 16 seasons with the
30:22packers this could very well be his last game when do you think you'll make your decision soon
30:28the brett farb retirement watch is over i am officially retiring if it were only that simple
30:35news breaking on wednesday that farb was considering a comeback
30:39farb indeed came back as a jet at season 10 he retired again sort of brett farb is a future
30:49viking
30:50just waiting for his arm to heal and a viking source told me that the official word came out that
30:55brett
30:55has decided to remain retired what what's going on okay brett make up your mind i don't know if i'm
31:01coming back i can't stand it brett farb ending his retirement for the second year in a row
31:06officially signing on tuesday with the minnesota vikings
31:12in week four of 2009 farb would go head to head against his old pack he hated the vikings and
31:19now
31:20all of a sudden he's he's a purple people eater and he's looking across the field with that big g
31:24on
31:24the helmet it had to be just unbelievable much anticipated almost two years in the making he was
31:31nervous for that game he had a lot of trouble sleeping that sunday night before that monday night
31:35game everybody cared about brett farb facing the packers again emotions on both sides of the ball
31:40the biggest game on the planet it'll get no bigger than this baby the concern was will he come out
31:45and try to do too much farb played spectacular fire from outside the end zone touchdown to shanko
31:51farb throws it over the middle and a touchdown three touchdowns tonight for brett farb against his former
31:58team i was the person that was like no no no no no i don't want him on the team
32:02i hate his guys my whole
32:03life i don't want to stop hating him and then of course he beats green bay and you're like oh
32:07yeah
32:08yeah he's ours now whoo suck it team ball three one two three team yes
32:18in an encore to our number two revenge game farb played in green bay for the first time ever
32:25not wearing green the reaction from the fans was a lot more vitriolic than anybody could have ever
32:31before seen i don't think the enmity was really there on the player's side it was just there on
32:38the fan side who wanted to vomit when they saw him dressed in purple oh my god farb is in
32:43a purple
32:44uniform i can't deal with this i've never heard boos that loud
32:52it was unanimous everyone was building
32:58and he didn't bat a night he played as well as you could play four touchdowns in the return to
33:03lambeau brett barb has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions this year against his former gene
33:09brett farb came through as he often does in a very emotional situation and was able to get the win
33:15brett farb proved to me that night that there's not anything that he can't handle
33:21satisfaction to brett barb what a great homecoming for brett barb
33:29brett farb got the last laugh
33:33green bay pecker fans can't wait for brett farb to retire i mean really retire they don't want to
33:40take him on twice a year they don't want to pull against him this is the greatest packer of them
33:44all
33:45and now the number one revenge game of all time the colts beat the pads in the 2006 afc
33:52championship patriots colts is the best rivalry in the nfl in the past decade one of the great
33:59rivalries of all time but during the first half of the decade this storied rivalry was completely
34:05one-sided patriots have pretty much had their number before a game even started you knew that
34:11somehow the coach were going to lose that game 15 seconds to go to head off to wedger
34:15and he's stopped he is stopped at the one yard line would you believe it the biggest meltdowns
34:21occurred during the playoffs twice the patriots eliminated the colts en route to a super bowl
34:27championship he didn't have his best games you know against the patriots
34:32pressure coming he throws the back of the end zone
34:37belichick and the pats would just squat on him
34:39the patriots hold this offense colts scored 17 points in those two games combined
34:46same
34:48juggernaut to three points they had basically been the punchline to the patriots peymanning can't win
34:53the big one why can't you beat the patriots you're hearing that and you're realizing that's kind of what
34:58you're going to be judged on unfortunately but i always believed that we would win a championship
35:03when our team was good enough
35:08in 2006 the colts had home field advantage and many thought this would be their time
35:14the colts are a passing team they need a fast surface they lost a number of those playoff games
35:20in foxborough on cold windy snowy muddy days the colts offense does not work
35:28efficiently in that kind of weather
35:35but our number one revenge game didn't play out as expected
35:46and you come out and you fall behind 21 to three and you think here we go again oh my
35:52goodness i
35:53thought it was our time what is going on talking about being the darkest before the dawn it was
35:58it was pretty damn dark this game's over patriots are going back to the super bowl i went over to
36:03the offensive guys on the sideline i said hey it's still our time i promise you we're gonna win this
36:08game he rose to the occasion um against a great new england defense they could not stop him he really
36:15kind of willed the colts to victory in that game and he will fake the ball to a die looks
36:20for dan
36:20clicko he's got it touchdown dan clicko it's 21 to 19. you just got the feeling that this was going
36:28to be the game that the coach were going to do it he almost lost the football at the patriot
36:3422. when
36:35you've got luck like that you've probably got a good chance to win manning will give it to joseph
36:40right up the middle touchdown so we score and it's exciting but i remember right then i was looking
36:47at the clock and they got over a minute to go and they got tom brady a quarterback i you
36:52know bit my
36:52head down and i just said dear lord one time he does not let tom make this comeback drive and
36:59allow
37:00us to win this game of the super bowl that would be a good thing you know what makes this
37:17number one
37:19the colts won the super bowl if they had lost it might might not even be on the list
37:30everywhere that was a game where peyton manning defined his career he won his first super bowl
37:35the fact that he had to go through the patriots is fitting i mean if he loses that game doesn't
37:42get the super bowl now he's being looked at as like a damn marino for peyton manning to come back
37:47and bury all those ghosts finally win a big one the biggest revenge game for a single player maybe ever
37:54as long as football is played somebody will do somebody wrong and revenge will always be the
38:00best retribution we'll make him pay i'm gonna get you back for that turns out not everyone is happy with
38:14our list a good revenge game other people have to care about it the whole country cared about
38:19terrell owens against the eagles i don't think anybody noticed the bengals bears game and that
38:23oh that's that's right that's benson's big comeback his revenge would be if he'd have played his ass off
38:28here and then they cut it he played like new moon dog here and you can hit it that if
38:36we left you with
38:36bad taste in your mouth don't even think about getting revenge on us
