00:20It was such a, I mean that was an amazing thing to be able to get that made because that
00:26was Reese and I who, I don't, you've probably, some of you have seen it, but Reese Witherspoon and I
00:31produced and managed to get this TV show made and it was a huge success.

00:38But I always say that's when women choose to combine their power, they can get things done. Am I right?

00:53And it's, when did you realize how successful it was?
00:57Well, it was weird because when it first came out, I remember calling going, oh, I was hoping it'd be
01:01a little bit more successful or, I mean, I was like, oh, maybe it's not going to hit the place
01:09we really wanted it to hit and then it just started to snowball.
01:12And the great thing was because it was on HBO, everyone had to wait each week to see the next
01:18step.
01:18So then I was suddenly being recognized in airports and on airplanes and women were coming up to me in
01:26the street and talking about the character and what was going to happen next.
01:31And I was getting texts from Keith's friends and people were saying, we're staying in Sunday night.
01:38We're ordering pizza.
01:38We put the kids to bed and we can't wait to watch.
01:40And then I thought, wow, this is working.
01:43Wait.
01:43It was amazing.
01:44What do you mean you suddenly got recognized?
01:47Well.
01:48What is that?
01:49Like nobody knew who you were before this?
01:52No, but I haven't had a film that's besides Lion, which I play a real.
01:58Yeah.
01:59Which you were so supportive of from the beginning.
02:02Great film.
02:03But I haven't had a film that's really kind of penetrated into the psyche of the world for a long
02:10time.
02:10And television is a whole different thing, being in people's homes and also, like you said, people waiting to see
02:17the next one and what's going to happen.
02:19And I love it.

02:20I love being in people's homes.

02:27But I feel closer to people because of it, so.
02:31I know that you got, you know, those scenes were intense.
02:34Those scenes were physical.
02:35You really got hurt, right?
02:37I think I felt a sense of duty that I wanted to give truth to such a complicated story and
02:46I wanted it to be incredibly real for the audience.
02:50And so I threw my, I got lost in it and I threw myself into it to the point where
02:55I would come home at night with, you know, bruises and really sore.
03:01I mean, he would grab me and really, and Alexander did not mean to do this.
03:07It was just, and I would never tell him that he was hurting me because I wanted him to commit
03:11to the scenes.
03:12Mm-hm.
03:12So that then when people watch them as an audience, they go, I can feel that somehow this is real.
03:19Yeah.
03:20And that was important to me because the storyline is about domestic abuse and that's a very, very important, serious,
03:28relevant subject right now.
03:29Yeah.
03:29It was, it was intense.
03:30It was amazing to watch.
03:31If you haven't seen it, yeah, she's in a dysfunctional relationship.
03:36Just, just, just a heads up.
03:38But so, so Lion, as you said, was up for an Academy Award and a great, great film, beautiful film.
03:46And you got some, a lot of attention for the way you were clapping.
