00:00Ready for Charlie and Diane was reacting in Garfield vs. Furiosa and Mad Max Fury Saga.
00:30You've seen these upcoming films. All we focus on in Garfield here is that they are feeling the lead coming
00:37out this weekend.
00:39What's your take on Chris Pratt's version of Garfield?
00:44Well, I grew up with Garfield and Fred's back in the day, the animated show.
00:50So having Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy playing Garfield threw me off.
00:56As for his voice, love Chris Pratt, I don't know if he's Garfield to me.
01:00As for the movie in general, it's harmless entertainment.
01:05I took all three of my kids, all three of them had a lot of fun with it.
01:08In a lot of ways, that's the most important thing I can say about the film.
01:13But, as for me, it felt way too familiar.
01:17And all the unique Garfieldisms kind of got lost in everything else kind of going on in the plot.
01:23I don't know if Garfield started as a comic strip.
01:26What are you doing?
01:27I'm going to ask you this though, Chuck, a little bit.
01:29So Garfield, to a new generation, do they need to know that he's a cat that's lazy that eats lasagna?
01:37Or do you just come in with us expecting something competitive?
01:41When you go into this one, and you have a little bit of cat that likes lasagna.
01:47Especially at the beginning, you get some of that classic Garfield poetry.
01:51But it starts a comic strip.
01:53There's four panels, a punchline, he's lazy, he eats lasagna.
01:57And the movie you're watching here is about a heist.
02:00There's a train rescue sequence that's inspired by Mission Impossible.
02:05You're dealing with Garfield's daddy and abandoned.
02:08And so, it just feels like all these other movies.
02:12It's fine.
02:13If you take your family this weekend, you'll have a good time.
02:17You're not going to be offended or anything like that.
02:20But, if you're someone that wants some unique Garfield stuff,
02:24although the lasagna, the laziness, forget about it,
02:28because you're in the middle of a heist trying to steal a truck real quickly.
02:31You know what I'm saying?
02:33Chris Pratt.
02:34So, he's the voice of the logo guy.
02:36We've got him as Super Mario.
02:38Now he's in Garfield.
02:39Does this end his push for other points, animated characters?
02:43Or is this going to push him to do the next one I'm thinking of?
02:47Yeah.
02:49We'll see what happens at the box office.
02:51But you think, last year he did Super Mario.
02:53That's not an obvious bit.
02:55Chris Pratt, Italian lover.
02:57And it made over a million dollars.
02:59So, Garfield's a hit, which I'm sure he'll do fine at the box office if you saw the numbers.
03:04Why would he stop?
03:06And why would they stop casting?
03:08I, personally, wouldn't keep casting Chris Pratt on every voice character.
03:13Out there.
03:14I don't need all the characters from my childhood being voiced and being animated.
03:18Like Chris Pratt.
03:19I'd rather see him do other things.
03:21But, if you're making money, why would you stop?
03:25It's the movie business.
03:26It makes money.
03:28You keep doing it.
03:28Sure.
03:29There's a reason I have Chris Pratt voicing a line of the Thundercats Cartier.
03:33I'm just going to push it and make it happen.
03:35But, Sean, so we're going to read back on our Fox Cartier.
03:38I think we're going to talk about Furiosa.
03:41And maybe, maybe that could be perfect this weekend.
03:45You ready to come back for that?
03:47Absolutely.
03:47Let's do it.
03:48Alright.
03:48We'll see you then.
03:49Thanks for showing up.
03:50And by the way, my name's Sean Channel on YouTube.
03:52Sean Channel talks about it.
03:54Sean Channel is the most popular movie theater and it's all I've got in.
04:01We've got to block out.
04:01We watch all these movies for us so we can decide when or not we should go.
04:06That's Mr. Sean Channel from Sean's Family Talks about it on YouTube.
04:09Sean, good morning.
04:10Good morning.
04:11Glad to be here to talk about a lot of movies today.
04:14And it's the Lot of Movies.
04:15It's a dark film.
04:16And it comes out and it's got Chris Pratt and Samuel Jackson.
04:20You have Avengers, now they've got the Curiosa Mad Max saga, it's got Chris Hemsworth, and how do you enjoy
04:28it?
04:28He's four big upcoming sub-circuit. It's just the Avengers all around us.
04:34How is this movie, Curiosa, you see it? What's your thoughts?
04:38Oh, I really like this movie. So I've been watching the Mad Max movies ever since the early 90s when
04:44they were on cable TV,
04:45watching it after my parents went to bed, and George Miller, who directed this film, is now like 80 years
04:52old,
04:52and he's still directing these crazy car carnage movies, and he keeps making each of them different.
04:58The last one he did, Mad Max, Fury Road, is basically a two-hour chase movie.
05:03It was designed to be that, and this is designed to be more of a sprawling epic,
05:08where it covers over 10 years of the Furiosa characters' life,
05:16and with that, Bonnie and Taylor Joy doesn't show up in the movie until about an hour into the film,
05:21because it's like, oh, it'll be out this entire world of a wasteland,
05:25all these different factions, and rescue things happening.
05:29So there's so much that kind of goes on in this film,
05:32but it's aesthetically very similar in Fury Road.
05:35You do have the crazy car chases, but it also has something new to deliver at the same time,
05:41and all the type of story that it tells.
05:42So let me ask you this then, right, so the first four, you have Mel Gibson,
05:47and then you get Tom Hardy.
05:49Tom Hardy.
05:50Now, this one is all about Bonnie Taylor, Joy's character.
05:53Is this a girl boss movie?
05:55Because I've seen this, I'm like, people are worried about that.
05:58Well, I mean, when I think of girl boss, I think about the movies where they feel like
06:03they have to knock the guy down to block the girl up,
06:07and that's not really what this movie does.
06:10There's a character in it that she partners up with that outsmarts her,
06:15and that outdoes her, and that betrays her.
06:17Like, there's a character in it that is designed to be that partner for her.
06:21So it doesn't do anything like knock dudes down,
06:24to prop women up.
06:25So it's not that kind of brand of girl boss.
06:27Yes, you're real, so an awesome character that beats dudes up,
06:30shoots guns, spanks on the bottom of trucks.
06:32Yeah, but that's just called a cool character.
06:34That's a cool name.
06:35Yeah, you really can't do that.
06:37It's like, throw me out in the bottom of a truck, I'm going to get run over.
06:40So that's just a fun, escapist movie character.
06:43But it doesn't do it in that way where it feels like the movie has this weird
06:47preachy agenda or anything like that.
06:50It's a lot of carnage.
06:52There's cool dude characters.
06:54I mean, Chris Hemsworth is this wild, lamboyant villain
06:58that's just chilling on every scene that he's in.
07:01And so I had a really good time with that.
07:04It is fun.
07:05It's a longer film.
07:06It's not much urgent for pacing as like Fury Road.
07:10I told you what I thought of.
07:11Fury Road or Fury Oslo.
07:13Can it be on top?
07:15I mean, I think they complement each other really well.
07:17But Fury Road is just so insanely chaotic.
07:21And so, like, there's so much energy to it.
07:24There's something about that that I think is special.
07:27Whereas the second time you do something kind of like that,
07:30it doesn't have that freshness and newness.
07:34But I think it doesn't try to under me.
07:36That's what it tries to do.
07:38It's my own thing for telling this bigger story.
07:40So I'm going to take your routine.
07:43I'm going to see this movie this morning.
07:45I lie.
07:46I lie.
07:46Everybody, you can listen to Sharon, Sharon,
07:48talk stuff on YouTube.
07:50Of course, behind us on the website of Vegas4W.com.
07:52Thanks for coming over every morning.
07:56All right.
07:56Thanks for having me.
07:58Okay.
07:59That was the end of Garfield and Fury Oslo.
08:03All right.
08:04Thank you so, so much, Charlie and Diane.
