00:00All right, some update news here from the Astros.
00:05And I think this is rather important
00:07because I think this player is rather important to the Astros,
00:11and that is Josh Hader.
00:13Josh Hader, he obviously missed most of the end of the season,
00:18and then they let us know he would be starting off a little behind schedule
00:23with the biceps injury that he has.
00:25Well, he returned to the mound today, and according to reports,
00:31throwing about 15 pitches in the bullpen.
00:35Speed is there.
00:37Fastball is there.
00:38Action is there.
00:40Synced up all positives is what Josh Hader himself had to say.
00:44When asked about opening day, he simply said, we'll see.
00:48So it is still on the board.
00:50It's good to see that he has gotten to a place where he is.
00:54He is on the mound pitching.
00:57We're beyond flat ground.
00:59We're beyond all the other things.
01:00He threw a bullpen session,
01:01so hopefully he is getting to a space where that is picking up.
01:06And the Astros will have him out there as soon as possible
01:10because he is very, very important to this team.
01:13Their bullpen, when you know you have one for-sure starter,
01:18and we'll see, hopefully the other ones are able to follow suit,
01:22but you've got one for-sure starter,
01:24I think the Astros' bullpen is going to be called upon to be very, very strong,
01:28and they need all those dudes to be able to be there.
01:31Well, one thing you said that I hope is not true ASAP, take your time.
01:36Take your time with you on that.
01:37I mean, a opinion, take your time.
01:39A hater, take your time.
01:41And I think one thing that we're probably going to get tired of hearing about this year
01:45from management, from Joe a spotting up, is probably,
01:50yeah, probably don't want to rush this one back.
01:52They don't want a redo from last year of kind of rushing some guys back
01:58and them not being quite ready.
02:00And so I would imagine that that's going to be the case with all of these guys,
02:04is to be patient with them and let them get back.
02:07But good to hear that Josh Hader is – at least we're not in the phase
02:12of throwing on flat ground, throwing from X feet away kind of deal.
02:17Like you said, we're actually throwing a bullpen, so that's nice.
02:20Yeah, yeah, so it's good to have him back.
02:22An important piece there with the Astros closer.
02:28Good to hear from him.
02:29All right, Clint, with a lot of the news going around the NFL,
02:35the quarterback situation is interesting.
02:37We saw Malik Willis go to Miami where it looks like he'll be the starter.
02:41We saw Tua go to Atlanta on a one-year deal.
02:45I think he's making $1 million.
02:471.3.
02:481.3 is what the – I mean, he's making –
02:50Veteran minimum.
02:51Obviously, he's making more than that,
02:53but that's all the Falcons are having to pay.
02:55But we still – wouldn't you say Kyler's the big chip?
02:58We still haven't seen Kyler.
03:00Geno Smith was traded, actually, from Seattle to the Jets.
03:03So we'll see what happens there.
03:04But Kyler's probably the big chip.
03:06And Pittsburgh is interesting because Rodgers hasn't made his decision yet,
03:12and they've got to figure out how do we move forward.
03:14I think Mike McCarthy obviously has a relationship with him,
03:17and they know him.
03:18And it seems like they are open to him coming back.
03:21How would you go about this if you were Pittsburgh?
03:25Would you wait on things with Aaron Rodgers, or would you act on this?
03:30I know our guy, Booger.
03:32Booger said, I'm out.
03:34We've got to move past.
03:35You've got to move past this thing with Aaron Rodgers.
03:37I would go in a different direction and get this thing rolling right now
03:41and not let a 42-year-old hold us hostage.
03:43But how would you play this if you're Pittsburgh?
03:45Yeah, look, I don't – I mean, when people start talking about holding people hostage,
03:48like, that's silly.
03:49That's just a silly – that's a silly response to it.
03:52But, I mean, look, I think if I'm the Steelers, what I would do is I would draft a guy
03:58as high as I can that I think is legitimately one of – you know, has starter –
04:03NFL starter potential.
04:05I would have Will Howard there as well.
04:07And I would like for Aaron Rodgers to come back and play another year
04:14and let this guy become a pro and let this – let me, Mike McCarthy, let me train this guy
04:19and really focus on getting him to a point where he's ready when he steps in to play.
04:25In all the meantime, he sits behind a guy that plays an extremely high level.
04:29He sits behind a guy that processes the game at an elite level.
04:32And at the same time, the guys, at least on the offensive side of the football –
04:35I don't know about the whole roster, but the offensive side of the football,
04:37the DK Metcalfs of the world, you at least are giving yourself a chance to win ballgames.
04:42I mean, they were in the playoffs this year with Aaron.
04:45And they've got some money on the table where they're paying guys big money.
04:49I would go with Aaron Rodgers and I would have my next up in the holster.
04:54If that guy is available, I would be aggressive in finding that guy in the draft.
04:59That's where I would go.
05:01I mean, either way it goes at the quarterback position, if you choose to go –
05:03but Kyler Murray, you're still – I mean, it's still a veteran.
05:06There's still a huge risk there that you're wasting time.
05:09If you want to talk about personality traits that are a risk,
05:12I would say that Kyler is significantly more of a risk than Aaron Rodgers on a –
05:17I mean, I know he's younger, but just from a risk standpoint –
05:20Like that match with him and Mike McCarthy?
05:22Who, Kyler or Aaron?
05:24Kyler.
05:24Yeah, look, I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I mean –
05:27I'm talking about personality-wise, like Kyler and Mike McCarthy.
05:30I've got to – that's a risk.
05:32I mean, I've got to – if you've got a serious coach that's not just this 2026,
05:36anything goes type of mentality, I think Kyler's going to push some buttons.
05:42The thing is, is Kyler needs to go to a place where it's just plug and play.
05:46Minnesota is a perfect scenario where if you just get in there
05:50and you do quarterback things well, we don't need you to –
05:52you can keep playing your video games.
05:54You can be introverted.
05:56We don't need you to be this big-time leader.
05:59Maybe it works there with Kyler, but I don't think Mike McCarthy
06:03and Kyler would be a good match, but crazier things have happened.
06:07But I would go the route of –
06:08I don't think that's probably the route they go.
06:10You would or not?
06:11I don't think Kyler is in there.
06:13I don't either.
06:13I think they may jump right in because the quarterback, it's getting low now.
06:20And Aaron may be – or maybe they just go Will Howard
06:23and they get really aggressive.
06:24I know the kid from Alabama has been on the radar.
06:27Yep, good player.
06:28They may potentially go after with the quarterback.
06:31A lot of people think, hell, he may have a chance to be as good as Mendoza.
06:35I think Ty Simpson's got a real chance to be a lot better than –
06:38It feels different than Kenny Pickett.
06:39Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:41I think he's got a real chance to be a future star.
06:45I mean, and that's what you're looking for in the first round
06:47when you draft quarterbacks.
06:48But you don't – to me, you don't want to be – I think the safe thing to do
06:52is Aaron Rodgers, let this kid develop, show him how the game's supposed to be played,
06:57at least mentally.
06:58I mean, if you don't like Aaron's leadership style
06:59or for whatever reason you feel like he's toxic,
07:01at least you're watching a guy play and talk the game at the line of scrimmage
07:06in an elite way.
07:08And there's some real value in that when you've got a quarterback sitting in the wing.
07:13So, yeah, I would sit him a year.
07:15I would have a Ty Simpson and even – what's the other kid's name?
07:18I just said it, but I forgot it.
07:19The Ohio State –
07:20Oh, Will Howard.
07:20Will Howard.
07:21Ideal, a year from now, if you've got Will Howard and Ty Simpson competition,
07:25I think you legitimately could think you're going to win some games.
