00:00U.S. President Donald Trump assured Republican lawmakers that the war in Iran will end very soon,
00:07boasting that Washington is achieving tremendous success in what he described as an excursion into the Middle East.
00:13We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some evil.
00:19And I think you'll see it's going to be a short-term excursion.
00:22How good is our military, right?
00:26Amazing.
00:29How good. Short-term. Short-term.
00:36Trump did not indicate how soon the fighting might stop,
00:39but did stress that the war will only end when all of the U.S.'s objectives are met.
00:45In a separate event later on Monday, he again defended the war in Iran as necessary,
00:50claiming without providing evidence that Tehran were plotting to take over the Middle East.
00:55They were going to take over the Middle East. They were looking to take over the Middle East.
01:00Now, had Operation Midnight Hammer not taken place, that was definite.
01:07Because they would have had a nuclear weapon within a matter of weeks.
01:11But that took place. That was a setback.
01:13But look at the number of missiles they were able to buy and make over the last six months.
01:19And those missiles were aimed at various countries.
01:23And when you look at a thousand, over a thousand missiles shot at, like, UAE,
01:28they were looking to take over the Middle East. We got there first.
01:31The war continues to rage in Tehran, with many describing Monday's attacks as one of the heaviest air raids
01:38since the war broke out late in February.
01:41Israel is also continuing to strike what it says are Iran-backed Hezbollah targets
01:45across several Lebanese cities on a daily basis.
01:49Tehran is continuing to fire retaliatory barrages at Israel,
01:53where at least one person was killed in a strike on Monday.
01:56Iranian attacks are also targeting neighboring Gulf states hosting U.S. bases.
02:02Attacks there are aimed at U.S. positions,
02:05but have also struck civilian and energy infrastructure.
02:09The death toll, according to latest figures,
02:12has surged past 1,230 in Iran,
02:16397 in Lebanon,
02:1811 in Israel,
02:19and 7 U.S. service members.
