00:00Welcome back to GMA, live from Times Square.
00:06Welcome back to GMA, everybody.
00:08And happy Friday to everyone out there at home.
00:10And happy Friday to our incredible audience.
00:13Happy Friday, everybody.
00:18All right, I think we were all, for those of us who saw La La Land,
00:21blown away by the opening number, right?
00:23Oh, so great.
00:25Well, one teenager from Arizona was so inspired by the movie,
00:28he decided to recreate this scene for an epic promposal
00:33for none other than Academy Award winner Emma Stone.
00:36Take a look and see what he did.
00:38Prom's April 29th.
00:40You're an Oscar winner.
00:41I've got two of my own.
00:43So maybe I could buy you dinner.
00:46It'll make my night.
00:47And maybe make yours too blue-blue.
00:50All right, the young man behind the viral video is Jacob Stadenmayer,
00:54and he is joining us now from Phoenix, Arizona.
00:56Good morning to you, Jacob.
00:59How are you guys doing?
01:00All right, so the video is great.
01:02I actually watched the whole thing.
01:03How did you come up with the idea?
01:07Well, there were a couple factors that played into it.
01:09But first of all, the initial inspiration was a kid that went to my school
01:14about two or three years ago.
01:16He actually promposed to Miley Cyrus, and that just gave me a big inspiration.
01:22I thought I had to follow it up.
01:24And having seen Emma Stone in La La Land, absolutely killing it in her performance,
01:30I saw the movie three times myself.
01:32And especially knowing that she's from Arizona, I thought it just would be a perfect idea.
01:37And being an aspiring filmmaker, I knew I had to be big and ambitious with it.
01:42Yes.
01:43Go big or go home.
01:44I love it.
01:45I love it.
01:49Jacob.
01:53Has anyone told you you look like Ryan Gosling?
01:58Well, it started out as a little bit of a joke in my film class and kind of grew from
02:03there.
02:03So I thought it'd be kind of a funny thing to put in the video,
02:07but now it's just spread around,
02:08and I don't think anyone's going to let that down at my school anymore.
02:13Well, but you must have...
02:16Well, Jacob, I can say there are much worse things than being compared to Ryan Gosling.
02:20I think you're doing okay.
02:21But how did you convince everyone to be part of this?
02:26Well, I mean, I've done a lot of crazy projects before.
02:29Obviously, nothing as crazy as this.
02:31But my friends know that I love film and that I'm very passionate about it.
02:35So I think once they saw the lyrics and that I was trying to make this a reality,
02:40they wanted to be a part of it and, you know, be in that video.
02:44And, Jacob, your mom had a role on with this, too.
02:47She worked on the set.
02:48What was her job on the set?
02:51Well, she was a self-proclaimed snack mom, as she liked to call it,
02:57where she, you know, delivered food to everyone,
03:00which is always a great job.
03:02But she's just a great motivation for me,
03:04as is my father and my whole family and all the friends there.
03:08Everyone was just great support and helped make that happen.
03:11All right, Jacob, here's a big question.
03:13Everybody here is wondering, have you heard back from Emma Stone?
03:17I have.
03:19And I have the letter right here.
03:25So, Emma said,
03:27Jacob, in all caps,
03:29thanks for making the greatest proposal I've ever received.
03:32I can't tell you what an honor that was
03:34and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video.
03:38I'm in London working,
03:39but I hope you have the best time at prom,
03:41and I'm grateful you thought of me.
03:43Thank you, in all caps,
03:44and she added,
03:45P.S. I do see gosling around the eyes.
03:47Well, Emma.
03:49Yes!
03:53I tell you what, Jacob,
03:55if Emma says it, it must be true.
03:57She would know.
03:58She would know.
03:59You're still going to the prom, right?
04:02Oh, of course.
04:03Yeah, I'm going to have a great time still with all my friends.
04:06I tell you what, Jacob,
04:08it was very creative.
04:09It's really awesome.
04:10I know you, you're an aspiring filmmaker.
04:12We wish you the best.
04:13Maybe one day you'll be on the show
04:15talking about your next big Hollywood hit.
04:17All right.
04:17That's what we hope for you, my friend.
04:19Thanks so much for having me.
04:20You're welcome.
04:20Thanks so much for having me.
04:22Thank you.
04:22Great job.
04:25Let's go.
04:26Let's go.
04:29Grazie a tutti.
