00:02To be able to use this app, is necessary to update.
00:06Here we click on to update.
00:08Marita Ziermann likes to come to this digital help session
00:12in one of Berlin's public libraries.
00:14Here she feels she can ask anything about her smartphone and laptop.
00:19Also to Hause, when man is and will das alleine machen,
00:23das geht nicht.
00:24Wenn man das gezeigt bekommt
00:26und dann noch so gut erklärt bekommt,
00:29ist das sehr leicht gegen das, was wir zu Hause versucht haben.
00:34Maritas kids, she says, are too busy to explain her smartphone to her.
00:38So she puts up with the one-hour journey to the consultation.
00:42Participating in the digital world is important to her.
00:46Was man dann kann, ist schön.
00:48Es ist wirklich eine Bereicherung.
00:51The consultations are free of charge
00:53and offered in 25 public libraries in Berlin.
00:57Bibliotheken sind Orte des Wissens.
00:59Und wenn nicht eine Bibliothek,
01:00wer könnte es dann besser anbieten?
01:02According to a study, Internet usage among seniors is on the rise.
01:07More than 87% of people over the age of 60 use the Internet.
01:12However, only half of them have adequate digital skills.
01:16Viele trauen sich nicht, das Gerät in die Hand zu nehmen,
01:19weil sie denken, ich lösche das Internet.
01:23Deswegen ist das auch eine häufige Frage, was ist das Internet?
01:28Marita feels much more confident now,
01:30thanks to the regular help sessions.
01:33She says she's no longer a digital beginner.
