06:47They're going out, Gordon Early, and they're going to count it, plus the foul.
06:52AG with the N1.
06:53That was a nasty N1, but he got it done.
06:56And I don't mean nasty in a good way.
06:58I was going to say, let's clarify what type of nasty you're talking about here.
07:02He does a great job to just continue to play kind of a stutter step.
07:07Euro, Kasem Wallace did a good job of calling that, but he just kept playing through.
07:11And guys, that's number two on Kasem Wallace.
07:14He's not even two minutes into this game.
07:16Now, Austin, how much of the weight room was that on that holdoff of SGA?
07:20The fullbacks.
07:21Oh, my goodness.
07:22Aaron Gordon, man, that's a strong dude.
07:25So, Wallace staying in the game with the two early fouls.
07:29Here's Gilgis Alexander.
07:31Around the horn, knocked out of bounds.
07:32Nice hands by Johnson.
07:379-5 start for Denver.
07:40And Mark Dagnolk really knew that this was a Denver team,
07:44given the way that the last game ended in overtime 10 days ago here
07:47and their last game against the Knicks, losing by 39.
07:51He knew this fast start was imminent,
07:53but they've got that kind of Sella down and one opportunity for SGA.
07:57That's a ridiculous shot right there.
07:59I mean, Christian Brown is right there with him,
08:02fouls him on the jump shot.
08:04But just the strength to get that there, Austin,
08:07that's an absurd make there by SGA.
08:09It was.
08:10He hung in the air, even got touched on the elbow.
08:13It's just different watching him in person.
08:15I mean, the pace he plays at,
08:19he just plays like he's on the court by himself.
08:22You can't teach that.
08:23It must be nice to just step out there and be like,
08:25yeah, I'm getting 25 or 30 tonight.
08:27And that's what he does.
08:28Every time he plays, he's putting up numbers.
08:31We can make it his 126th consecutive 20-point game tonight
08:35if he can reach it.
08:36After the miss, Isaiah Joe up ahead for SGA.
08:41Attack to the rim.
08:42Spray it out.
08:43Joe's three.
08:45And the rebound to Gordon.
08:48Push it.
08:49Murray.
08:50They're just glad to see him out there.
08:52David Edelman said this is the toughest guy he's been around.
08:54Yoko to have knocked away.
08:56Saved by Wallace into the hands of Johnson.
08:58Set the feed.
08:59Gordon's three.
09:00Money.
09:00There you go.
09:03Got that feel.
09:04And Austin, I love, though, the Aaron Gordon.
09:07It's early around the rim.
09:08It's making a play for somebody else.
09:09And then you get a transition three and you knock it down.
09:12But he got himself into the game and into some rhythm early.
09:15Absolutely.
09:16Jalen Williams' response.
09:18Just off the mark.
09:20Oklahoma City, one for five to start this game from three-point territory.
09:24They were blistering from three the other night.
09:26And in the first matchup on February 1st in Denver against the Nuggets.
09:31Bully ball again for Gordon.
09:32Oh, that was unorthodox.
09:34Yeah, that's just a big dog.
09:35That's just a big dog in there.
09:37He hungry tonight.
09:38Man, you do that against these OKC guards.
09:40It can really guard in the painted area.
09:43What a start for Aaron Gordon.
09:44He's got the last ten for Denver.
09:46Dortmiss fires.
09:47Gordon collects another rebound.
09:49He's all over the place.
09:50Well, he said he was going to get to the gym earlier today to make sure he was fully warm.
09:54Oh, he's hot.
09:55Forget warm.
09:56He's scorching.
09:5813 for Gordon.
10:00Okay.
10:0117-8 start.
10:03He's got the last 13 for Denver.
10:07It's the Aaron Gordon show.
10:11Oklahoma City getting the full look at the arsenal.
10:13The next Aaron Gordon just three points on one of seven shooting.
10:18He got that throughly bucket and couldn't find the rim the rest of the way.
10:20So far tonight, 13 points on four or five for the floor.
10:24He's got the last 13 for the Nuggets as they've taken a nine-point lead.
10:28He talked rhythm.
10:29I don't think that's the case anymore.
10:31No.
10:33Wallace couldn't finish.
10:34On the OKC side of things, Mark Dagnall talking about in that last huddle about just that
10:39they don't have the personnel on the floor to gamble.
10:42Have to stay straight up.
10:43Have to stay to the game plan.
10:44You go through the passing lanes a couple times, and all of a sudden you've got guys
10:48going to the rim, and they don't have guys to contest it tonight.
10:51That is tough from Jamal Murray.
10:53My goodness, did you see that turnaround?
10:55Oh.
10:56That was early in the shot clock.
10:58Yes, it was.
10:58Let's not forget that Denver got off to a 13-4 start against the Knicks the other night.
11:04Ended up being down by 40-plus, but a 10-0 run here.
11:07Joe trying to find some space.
11:09Four to shoot.
11:09Williams is going to have to force one.
11:11Johnson all over him.
11:12Williams got it off.
11:13Comes up short.
11:14Jokic collects.
11:16Austin, how good was that defense from Aaron Gordon?
11:18Just staying down in a stance and containing Isaiah Joe.
11:22Nice lob inside.
11:23It's Gordon in traffic, and he's fouled.
11:25They will not count that putback, but it should be two more free throws for A.G.
11:31See right here, Jamal just operating.
11:34Nice little half spin.
11:35Great defense, just better off.
11:37That's just part of playing in the NBA, man.
11:39You guard guys like that.
11:40And here, you've already seen it early.
11:42We've touched on it, the size advantage.
11:44Aaron Gordon just having his way, especially with Nikola, with him hanging out up top.
11:50It's drawing Jalen Williams out.
11:52There's just no size down there.
11:53You know, I'm pretty envious that you could have a guy in Aaron Gordon miss all this time,
11:59and they're like, well, he's got to find his rhythm.
12:00And after one game that's bad, it's like, well, the rhythm has been found.
12:05This has been an impressive start.
12:06Check it out tonight's DraftKings live story.

12:16What a return.
12:17A.J. Mitchell finally back after six weeks on the shelf.
12:21Had an injury with the abdomen and then actually had a setback with an ankle as he was working his
12:27way back to competition.
12:28But back on the floor, that's a huge boost for Oklahoma City, averaging over 14 points per game in year
12:33number two in the NBA.
12:35I mean, you're talking about one of the most improved players in this league, Noah.
12:38So to get him back, huge for OKC.
12:40It's honestly, though, been incredible.
12:42And I think Denver has dealt with this as well, that as guys have been in and out of the
12:46lineup,
12:47it just hasn't mattered for the Thunder.
12:49I think for Denver, it's been a bit more of an adjustment.
12:51But OKC, regardless of who they've had, they have just rolled through people.
12:59So deep, man.
13:00That's what you could do when you have 10, 11, 12 guys that can play ball at a high level.
13:04Yeah, I mean, like Kenrich Williams on any given night, he can give you 15.
13:07You look at the way Jared McCain has played here since coming over from Philadelphia.
13:11Aaron Wiggins can really score the ball.
13:13They just have really good players, 1 through 14.
13:16I actually thought it was really interesting what Alex Caruso said about Jared McCain and why he fits so well.
13:21He said the way he plays is actually kind of like a mini Isaiah Joe in the sense that he
13:26shoots so well.
13:26His gravity is pretty impressive.
13:28But he also understands, based on the threat of his jump shot from the outside,
13:32how else he can affect with his movement.
13:34It fits into this offense seamlessly as Gordon got it up.
13:38And we'll get two more free throws.
13:40They are featuring Gordon in this first quarter.
13:43Austin, you think the game plan is to go inside here?
13:45Yeah.
13:46Every time down the floor, they're going to give it to him.
13:48He's got 15 first quarter pull-pits.
13:50Well, listen, there's just nobody down there that can physically check him right now,
13:55especially without Hartenstein and Chet.
13:57They're just light.
13:59And, you know, Nicola's doing a great job, as he does,
14:02of just putting himself in a position where he's drawing his man out.
14:06Robbie, was that you screaming?
14:09No.
14:09No, I restrained myself that time.
14:11No.
14:11I was on my side, unfortunately.
14:14He's got two more.
14:15I just figured DeMar DeRozan's daughter somehow got in here.
14:18He restrained himself there.
14:20He's got two more, by the way.
14:21I told you, I've got three fans.
14:23Is it the kid next to you?
14:24Yeah, he's 12, but I'll get him kicked out, no problem.
14:27I've gotten kids kicked out of here before.
14:29It's not the first time.
14:30I'll play the first.
14:32SGA took it.
14:33Dort sets the feet.
14:35Pure on the plate.
14:37They need one of those to go home, Robbie.
14:38A big shot for his confidence.
14:40Nine of his last 34 from three for Lou Dort over the last six games.
14:45They're going to help out on the dribble drive.
14:47They're going to need to make some shots from the perimeter.
14:48Steele, Mitchell to the rim, and he's back.
14:56And that's one of the ways they could stay in the game,
14:59forcing turnovers, making this a fast-paced game,
15:02getting Nicola up and down.
15:03Murray right back at you.
15:05Well, Austin, that's the thing that in this first quarter,
15:08OKC's defense has not impacted the Denver Nuggets in any way.
15:12They have not been able to force turnovers until that last one.
15:15SGA, mid-range assassins.
15:18He just gets to wherever he needs to on the floor
15:20and then just rises up.
15:21His touch on the two-pointer is something like I've never seen.
15:24And it's amazing, Austin,
15:25and a shot that is so discouraged now
15:27for him to shoot it in such an efficient manner.
15:30The physicality.
15:31Murray through the contact is money.
15:34And he's another one.
15:35You know, we talk about Shea all the time.
15:36Jamal Murray has a steady diet of mid-range jump shots.
15:39He's one of the more skilled three-level players in our game.
15:43Dort, attack on Jokic.
15:45Those two, the history from a week and a half ago,
15:46and Jokic wins this battle.
15:48You can live with those.
15:48That's outside of his game right there.
15:50He doesn't take a whole lot of those.
15:52A lot of it's at the rim and from three.
15:54That's why.
15:54Here's the matchup on the other end.
15:57Mark Dignall said,
15:58Oh, what a pass.
15:58It's not going to be a steady diet of defense.
16:00What a finish.
16:01Aaron Gordon.
16:02Oh, wow.
16:02He can do no wrong in this opening quarter.
16:05Jokic with a dime.
16:07Gordon with a finish.
16:08Denver clicking on all cylinders early.
16:12The reverse.
16:13It's no coincidence.
16:14It's this guy right here.
16:15Aaron Gordon up to the hot start.
16:17He's doing it from all areas on the floor.
16:19First a little spot shot.
16:21Now coming off handoffs.
16:23Nobody does best.
16:24He's hanging on that baseline.
16:25Maybe a little too far baseline.
16:27He got away with this one,
16:28but that's his little area right there.
16:31Yeah, clearly out of bounds
16:32and never reestablished himself before that last dunk.
16:36He's back on the bench.
16:37We'll monitor his minutes.
16:38Tim Hardaway Jr. on the floor.
16:40Kenrich Williams out there for OKC.
16:42So is Jared McCain,
16:43who doesn't get the roll.
16:44Williams knocked that out of Jokic's hands.
16:46Williams couldn't squeeze it.
16:48Jokic gets there.
16:49McCain tried to swipe at it.
16:52In a hurry, it's Hardaway.
16:54And it knocks out of his hands.
16:56He just tried to make the argument
16:59that it was off of Jalen Williams.
17:00Instead, it's going to be a turnover on Denver.
17:03This is an OKC team that turns over
17:05their opponents more than anybody in the NBA.
17:07Leads in points off turnovers.
17:09And they've got two right there.
17:12And he's quickly,
17:13he's watching the defensive help.
17:15He knows they're coming.
17:17He waited for Nicola to clear
17:19and then just quickly drove.
17:20And he's just such a talented scorer.
17:22It's beyond his skills.
17:22It's the way he thinks and plays the game.
17:25Murray, no.
17:26Here we go.
17:27Williams, rebound.
17:29Like so far,
17:31let's talk about how they've been officiating this game.
17:32I love it.
17:33Mitchell!
17:36Jokic corrals.
17:37What is his fourth rebound
17:38to go with four points and three assists?
17:40Eight minutes in.
17:42Had a triple-double in the overtime loss
17:45ten days ago here.
17:47One of his 100-plus triple-doubles
17:52in his career is 187
17:55as Hardaway rims out.
17:57That's a tough one,
17:58so he had to catch that high
17:59and keep it high.
18:00Those aren't easy threes to shoot.
18:01He's kind of struggled
18:02with that jumper there, Austin.
18:03Four of his last 18 from three.
18:05Mitchell, that's impressive.
18:07And that's what he can bring this team.
18:09He's a three-level guy,
18:10can shoot it from three,
18:11can make shots in the midrange,
18:13can get to the rim.
18:14A.J. Mitchell,
18:15what another piece for OKC
18:17to get back in their rotation.
18:19Mark Dagnall loves the fact
18:20that he doesn't press when he's in there
18:22for a team that's so good.
18:24He understands that his opportunity comes
18:26with letting the game come to him.
18:28Jokic thought he was fouled.
18:29Here comes Oklahoma City
18:30back with an eight.
18:31But Jalen Williams,
18:33he just was not letting Jokic move him.
18:35SGA got his own miss.
18:38Extra pass to the corner.
18:40Williams drive.
18:41Can't finish, but a foul.
18:43And if it's Murray,
18:44it's number two in all likelihood,
18:46although Dixon was just as first.
18:50SGA, man,
18:51it's just so impressive
18:53to see the ease
18:54that he scores the ball with.
18:55You can get A.J. Mitchell
18:57coming off,
18:57a little drop coverage,
18:58take what the defense has given you,
19:00and just rise up from 15.
19:02And I love the fact
19:03that Kenrich Williams
19:04is catching that
19:05with a full head of steam
19:06already going downhill.
19:09Oklahoma City,
19:10give them credit here, guys.
19:11They have weathered a tough start
19:13and they're finding a rhythm here
19:14late in this first quarter.
19:16Isn't this exactly
19:17what Mark Dagnall expected
19:18to happen tonight?
19:19He said he knew the energy
19:21from Denver
19:22was going to be off the charts
19:23and they would have to find a way
19:24to counterpunch.
19:25Well, MLB opening day
19:26is on NBC and Peacock.
19:28And to lead off,
19:29the Pirates visit
19:30at the Mets.
19:30And in primetime,
19:31it's the Diamondbacks
19:32against the World Series
19:33champion Dodgers
19:34March 26th
19:36on NBC and Peacock.
19:39Williams will get
19:40one more free throw
19:41and Mark Dagnall
19:42was singing the praises
19:43of this guy
19:44and what he's meant
19:45to this team.
19:46And Kenrich,
19:47actually,
19:47after the last game,
19:48was talking about
19:49how grateful he is
19:50to have been a part
19:51of this organization
19:52as long as he has.
19:53He feels like everybody
19:54helps each of the players
19:55to achieve their personal
19:56and team goals
19:58and the turnaround
19:59that they had
20:00from the rebuild
20:01to champion
20:02happened so fast.
20:03He said going from losing
20:04a lot to winning 50-plus
20:06in three-plus seasons
20:07always provides
20:08that extra level
20:09of motivation
20:10and also perspective
20:11needed to keep it rolling.
20:12as Jokic fires
20:13and connects on a three.
20:15Nice, patient basketball.
20:17They dared him.
20:18We're going to give him
20:19that much room.
20:19You've got to trust it
20:20and let it fly.
20:20You knock down one now,
20:22you have to react
20:23a little bit differently.
20:24SGA lost the foot
20:25and Struthers right there.
20:27Brown's trying to crowd him
20:27and it's going to be
20:28a jump ball.
20:30Noah, where do you guys
20:32in Austin U2,
20:32where do you guys stand
20:33on the whole, like,
20:34make Jokic
20:35just shoot more threes?
20:37And I'm not saying
20:38he needs to shoot,
20:39you know,
20:39obviously what he can do
20:41inside the paint,
20:42but he can really
20:43shoot the ball, too.
20:44You know,
20:44it's just,
20:45it's such an interesting
20:46concept where you're like,
20:48wait, we should make
20:48this guy shoot more.
20:49He's shooting 39%
20:50from three on the year.
20:52I think it's hilarious
20:53that people think
20:54they can make Nicola
20:55do anything he doesn't.
20:56Yeah, right.
20:56He'll shoot what he wants
20:58and when they give him
20:59room, he'll just eat up
21:00the space, you know.
21:02Williams got hit
21:03and he's got the bucket.
21:05It's a chance
21:06for four for J. Will.
21:12We talked about it
21:14earlier in this first quarter.
21:15He's been shooting the ball
21:16well these last four games.
21:19Bruce Brown just gets
21:20caught up in that landing
21:21space, touch the paint
21:22and spray it.
21:23What a read there by SGA
21:25and Jalen Williams'
21:27opportunity for four.
21:28He misses.
21:29He was too high.
21:31He's too high.
21:32He got that 8-1.
21:33He barely grades the rim
21:34on that.
21:34This is a guy that
21:35everything he does in terms
21:36of on-floor contributions
21:38is already a lot
21:39but his energy
21:40and how it permeates
21:41for the rest of the team
21:42might be his best quality.
21:44His straw is too strong.
21:45Jalen Williams couldn't
21:45claim it.
21:46Here comes OKC.
21:48Back within six.
21:49And it's SGA.
21:50Oh my goodness.
21:51That is absurd.
21:55Look at him just smiling
21:56and laughing.
21:57Just taking it easy.
22:02SGA in the open floor.
22:03In and out cross.
22:04Just nasty going full speed.
22:06There's no defense for that.
22:08And just like that,
22:09this crowd.

22:24There's a cocopony of noises
22:27that come from
22:28KCOM Center during the game.
22:31Final two minutes
22:33of its opening border.
22:34What a game we have.
22:36It's been a tale of two sides
22:37of the quarter.
22:39Here we go.
22:40Offensive foul.
22:41Go on the other way.
22:42Momentum is completely
22:42shipped here this first quarter.
22:44And it's Bruce Brown
22:45picking up a quick second.
22:48Getting OKC a lot of credit
22:49for the poise they've shown here.
22:51That just comes from experience,
22:52right, Robbie?
22:53I mean, they've just seen it all.
22:55A team that's been through
22:56what they have
22:56and the way they've handled
22:58everything this year
22:59and adversity doesn't shake
23:00this group
23:01and that's been the case
23:02in this first quarter.
23:04Williams, Mitchell, McCain,
23:06Gilgis, Alexander,
23:07and Jalen Williams
23:08are the five on the floor.
23:09McCain gives it up.
23:11Mitchell is six to shoot.
23:12Hesitates.
23:13Spins.
23:14Puts the head down.
23:15Gets two!
23:16How about the way
23:17he kept that alive there, guys?
23:19That spin move, man.
23:20A lot of guys
23:20picked their dribble up there.
23:22AJ Mitchell was not to be denied.
23:24He did a great job
23:25of stopping in the air.
23:28Brown.
23:29Can't get the flutter.
23:30It's a 13-3 OKC run
23:32and they can tire
23:33take the lead here.
23:35For the lead,
23:36it's Williams.
23:37Go on!
23:45Man, these dudes are good.
23:48Hardaway
23:49quiets the crowd.
23:49What an answer.
23:50A big three.
23:52We got an Ali-Frazier type game here.
23:54I mean, these are two heavyweight teams.
23:57We don't have to say much, do we?
23:59The crowd will say a lot for us.
24:01Man, these players will say a lot.
24:03Unbelievable talent on the floor
24:04we're getting to watch right now.
24:06High-level energy.
24:06Two-for-one opportunity for OKC.
24:09It's SGA against Strother.
24:11Five to shoot now for Mitchell.
24:13Three to shoot.
24:13Gets into the paint.
24:14Fades.
24:15And fills it up.
24:16Man, he's big time.
24:17And just the return.
24:18I mean, this is the first time
24:19we've seen AJ Mitchell
24:21in 20 games.
24:22And he's come out here
24:23ready to go.
24:26It's the three-level scoring too, Robbie.
24:28Hardaway.
24:29Another three.
24:30He's just a dart.
24:31Just a straight, dead shooter.
24:34Can't give him any space.
24:35We talked about his struggles.
24:36It doesn't deter guys like that.
24:38He's been around too long
24:39playing at a high level.
24:40Mitchell.
24:41He's got it working.
24:42That's a nasty floater.
24:44Get to the body.
24:45Knock your defender back.
24:46But still not an easy shot.
24:48What touch from AJ Mitchell.
24:50High-scoring opening quarter.
24:52Shot clock off with 10 seconds left.
24:55High screen from Jokic.
24:57Attack mode for Hardaway.
24:58All the way to the bucket for two.
25:00He's come alive here.
25:02He's got a couple to go down
25:02beyond the arc now.
25:03It opens up the lane.
25:05Good patience, good balance.
25:07Right at the glass.
25:085.4 seconds left in this first quarter.
25:10Gilgis Alexander with three.
25:12Kenrich Williams will load it up.
25:14Short.
25:14Rebound.
25:15And no whistle comes.
25:18Mitchell thought maybe there might have been some contact.
25:20But what an opening quarter.
25:22Aaron Gordard with a high of 19 points for any quarter this season.
25:27One away from a career high.
25:28They lead at 40-37 despite the Thunder shooting 52%.
25:32You're watching Peacock NBA Monday presented by Xfinity.
25:37Here with Coach Dudley.
25:39Coach, high-scoring first quarter.
25:40Obviously, you guys gave a lot of points last outing versus the Knicks.
25:43High-scoring first quarter.
25:44What are some ways you guys can touch up and polish up on the defensive side?
25:47It's tough with Shea out there.
25:48They're going five out.
25:49It's good the job to test our five out, deep the rotation, our shell.
25:52Trying to keep our five-man low so it's easier to trap the box.
25:55But too many middle drives.
25:57Once they get to the middle, opens up a lot of threes.
26:00You touched on it a little bit.
26:01But Shea, he's such an offensive force.
26:03He presents so many challenges.
26:05What are some ways that you guys can maybe junk up the pain
26:07or find ways to slow him down, keep him out of that box?
26:10Definitely trying to trap him in the empty corners, trying to show bodies.
26:13They got a lot of shooters out there.
26:14But for us, it's once we show bodies, it's that second guy having to slice it
26:18to make them have to pump.
26:19They get that three to make them put the ball down.
26:21Best of luck the rest of the way.
26:25Shout-out to Jared Dudley.
26:26His first season now with the Denver Nuggets
26:28after he spent a couple years in Dallas as an assistant coach.
26:31And, Austin, you've gotten a chance to know Jared Dudley for many years.
26:35over the years, both as a player and now as an assistant coach.
26:38Yeah, it doesn't surprise me he's coaching, man.
26:39He's always had a mind for it.
26:41It doesn't.
26:41You know, he's always been a guy who's like to talk the game.
26:44You always kind of feel that out when you go out to dinners
26:46and you hang out and extracurricular activities outside of basketball.
26:50Who still likes to talk about basketball?
26:52Dudley has always been a basketball guy.
26:53So, it doesn't surprise me.
26:56And he's obviously done a great job of just the transition from playing
26:59to now being on the front of a bench, I'm sure, head coach soon.
27:03Fifth 40-point first quarter this season for the Denver Nuggets.
27:06Robbie, what'd you get coming out of that first quarter huddle?
27:08Well, it was all about the response.
27:10He preached to his team, Mark Dagnall did, about being solid.
27:14He also mentioned they've got a rebound.
27:16And that's obvious with the guys they've got out.
27:18But with some of these small lineups, they're going to have to gang rebound.
27:21All five on the floor.
27:23But Coach Dagnall loved the response of his team, and understandably so.
27:29So, OKC has the basketball to begin this second quarter.
27:32An early foul called against Jonas Valanciunas in his first action.
27:36And Lou Dort rips the cords on the three.
27:39Just a great read, though, from A.J. Mitchell.
27:41You see that drop coverage.
27:43You know you got Lou Dort picking and popping.
27:45You make the right play and set the table.
27:48Man, they're going way under Bruce Brown.
27:52Martaway got hot at the end of the first quarter.
27:55Hook it inside Valanciunas, that's what he does.
27:57Great patience by Valanciunas, keeping that ball high so it doesn't get stripped and then the touch.
28:02But that's one where if you've got the tag, you better meet him high,
28:05or else you are way too late at that point at the restricted area.
28:08He's just too big.
28:09Yeah, too big, too much of a force.
28:11Denver shooting 60% from the floor, five of eight from three-point territory.
28:17On the drive, Gordon.
28:18He goes right through Isaiah Chilton, threw it to no man's land.
28:21He thought Valanciunas was waiting for it.
28:23And it sails out of bounds.
28:26Well, Dort had been struggling with his jumper, but he's been good on the night.
28:30There's the pick and pop, and that's A.J. Mitchell perfectly reading that pick and roll defense.
28:35You know he's going to get a handful of them.
28:37He's going to be open.
28:38Dort and Caruso both are kind of the odd men out when it comes to what they're willing to give
28:42up.
28:42With so much offense on the floor and so much attention on Shea, those are usually the guys.
28:47Oh, turning back the clock, he'll get two free throws.
28:52Hey, Timmy.
28:53Timmy's my age, so I know it hurts.
28:55Did you get offended by the turning back the clock?
28:58I get offended by a lot of things you say, Noah, but you know what?
29:01I'm just kidding.
29:03He's just been, it shows when you can shoot, you can play forever.
29:08You know, and this guy is just a dead-eye shooter.
29:10And he shows right there, he's got a little bit of that capability, man.
29:12He can get up.
29:13But the gravity that you have when you can shoot the ball, right?
29:17Like, if you can shoot, then you can drive.
29:18And that shows that right there.
29:24So one more free throw incoming here for Hardaway.
29:27The Nuggets' 10th free throw attempt already.
29:30Just over a minute gone in this second quarter, but he's empty-handed on his trip.
29:35A.J. Mitchell, what a first quarter.
29:37Mitchell already off the bench with 10 points.
29:39That went off the mark for Dort.
29:41You see what I'm saying?
29:41He's going to have a steady die to open threes.
29:43They're willing to give that up.
29:44I mean, and I'm not saying you leave him open, because Dort's actually a capable three-point
29:48shooter, as he's proven.
29:49But you've got to give up something.
29:50That's it.
29:51That's a turnover.
29:52Valanchunas couldn't handle it.
29:53And now they just reversed.
29:54Not so fast, no.
29:56I love how Williams tried to sell that by running down the other end.
29:59A little vet move there.
30:00Let's see.
30:01It looks like it's off Valanchunas.
30:03And quick inbound from Denver to avoid a challenge.
30:09High screen from Valanchunas on Hardaway.
30:12Working on Isaiah Joe.
30:13Step away for two.
30:15And that's high-level offense right there, because that was good defense by Joe.
30:18He was able to take the push-off and stay with him.
30:23Good physical basketball right there.
30:25Joe Pump, stop on a dime, step back, three, bullseye!
30:30And that's OKC's like eighth guy.
30:34And he's just ripping that cross and drilling a 23-footer.
30:40Over 41% from three on the season.
30:43About 40 on his career.
30:44Watch this middie.
30:45There it is.
30:47Doesn't go down.
30:48Austin, how good are these guards at getting to the body and knocking these defenders back,
30:52but not overdoing it?
30:53They all have that feel for it.
30:56Joe thought about it.
30:57Now he'll drive.
30:59Float game for two.
31:00I love Isaiah Joe's game.
31:02He just comes in here and he hoops.
31:06He does.
31:07Doesn't shy any confidence, does he?
31:11OKC back up one.
31:13Valanchunas pounded by Williams.
31:16A little shimmy get off him.
31:18Seven to shoot now for Gordon.
31:20Had the big first quarter with 19 points.
31:22Cross, Dort, stays in front.
31:24Gordon lost the ball.
31:25But a foul is called on Lou Dort, who is frustrated with the whistle.
31:31He talking about his hands here right here.
31:33Oh yeah, he slapped it right across the face there.
31:36There's that between the legs, step back by Isaiah Joe.
31:39What a sequence for him.
31:41First a three, then you're playing off the closeout, showing the touch with the floater.
31:46Four straight years of 40% or better from three.
31:49What a piece for this Oklahoma City bench.
31:51Murray.
31:52That is strong to the hole.
31:54And that's the perfect word to use, Noah.
31:56Boy, these have all just been strong drives.
31:58I mean, what a physical game.
32:00I know it's not the playoffs, but it feels like it with the physicality.
32:03Mitchell's three.
32:04Cornette.
32:07Man, this dude is high level.
32:08This is a high level guard right here.
32:10Austin, I'm amazed at how many players and pieces OKC has to work with.
32:15When you look at who's out tonight, and they just did business as usual.
32:19Yeah, it is.
32:20They just replaced, don't they?
32:23Mitchell took a shot from Hardaway.
32:25Offensive foul.
32:26See right here, Murray with a strong drive, playing through contact,
32:30keeping his eye on the rim.
32:32And then right here, AJ just stepping back.
32:34Too much space.
32:35He's already got a rhythm, but it's tough when you're hitting layups,
32:37you're hitting mid-ranges, now you're hitting threes.
32:39He is a three-level scorer, Robbie.
32:41Big-time player.
32:42Just a miscommunication there for Denver's pick-and-roll defense.
32:46Mitchell again.
32:47Way off that time.
32:50Well, that wasn't a turnover.
32:53OKC has zero turnover so far in this game.
32:57Three for the Denver Nuggets.
32:59And now the Thunder will take the timeout.
33:0148-46.
33:03Body blows back and forth.
33:05Tonight's headlines are brought to you by Acura.
33:08Let's throw it back ten days ago right here in this building.
33:10The animosity started.
33:12SGA after the bump threw the ball right at Jokic.
33:15He gets teed up immediately.
33:17And then a little bit later, this was the play in which Anarchy broke loose.
33:21Lew Dort with a trip.
33:23Jokic didn't even have the ball or wasn't even near the play.
33:25And then Jalen Williams comes in.
33:27Jokic and Williams get tied up.
33:29The full arsenal on both sides grouped together on the court.
33:33It was a flagrant two assessed to Lew Dort.
33:36He was ejected from the game.
33:39Then an overtime victory for OKC in which Jalen Williams right there was massive down the stretch in that game
33:45and helping to guard Jokic, who had a triple-double.
33:48Another 30-point triple-double in the overtime defeat.
33:51And now here we are in the third of four meetings between these two teams.
33:54They'll do it again in April before the playoffs begin and then maybe a playoff series.
33:59Jamal Murray stays on the floor.
34:00Jokic stays on the bench.
34:02Six to shoot now for Murray.
34:03The spin and can't hit.
34:05Beautiful move.
34:05Great rebound, too.
34:06A high door.
34:07Austin, he's really gutted this out.
34:10Like, Jamal Murray questionable, but there was really never a doubt he was going to play.
34:13Might have been deflected up top.
34:15And Mitchell doesn't even act like it was, so it's going to be an air ball out of bounds.
34:19Back-to-back tough shots for him.
34:21First was good defense.
34:22That one, he had space.
34:23Just completely kind of shot it short.
34:25Again, this is his first game back, so he made it look a little bit too easy.
34:28That's right.
34:28He came out the gate just too good.
34:31That's just something that's getting that rhythm, that feel, getting his legs under him.
34:34He's got 13 off the bench already on 6 of 10.
34:37Tim Hardaway Jr.
34:38Yeah, Bruce Henn.
34:38Bruce has got to shoot that.
34:39Bruce Brown missed it.
34:41They're going to keep it here.
34:42Loose ball foul.
34:43Henrich Williams.
34:44He's saying it's Valanchunas pushed him.
34:46It's a domino effect, eh?
34:47It's the push-ception.
34:51Let's see.
34:53Is he right?
34:54Let's see.
34:55No, players lie.
34:58We are guilty.
35:00They do, don't they?
35:01Guys are very unaware of whether they're fouling or not.
35:04But there was no lying when you guys played, right?
35:06Well, me and Austin were some of the honest ones.
35:07Yeah, you guys were honest.
35:09They ain't out there.
35:10I definitely wasn't.
35:12Respect the honesty.
35:13It's not even really lying.
35:13It's just an obliviousness to what actually has happened.
35:16It's also, yeah.
35:17He's trying to compete and win.
35:18You're telling your truth is what you're saying.
35:20Exactly.
35:20It's no different than players baiting to get fouled.
35:22I mean, it's just part of the game and shit of trying to get stuff done for your team.
35:27Eight to shoot here.
35:29Brown gets it in for Gordon.
35:30Valanchunas with five on the clock.
35:32Murray comes circling around.
35:34Two to shoot.
35:34Murray's going to have to hoist.
35:36And it's well short.
35:37Shot clock violation.
35:39But really good defensive possession.
35:41It starts with Lou Dorn and the tone he sets being physical with Aaron Gordon.
35:45But then all five thunder on the same page, forcing a tough one for Jamal Murray.
35:51Seven and a half to play in this first half.
35:53Oklahoma City, 51% from the floor.
35:56Set up 19 from three.
35:57Denver, 55% from the forwards.
35:59It's five of nine from three-point territory.
36:02Mitchell got caught.
36:03Got the fourth and the bucket.
36:05Man, I mean, they fully are.
36:07The offense is going through him.
36:09I mean, it's his unit.
36:11But just an under control.
36:12You jump stop, you give yourself options.
36:15A little shot fake.
36:16Aaron Gordon trying to contest.
36:19Talk about the confidence to air ball twice and then come back the next place still looking to score.
36:24The trust.
36:26This dude's got 15 points in 12 minutes off the bench in his first game back in six weeks.
36:31Yeah.
36:33He's been impressive.
36:35As he has been all season, a huge piece, critical piece.
36:38Now coming off that injury, missing 20 games.
36:42And looking like the player he's been all year, one of the most improved players in the NBA.
36:47Floater short for Murray.
36:49See, if I was Jamal, I would have tried to sell that.
36:51They just gave the same call to AJ.
36:54A little contact down there.
36:55Pulled the chair there.
36:57Mitchell pump, drive, float.
36:59Over the top comes up short.
37:04We're not even midway through this second quarter.
37:07It feels like it's been an entire game of physicality.
37:11Definitely from a physical point, right?
37:13Yeah, scoring that thing went up near the rim.
37:17Aaron Wiggins on the floor along with Isaiah Joe.
37:20A couple of snipers on the outside along with Kenridge Williams.
37:23The grit to get to the bucket.
37:25No.
37:25Tipped around.
37:26Valanchunis a five on four here if Denver hurries.
37:29Brown, Hardaway, quick trigger, comes up short.
37:34Whole team's cooling down just a tad in this second quarter.
37:38A little winded, maybe.
37:39You can see the air kind of puffing and puffing right now.
37:42It's been a track meet the past couple of minutes.
37:45Especially with him.
38:11Good job by Dork, though, forcing the action and putting the ref in the way.
38:15And Austin also seeing who's closing out to him.
38:18It's Jonas Valanchunis, right?
38:20Like, you know, when that happens, these OKC guards are going to be aggressive.
38:24You know what they say about that ball.
38:25Alexander's coming back on the floor.
38:27He's been excellent so far.
38:28Well, just doing what he does, right?
38:29Living in the midrange, getting to the rim, playing in transition.
38:33Uber efficient as always.
38:34But it's never a surprise.
38:36That was a ridiculous take in the open floor.
38:39He's had quite the ball game and well on his way to 20 again.
38:43Timeout on the floor.
38:44SGA returns when we return.
38:46He's got 11.
38:47So the upcoming national TV schedule tomorrow on NBC and Peacock.
38:50Celtics at Spurs.
38:51Kicks off coast-to-coast Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern,
38:54followed by the Wolves and the Lakers in L.A. at 11 p.m.
38:57And ESPN Wednesday, Cavs at Magic, Rockets at Nuggets.
39:01For more on these games, go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app.
39:05You can also catch the second of our Peacock NBA Monday doubleheader
39:09with the Clippers and the Knicks out in L.A. on Peacock tonight.
39:14Just past the midway point of the second quarter.
39:17Jokic and SGA back out there for their respective teams.
39:20Deep three.
39:21It's Murray.
39:21Too strong.
39:22And the rebound goes to Jalen Williams.
39:26He's got no turnovers in this first half for OKC.
39:29Last time they went a full half without turning the ball over.
39:33March 8, 2014, against Sacramento.
39:36SGA makes it home.
39:37He's just got that thing on such a strength.
39:40You know, whether he wants to put it between his legs
39:43or use his size and spin off to go glass,
39:45he is so efficient what he wants to do.
39:48Jokic can't hit on the three.
39:50The angle at which he chose to play the glass right there was impressive, too.
39:53He was almost baseline.
39:55I mean, his touch on that middie is just...
40:00Jalen Williams catches in.
40:03What a pass by Shane Gilgis-Alexander.
40:05He's got to the floor and make the play for somebody else.
40:08He's got it locked in tonight, Robbie, doesn't he?
40:11Yeah, he really does.
40:13Ten assists now for OKC.
40:15Five of them coming from the MVP.
40:18Ten to shoot for Murray off the screen.
40:21He's got Wiggins on his hip for another tough bucket.
40:24Talk about a tough basket.
40:26Two Canadians going at it right here.
40:28This is the backcourt for the Olympics, maybe.
40:30Boy, he had two mid-range assassins in Washington, these guys.
40:34Now it's this guy's turn.
40:36He almost went up with that just to try something.
40:39Half the shot clock gone for SGA against Christian Brown.
40:42Step away.
40:43Williams pump.
40:45Jones bit.
40:46Williams floated it up short.
40:47All the contact was coming.
40:50Great job by Jones running the ball.
40:53You're right, Austin.
40:54He was getting deep into that angle.
40:57That was a tough bank shot.
40:59I'm so sad.
41:00That's easy.
41:02Christian Brown never fully got set.
41:06And you know when you're screening someone like Dort, Robbie, you've got to be stationed.
41:10Otherwise, he's going to have all the tricks in the book all the great defenders do.
41:14Well, I love that Christian Brown was looking at the ref like he just could not fathom.
41:19He just couldn't believe they called that.
41:22To Austin's point, it feels like Dort has at least one of those every game.
41:25But Brown gets it right back.
41:26First turnover of this first half for OKC.
41:29Got the bump.
41:30And he'll get two free throws.
41:31Yes, he did.
41:32He went and got that back, didn't he?
41:34That's what you do.
41:35You don't hold your head.
41:36You don't get down on yourself.
41:37Go make a play.
41:38That's exactly what he did.
41:39Read it the defense.
41:40Played it out fouling.
41:42Now he can get his team some points at the free throw line.
41:44Get himself a little rhythm, too.
41:45But you know why that happened?
41:47Because Noah said the stat about no turn.
41:50You're welcome.
41:51And it immediately happened.
41:52About three minutes in.
41:53So you're telling me that you want me to apologize to everybody in Oklahoma City?
41:57You might need to, yeah.
41:59Christian Brown.
42:00And the free throw struggle is starting to mount now for Denver.
42:04Your favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear is back.
42:07And he's about to have a wicked weird senior year.
42:09Streaming the new season of Ted, now only on Peacock.
42:13The guy they've invested as heavily in.
42:16Got a huge one.
42:16Oh.
42:17Well, yeah, that too.
42:19If I have one more promo about Ted, I swear.
42:21But no, Christian Brown, he's got a big contract.
42:24He's highly regarded on both sides of the floor.
42:27You know, they rely on him, especially with Peyton Watson out right now, just to make defensive plays.
42:34It's very important for him to see the ball go through the basket because he gets a lot of open
42:37three looks.
42:39Foul on the other end.
42:40OKC trailed by as many as 13 points in the first quarter.
42:44They have flipped this thing around, led by 10 just a few moments ago.
42:48Looking to extend it back to double digits here.
42:50McCain back on the floor.
42:52Cam Johnson steps up defensively.
42:54Haven't heard a lot of Cam Johnson so far tonight.
42:57Now he's switched out to SGA.
42:58The 19-8 second quarter starting for OKC.
43:02McCain with five to shoot.
43:03Gets into the paint.
43:04Puts one up and in.
43:06Austin, how about the wall that Denver was building against SGA right there?
43:10So he just gives it up, and you've got Jared McCain coming right back at you for the mid-range.
43:16Two-man game that has been so popular for a decade.
43:19Murray and Jokic bounce it.
43:22Spencer Jones will try.
43:23No.
43:24Jokic got a hand on it, but SGA sweeps it.
43:27What a rebound.
43:27That six-on-one wingspan coming into play there.
43:30Another spin and an easy does.
43:32Timeout Denver.
43:36That's a bad boy.
43:39Well, he continuously makes the Nuggets play in transition.
43:43This time it's with the spin.
43:45Take your time.
43:46Play at your own pace.
43:48Nobody's in a hurry.
43:49It's just SGA ball.
43:50Tonight on Peacock.
43:51Check out Peacock's performance view.
43:53A whole new way to watch with real-time stats, live shot data, and player tracking.
43:57Dive deeper into the action of Peacock.
44:01OKC in front of this second quarter.
44:03They're 23-8 to open up a 12-point cushion.
44:07They've shot 9 of 16 in the second.
44:09Denver just 4 of 15 and 0 of 6 from 3 after a blistering opening quarter offensively.
44:14We kind of touched on it.
44:16This happened last game versus New York, Noah.
44:18You know, they had a big first quarter.
44:21Previous three quarters just gave up too much points without offense.
44:26Seeing it here in the second.
44:27Offensive rebound, Spencer Jones, leads to a hardaway three.
44:31Can't give him space.
44:33He's been big tonight on offense when they needed it.
44:35Obviously, Aaron Gordon was a big push there in the first quarter.
44:39He's been a big help.
44:40Well, this is obvious, but for OKC with who's out, even when Isaiah Hardenstein plays,
44:45when he's not on the floor, rebounding always a concern.
44:48And certainly some way that Denver can get their way back in this game.
44:52Cam Johnson is fouled.
44:54Great drive by Cam Johnson.
44:56Using all the attention that Nikola was garnering down low to his advantage.
44:59It's an open lane for him, and he's been quiet all night.
45:02You touched on that as well, Noah.
45:03Just trying to get himself involved in this game.
45:05Good drive, and you're picking up a foul on the MVP.
45:08Not bad.
45:11Cam Johnson is probably the most interesting inflection point,
45:15or at least one of them, for this Denver team.
45:17He came in after being traded from Brooklyn for Michael Porter Jr.
45:21and a first-round pick.
45:23Missed 23 straight games with a knee injury.
45:25Since his return, he's only shooting 33% from three.
45:29He also missed two games before the game against New York with an ankle issue.
45:34But it feels like they acquired this guy for a reason,
45:37an elite connector on the offensive end, his length on the defensive end.
45:42We've seen he can be an impact player on a team that went to the finals in Phoenix.
45:46Absolutely, and I do think his time is going to come,
45:49especially here in the playoffs, and as the season winds down,
45:52he hasn't had enough time to get a rhythm yet, but that will come.
45:55McCain on the drive, nearly lost it.
45:57Now it's Williams on the outside.
45:59Can't hit that time.
46:01Jokic collects his fifth rebound to go with just seven points, four assists.
46:05Can this be a fifth?
46:06Yes, it can.
46:07Another three.
46:08It's Tim Hardaway Jr.
46:10Man, oh man.
46:11He caught that.
46:12He was ready to shoot before he even looked at the basket.
46:15But he's an excellent three-point shooter in transition.
46:18And Oklahoma City just not matching up and getting to him early enough.
46:21Willie.
46:22Oh!
46:22Oh my God.
46:23He had that English.
46:24Man.
46:26I had never seen him do that in my life.
46:28That was insane.
46:29That would have been awesome.
46:30What the?
46:31Lob it inside.
46:32Gordon with position.
46:33A lot of contact, and he nearly spun it through, but he'll get it too.
46:36I need a replay of that.
46:37I need a replay of that.
46:38Well, first, it's Hardaway.
46:40I'm fine.
46:44Wow.
46:45Just catch and shoot, knock down shooter, way to run the floor.
46:47You know when Nicola's got the ball, you got to get your head up.
46:49And then my man right here.
46:52That would have been sick right there.
46:54That was like MJ against the Mets.
46:56That was.
46:56He nearly touched the ground.
46:57I didn't know he could do that.
46:59I didn't even know he could try something like that.
47:00I'm not sure he knew he could do it.
47:02He's not in his face.
47:03That was, he went for that.
47:05He hit a couple threes tonight.
47:06He's feeling good.
47:07Okay, Jalen Williams.
47:08He's got 12 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes.
47:11Meanwhile, Gordon, after just three points against the Knicks, is already up to 21 in this first half.
47:18But why is it as soon as he comes back in the game, Austin, they go high-low right away.
47:23They understand where their mismatch is with Aaron Gordon on the floor.
47:26And it's generated a 10-0 Denver run.
47:30And Jerry McCain could have easily shot that one.
47:32Good closeout.
47:33Oh, no.
47:33That's a good closeout.
47:35Instead, it's going to be a foul on Cam Johnson.
47:38There's a delay of the game right here.
47:39Here we go.
47:43Tim Hardaway Jr. arguing, it's a dead ball, guys.
47:45What is it delaying?
47:50Officials confer, and it will, in fact, be.
47:53I think they warned.
47:55Yeah.
47:56A little warning.
47:57Both.
47:58Did Oklahoma City get a warning as well?
48:00Yeah, because Timmy fought for that.
48:02He's like, hey, he shot it after the whistle.
48:03Good point.
48:05Seems like he blocked it away.
48:06Both teams in the bonus.
48:07Final 118 here.
48:09So it'll be Aaron Wiggins at the free-throw line.
48:10Good vet.
48:13Talk there from Tim Hardaway Jr. having his man's back.
48:19So the 10th and 11th attempts at the line for Oklahoma City.
48:24Wednesday, everyone's favorite night of drama is back.
48:27New seasons of Chicago Med, Fire, NPD.
48:31Ole Miss, New Chicago Wednesday.
48:32This Wednesday on NBC and Peacock.
48:37Final 118 in this second quarter.
48:39After the first quarter, Denver led 40-37.
48:43So a lower scoring affair in the second 12 minutes after OKC took a 12-point lead.
48:48Denver can get it back to within one or tie the game here.
48:54Jokic handed Johnson.
48:57Oh, they just left him.
48:58Couldn't make him pay.
48:59He came off not looking to score.
49:01That's where Cam's got to find himself, the confidence in this system.
49:06Hasn't happened yet.
49:07I do believe it will happen because he's just too good of a player.
49:10The bump for SGA.
49:11Another bucket.
49:12But the balance to be able to do that.
49:15And lean in and knock your defender back.
49:17That is Ph.D. level stuff there from SGA.
49:2117 in the first half from the MVP.
49:23Now the back down, the spin.
49:24Jokic, no, but a foul.
49:26It's going to be Jalen Lilliams picking up his first.
49:34He's dribble is dead, but the way he knocks Christian Brown back and can get back to balance so easily.
49:40He just makes it look so effortless.
49:43He even said a little too small there.
49:44Very subtly, didn't he?
49:45He sure did.
49:46And I don't know about this one.
49:47I'm glad they called it because it keeps the game close, but I don't know if that was a foul
49:52there.
49:52Jalen Lilliams had his hands down.
49:55Let those ones go.
49:56Save those for the fourth quarter.
49:58Keep these guys on the floor.
50:00Jokic now with 8.7 rebounds, 5 assists in 17 minutes.
50:04We've got one more at the line, the final line in the matchup 10 days ago was 23, 17, and
50:1414.
50:14Jamal Murray at 39.
50:16But Murray, who's a question mark, up to 10 in 18 minutes already tonight.
50:21Three-point game, two for one taken, and Wiggins in and out.
50:27So now a 6-5, 6-second difference shot clock in Gamecock.
50:31But Denver will work for a good one.
50:37Johnson pushed off his mark, trying to get Jokic involved with Gordon.
50:41Screen from Jokic.
50:43Gordon stops, hops, can't hit.
50:45And SGA with the board.
50:47Really good contest there by SGA.
50:50Four seconds left in this first half.
50:52It's Giltis Alexander on the kick.
50:54The three is good!
50:58Isaiah Joe is lethal!
51:07And we've talked so much about the scoring of Shea Gilgis-Alexander, but a willing passer as well.
51:15Look at the collapse there.
51:16I mean, you've got multiple Denver defenders converging on his dribble.
51:21And that's just as simple as making the right play and setting the table for one of the better shooters
51:27on OKC's team.
51:31Thunder outscore the Nuggets by nine in the second quarter.
51:35It's 66-60 after two.
51:38As we go back to the studio with Ahmed.
51:41All right, thank you, Noah.
51:42Coming up on American Express at the half, Brian Scalabrini, Chris Brosh.
51:45Scal, you were very critical of Denver's defense in the pregame show.
51:48It was awful.
51:49What defense?
51:49What are they doing?
51:51Isaiah Joe can shoot.
51:52I don't care about the 20-point.
51:54Get out to the corner shooter.
51:55They got things to say at the half.
52:01Welcome to American Express.
52:03At the half.
52:06SGA came into the game one game short of tying Wilt's mark for consecutive 20-point games at 125.
52:13He's got 17 at the break.
52:15That's a lock.
52:16It's a six-point game for OKC.
52:19So glad you're with us.
52:19Ahmed, Fareed, Brian Scalabrini, Chris Brosh.
52:22It's all they have.
52:23No bigs for OKC.
52:25You knew it was going to be the SGA show.
52:27Chris, he has taken over despite that.
52:29They're doing a great job of spreading Denver out.
52:32But I want to say Denver's got to play better defense.
52:35I know we were joking, but they're giving up wide-open threes.
52:39You've got to give credit to SGA for penetrating and kicking and trusting his teammates.
52:44You're more disappointed with Denver.
52:45Denver, you've got to peel back right here a switch.
52:48No effort to get out to three-point shooters.
52:52No effort getting back.
52:53Look, they've got two guys above the three-point line, way above, 30 feet from the basket.
53:00You want to see more urgency from Denver, right?
53:03We were saying this is a must-win.
53:04Must-win for them.
53:06They forced one turnover.
53:08You know you're not guarding.
53:09Some teams can make shots, but you're not playing defense if you're forcing one turnover.
53:14Oklahoma City doing a great job of doing exactly what you just said.
53:17Listening to the game plan, spreading the court out, getting the bigs down the floor,
53:21and teeing up wide-open threes.
53:23Scott, what did you just say there?
53:24Must-win?
53:24Don't hold back.
53:25What do you think about Denver?
53:26Why?
53:27Well, you got your guys out.
53:28Here's another thing, right?
53:29Chet's out.
53:30Denver's a horrible rebounding team when Chet and Hardenstein are out.
53:36When Hardenstein's out, they're a horrible rebounding team.
53:39OKC is, yeah.
53:40Yeah, OKC is.
53:41Tonight, Denver has three offensive rebounds.
53:44That's not getting it done.
53:45That's not going to—you've got to pound the glass, and you've got to force turnovers.
53:49And right now, they're just not making—they're not making OKC make any adjustments.
53:53And I would like to see Jokic get down low a little more.
53:56I think he's floating outside a little bit too much.
53:59With the bigs out, I would expect Jokic to do damage down low underneath the rim.
54:04I think he's too worried about playing point guard and getting his teammates involved.
54:08He needs to get himself involved.
54:10Yeah, Aaron Gordon, we talked about him in the pregame show coming to this one,
54:13knew he would be key.
54:14He was huge in the first few minutes of the first quarter.
54:16What do you do when you have a side's advantage?
54:19You go inside.
54:20And Gordon just dominated at the beginning of this game.
54:23You're going to see some of the field goals, the threes.
54:26But he was inside getting to the free-draw line.
54:28He was working the dunker spot.
54:30Gordon was awesome to start this game.
54:32And they went away from him, and they went away from points in the paint.
54:36So tonight's game you can trust, presented by American Express.
54:38Here it is, Aaron Gordon.
54:3919 points, the first seven minutes play in the first quarter.
54:42He came out.
54:42He only got a couple more shots after that.
54:45He ended the half with eight shots, and so you see six of them in the first half.
54:49And so, Chris Bosh, is it more Aaron Gordon, or did OKC figure something out?
54:52I think they figured it out, but Denver's got to get back to playing well with everyone involved.
54:59I think a few times you saw the ball get stagnant, one pass, one shot, and then OKC is off
55:06to the races.
55:06They need to run their offense, but most importantly, they need to get their bigs down low and punish them
55:12down low.
55:13Yeah, Valanchunas, right, he's out there, he's getting cooked defensively, which is understandable.
55:17But also, they don't go to him on the inside.
55:19What's the point of having him out there if they're not going to go inside and have him work?
55:22Especially if Chet Holmgren's out.
55:24No question.
55:24What did you think of Jamal in the first half, coming off that injury?
55:27Yeah, just OK.
55:28You know, I think that it felt like he was trying to get something involved, maybe at times doing a
55:32little bit too much.
55:33When he went out of the game and Jokic went to point, everyone started touching the ball.
55:37I think Murray will adjust, but I didn't love his first half performance.
55:40Jokic can do that, though, the point center.
55:42Maybe the only one in the NBA right now.
55:43So here is the halftime leaders for our Peacock scorecard.
55:47Check out your score on the Peacock TV mobile app.
55:50Who's winning right now, Scal?
55:52Later Yard 50, Silly Motor 60, and Walking Creek 57.
55:57Those are my homies.
55:58Boggy Gift 65 is surprising.
56:00I like how close you had to get the reins.
56:02Oh, man, I got to get the reins.
