00:03I
00:04You know what they say
00:06The show must go on
00:08We're shooting the big musical crossover with Supergirl and Flash
00:12You're in a movie musical
00:14What now?
00:15The Flash Supergirl crossover musical extravaganza
00:19Bravo! Round of applause, standing O, that was so good!
00:24Well it's a musical
00:25Yeah it's musical time
00:26I am so excited and ready to jump around, and I'm trying to contain myself.
00:30The fans just asked for it.
00:31People have been wanting us to do a musical ever since the castes were announced.
00:35There's so many huge stage talents that are on these shows.
00:38I've done a lot of Broadway. Victor and John Barrowman and Carlos have all done Broadway,
00:42and Melissa and Grant come from Glee.
00:44Most of us are all seasoned musical theater performers.
00:48I'm your super friend.
00:50My favorite sequence that I'm the most excited for people to see
00:53is a tap number that Grant and I got to do together.
00:56I'm your super friend.
00:58Rachel Bloom from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend reached out to us
01:01and said she would love to contribute a song to our musical,
01:04so she wrote a song called Super Friends.
01:06I love you more than the lightning ball that wear on my chest.
01:09I'll be singing a song that originally is from Guys and Dolls,
01:12but we use it in this episode to show our love for a young girl named Millie.
01:17Music I can wish you.
01:20Merry music while you're young.
01:23We say in musicals, when you can't talk anymore,
01:26you have to express yourself through song,
01:28and it's a transition right into it,
01:30and that's where you see the true soul of the character
01:31and the songs are singing.
01:33Can't say how the days will unfold.
01:38My friends from the University of Michigan,
01:39Benj Pasek and Justin Paul,
01:41who did the music for Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway and La La Land,
01:45they wrote an original song for this episode
01:47called Running Home to You.
01:49All I want to do
01:54Is come running home to you
01:57Come running home to you
02:00Blake Neely is our series composer,
02:02and he has outdone himself with the arrangements for these songs.
02:06We are at the Warner Brothers Eastwood scoring stage,
02:09which is actually my favorite stage probably in the world.
02:12The history here is unbelievable.
02:14The original Flash series in the 90s was scored on this stage,
02:18so that's fun to be back here.
02:22We will have a group of about 50 players today.
02:24Big brass section, woodwinds, we have saxophones,
02:27and of course, strings.
02:36We're shooting the big opening number today,
02:39which is Put a Little Love in Your Heart.
02:40That is a big group number with John Barrowman,
02:43and Darren Criss, and Jeremy Jordan, and Carlos.
02:46A huge, big dance number with lots of dancers.
02:50It's a production.
02:59When they told us we were doing this musical, I was like, really?
03:02I thought they were crazy.
03:03I thought this is insane.
03:05There's no way.
03:05There's no way we can pull this off.
03:07It's kind of fun in that way.
03:08When you do theater, sometimes you only get two weeks to put a show up,
03:11so it kind of felt like that.
03:13It sort of felt like the summer stock performance we were putting together.
03:16Greg and Andrew always have big lofty ideas,
03:18and the best thing about them is they believe that they can pull them off,
03:21and somehow, you know, they throw it at us,
03:23and we figure out a way to make it work.
03:25So here we are doing a musical episode.
03:28I didn't think it could be done, but it's definitely being done.
03:30Come on and put a little love in your heart.
03:48in the flash.
