00:00Less than four years after a peace agreement ended civil war in Ethiopia's Tigray region,
00:05conflict is looming once again.
00:08The two-year war killed thousands of people when government troops fought Tigrayan forces.
00:14Now civilians aren't waiting for the fighting to start.
00:18They're already starting to flee.
00:21We hate war with bitterness.
00:24We miss the peace we had before.
00:26We really hate war.
00:27What we need now is peace by whatever means.
00:31We don't need someone who will force us to fight again.
00:36Memories of the 2020 conflict are still fresh,
00:39and residents fear what could come next
00:42as federal and Tigrayan forces gather at the shared border in northern Ethiopia.
00:50We are really scared.
00:52During the last war, I was pregnant.
00:54I had to flee from here to Meconi.
00:57I suffered a lot during delivery.
01:00All that suffering had passed, and we returned here.
01:03But again, we're scared.
01:05We're really terrified.
01:07The 2022 truce was never properly implemented,
01:11and relations have remained volatile.
01:14Now there are fears Eritrea could back Tigray rebels.
01:22In 2020, many civilians died here, not only those who went to fight.
01:28Civilians who stayed behind also died.
01:34That's why people are now leaving their property behind and fleeing.
01:38Many young people died, those who could have had children,
01:42those who were productive.
01:45We gain nothing from war.
01:47We want the next generation to live in peace.
01:52We want unity, reconciliation and peace.
01:56If war breaks out again, we will perish.
02:01The previous conflict was brutal,
02:04with allegations of sexual violence and withholding food as weapons of war.
02:09Now residents are hoping to escape, while they still can.
02:13The next generation to pick through the world's family,
02:15And again,
