00:00UPSC and its hype. Many students especially the youth blindly chase this
00:04exam. Is it really worth it given that the success rate is less than 1% and the
00:09number of applicants runs into lacks. Students come from very underprivileged
00:15areas and sometimes their parents sell their little pieces of land just so that
00:22their son can avail coaching services in Delhi. Over the years even the little
00:28ancestral hut is sold off so that the coaching fees can be paid. There is no
00:34problem selling off everything. The question is for what? For what? Has there
00:39been a rational assessment or is it just a blind craze? The student comes there
00:46feeling that if I do not get selected that is the end of life for me. He has
00:51been made to feel like that. Continuous glamorization of the civil
00:56services mostly by the coaching institutes. The extent to which they go to create the
01:02impression that IAS is the real deal. The Big Apple. How will we innovate? How will
01:08there be any entrepreneurship if the youth of this country is spending its prime
01:14years? It's golden time. Just running after a government job.
