00:00I'm kind of pretty chill. So like it on the scale of freaking me out, it's like a two out
00:05of 10.
00:06Well, it looks like Hudson Williams has gone from a two to a 10. At the beginning of the year,
00:11he subtly addressed the intense interest in his personal life. There are going to be people who
00:16just have crazy reactions to it, but those people can kind of go like take a hike because the people
00:23who have a healthy reaction to it are the only people that I care about or really respect for
00:29having like a developed frontal cortex. But now he's hitting back at Heedled Rivalry's toxic fandom.
00:35On March 9th, he posted this to Instagram Story. Don't call yourself a fan if you share racist,
00:41homophobic, biphobic, misogynistic, ageist, ableist, parasocial, bigoted comments of any kind.
00:49None of us need your hateful love. We all respect and support and love each other and are on the
00:55same side if you can't accept that GTFOH. In other words, get the F out of here.
01:01The term parasocial refers to the unhealthy bond a person might feel towards a character or a
01:07celebrity, despite not actually knowing them. Three of Hudson's co-stars shared the same message
01:12on Instagram, including Francois Arnault, who plays Scott Hunter in the drama.
01:17Francois, who is 40, has dealt with disturbing online messages and even death threats amid romance
01:23rumors between him and Connor Story, who is 26. Fans have bizarrely painted him as predatory
01:29because of their age difference. In January, Francois told the Toronto Star,
01:33I think it's a lot of younger fans who don't really understand the difference between reality
01:37and fiction. I honestly wish they would just re-watch the show because it doesn't seem like
01:42they got its message. Pay attention more closely. Did we watch the same show?
01:46As for Hudson Williams, who plays closeted gay hockey player Shane Hollander,
01:51he hard-launched his girlfriend over Valentine's Day without revealing her name.
01:55His most recent Instagram story is the first time the Canadian actor has addressed hateful social
02:00media comments. He's also been subjected to anti-Asian slurs, particularly on X.
02:06Since the show's premiere, series creator Jacob Tierney, who is openly gay, has been very protective
02:11of the cast, talking about their private lives and sexual orientations. Last month, he shut down
02:17the toxic fan convo on Loon Call, a Game Changers podcast.
02:21The, the, you know, this segment of the fandom that has become toxic and saying horrible things
02:27about my actors and about characters and demanding I do things to either denounce or stand up for
02:33some imaginary Twitter fight that I'm like, I'm not, I'm not here for this. I'm not participating,
02:39I'm not paying attention.
02:40Touche. In the meantime, Heated Rivalry's breakout stars will have to navigate the challenges of
02:46overnight success, as viewers eagerly await for season two, slated for April 2027.
02:53Yep, that's over a year away.
