00:07Parliament. Peers have approved the Tobacco and Vapes Bill at its third reading in the House of
00:13Lords. The proposal would stop anyone born on or after January 1, 2009 from ever legally buying
00:21cigarettes. Ministers have said that smoking remains the leading preventable cause of death,
00:26illness and disability. The bill would also introduce new powers to regulate vaping products
00:32including flavours, ingredients and packaging. Some peers have warned the measures could give
00:38ministers wide authority and must be based on clear evidence and scrutiny.
