00:00From iconic gunslingers going down with one last cutting line of dialogue,
00:04to a beloved but still very much helpless character's fate being sealed in front of
00:08their very eyes, this bunch of Star Wars faces all knew their stint among Jedi and Sith was over,
00:14but went out with an almighty bang all the same. Gareth here from Wackle to Star Wars and here
00:18are the 10 Greatest I'm Dead and I Know It Moments from Star Wars.
00:2310. Han Solo Gives His Son The Strength To Do It, The Force Awakens
00:27While the actual visual of the iconic smuggler turned general plummeting to his death on the
00:32back of sharing one last touching moment with his boy Ben, as the two reconnected on Starkiller
00:37base was certainly shocking to behold. The second Han Solo stepped out onto that dizzying walkway,
00:42fans were already bracing themselves for the seemingly inevitable. So too was Solo as it
00:47goes, with the quick-witted commander of the Millennium Falcon having the look of a man on
00:51borrowed time throughout his desperate conversation with his fallen son. Even when a clearly conflicted
00:56Kylo Ren seems to hint at leaving his dark days behind. Solo's face, as the grandson of Darth
01:01Vader offers his lightsaber to his pops before the room ominously fades into darkness, tells
01:06the story of a father who knew a tragic and definitive conclusion was likely right around
01:11the corner. But instead of struggling against his son, Solo accepted his boy's wishes and
01:16left his life with one solitary stroke of his cheek.
01:19Oh, it's just so sad.
01:22Number 9. Ben Kenobi Knows His Time Has Come
01:24A New Hope
01:25Coming during the ragtag bunch of heroes' attempts to rescue a captive princess Leia,
01:30a rematch for the ages unfolds between one-time master and apprentice as Darth Vader and
01:35Obi-Wan Kenobi duke it out for old time's sake. Yet despite very much holding his own against the
01:40all-powerful fallen Jedi, more than he did during that first running of it back in episode 3 of
01:45Disney plus his Obi-Wan Kenobi at least, the wise old space wizard opts for a then-unexpected
01:50route upon witnessing Vader's son enter the hangar beside him. With a knowing smirk as he senses what
01:55he must do, the one-time Clone War general brings his lightsaber towards him and offers the former
02:00Anakin Skywalker an open invite to strike him down. Sure enough, as predicted, Kenobi would
02:06subsequently become more powerful than Vader can possibly imagine and aid young Luke in his path
02:11to becoming a Jedi Master in his own right. Few Jedi have ever gone down in such a calm and
02:16badass a manner as this icon of the Force did when sacrificing himself to save Luke and the gang.
02:228. A Return To Jabba's Palace Means Only One Thing For Bib Fortuna
02:27The Mandalorian
02:28The live-action return of Boba Fett was one that lifted the hearts of just about everyone taking
02:33in the fresh new entries in Disney's now-burgeoning TV corner of the galaxy. However, there was one
02:38particularly familiar Star Wars face who wasn't as excited to see the legendary bounty hunter as the
02:43rest of this giddy ol' planet. Taking place during the Mandalorian Season 2 finale post-credit scene,
02:49the son of Jango decides to return to a well-known locale on Tatooine in the wake of assisting Din
02:53Djarin
02:54and his Mandalorian chums. Rocking up very much to the unfortunate surprise of the most famous
02:59Twi'lek in the galaxy, that is Bib Fortuna, Jabba the Hutt's one-time Major Domo realised very quickly
03:05that his time on the throne was about to come to an abrupt end. Squirming and attempting to pacify
03:10the formidable Beskar-sporting badass, Fortuna's transparent bid to embrace and reconcile with the
03:16assumed dead force did little to convince Boba to spare his life. In the end, Fortuna knew what was
03:21heading his way, but desperate Twi'leks do desperate things, and his snivelling chuckles were soon
03:26extinguished by the next Daimyo. 7. Anakin Tells Padme He's Had Visions Of Her Death
03:32Revenge Of The Sith While it was no secret that Luke and Leia's mother,
03:36Padme Amidala's chances of making it out of Revenge Of The Sith Alive were pretty much non-existent,
03:41the character herself was likely still somewhat content coming into that third entry, on the
03:45back of finally marrying her beloved and even creating the next generation of Skywalkers in
03:49the process. But celebrations were soon cut short, on the back of Anakin's ominous revelation that
03:55his force-sensitive brain had been at it again in his dreams. This time, instead of his now-late
03:59mother being at the centre of his unsettling visions, it was Padme. Ever the optimist, the
04:04former Queen of Naboo tried to gloss over her husband's reveal of her eventually dying in
04:09childbirth. But the senator had to feel even just a tad uneasy at the news of Skywalker's
04:14fateful latest vision, with Amidala witnessing the fatal events that unfolded upon Anakin's prior
04:18visions of his mother, and no doubt sensing there may have been even a flicker of truth in this
04:23terminal declaration. In the end, Padme succumbs to a broken heart in the wake of her children's
04:28birth, but not before declaring that they're still good in her fallen hubby.
04:336. Darth Maul's Final Words to Kenobi, Rebels
04:36As the animated Clone Wars and Rebels shows would later shine a light on, Maul wasn't actually
04:42entirely cut down during that fateful duel of the fates on Naboo, and he would eventually come back
04:46to haunt arch-nemesis Kenobi on more than a few occasions down the road. Yet the tortured and rage-filled
04:52soul still always appeared destined to bite the dust before the events of the original trilogy
04:56unfolded, and it felt somewhat poetic to have his long-time rival deal the fatal blow during an
05:01episode of the aforementioned Rebels series. Instead of a wide-eyed acknowledgement of his
05:06unfortunate conclusion this time around though, Maul was afforded a few moments to pick the mind of his
05:11old enemy as he lay dwindling in Kenobi's arms. Maul inquires whether the person Kenobi is protecting on
05:17Tatooine is the chosen one, before stating that Luke will avenge them both and then giving up his fight upon
05:22realising some hope still remains in the galaxy.
05:265. Fives Tells Rex He Only Ever Wanted To Do His Duty
05:30The Clone Wars After becoming privy to the eventually disastrous Order 66 plot that would eventually
05:36massacre much of the Jedi Order, CT-5555, better known as, well, Fives, found himself in an increasingly
05:43perilous situation, as he attempted to evade Palpatine's forces and inform Anakin Skywalker
05:47and Captain Rex about the incoming plan. With both Skywalker and Rex understandably
05:52sceptical about Fives' revelation, the desperate clone knew there was little hope in his survival
05:57on Coruscant, as Commander Fox and his fellow troops closed in on him. Yet despite Fox's calls of
06:02don't do it, soldier, as Fives impulsively reached for a blaster to defend himself with,
06:07ugh, it was too late.
06:08One accurate blast later, Fives' final breaths foreshadowed the dark fate that was on the horizon
06:13for both the Jedi and clones, claiming the incoming plot was bigger than any of them,
06:17and that he only ever wanted to do his duty as the mission and nightmares finally came to an end
06:21for
06:22the tortured soul.
06:244. Jyn Erso And Cassian Andor Wait For The Inevitable
06:27Rogue One Outside of the odd dark detour partway through a trilogy,
06:31the minds behind various Star Wars offerings always seem to try their best to end one of
06:36their family-friendly features on as positive a note as possible.
06:39Gareth Edwards had other ideas, however.
06:41After giving Rogue One Watchers little choice but to fall in love with the likes of Jyn Erso
06:45and Cassian Andor during the rebel forces' attempts to get their paws on the Empire's Death Star plans,
06:50the director cruelly yet brilliantly decided to reward those brave freedom fighters with one of
06:55the most gut-wrenching beats in the galaxy for all of their Scarif scrambling troubles.
06:59As the frightening space station loomed into view over the planet, the last few flickers of hope
07:04were chillingly blocked out by this iconic superweapon. Witnessing its infamous green laser beam
07:09penetrate the surface of the orb, both Jyn and Cassian have little choice but to watch the beautiful
07:14Terra heading their way on the horizon, embracing each other as their final moments amongst the
07:19living are inevitably consumed by the incoming blast.
07:233. Darth Vader Shuts The Doors On Newt Gunray – Revenge of the Sith
07:27Hot on the heels of chopping his way through some younglings, a recently turned Anakin Skywalker is
07:32tasked with extinguishing the last few embers of the Separatist group on Mustafar. And in one
07:37particularly sinister beat, the Viceroy of the Trade Federation, Newt Gunray, likely very much
07:42realised what savagery was waiting around the corner. After welcoming the recently christened Lord
07:47Vader into their company, Skywalker unsettled all in attendance by slowly lowering the surrounding
07:52doors via the Force. Skip forward to the sight of Anakin easily slicing his way through the room,
07:57leaving only Gunray to beg for his life before referencing Lord Sidious's promises of peace in
08:02a hopeless late attempt to elicit some mercy in the barbaric fallen Jedi. In truth though,
08:07the Viceroy knew his time was up the second he witnessed his fellow Separatists be utterly
08:11butchered in this sealed makeshift tomb. 2. Satine Kryze Accepts Her Fate – The Clone Wars
08:20Heading on back to another devastating instance of life slipping away in the arms of a heartbroken
08:25entity, and to a moment that left many a Clone Wars die hard with their hearts in their mouths.
08:30With it again being highly unlikely that the pacifist ruler of Mandalore, Satine Kryze,
08:35would find her way out of the Clone Wars unscathed,
08:37fans suspected the worst as soon as Maul took his arch-nemesis' Bey hostage.
08:42And with Kryze no doubt being aware that her beloved would never succumb to the dark side,
08:46and give the unstable Dath and Miriam what he wanted,
08:49it's clear Satine was under no illusions what fateful event was heading her way as the Duchess
08:53writhed in pain mid-force choke. As Kenobi is helplessly forced to watch on,
08:58Maul impales the love of his life before his very eyes, with the two sharing a heartbreaking
09:02moment of realization as Satine lingers in the air with a darksaber through her midsection.
09:07Satine then left her dearest Obie with the devastating revelation of her always loving
09:12this tormented Jedi Knight.
09:151. Cad Bane knew Boba Fett was a killer – The Book of Boba Fett
09:19Cad Bane's recent re-emergence in the Star Wars universe as part of the Book of Boba Fett Disney Plus
09:24series was enough to very nearly melt the internet altogether. However, those who were angling to see
09:29the epic gunslinger stick around and act as a consistent thorn in the sides of Din,
09:33Jarin and Fett in the coming seasons, were ultimately left reeling by his sudden demise
09:38in the finale of said book. Never one to miss out on the chance to deliver a truly memorable one
09:43-liner
09:44though, Bane's final lesson of looking out for yourself being cut off by a stubborn Boba paves the
09:49way for a fittingly cold final utterance. Defiantly confessing I knew you were a killer moments before
09:55one last desperate attempt to incinerate his long-time rival is foiled by a spear through
09:59the chest. Does it get any cooler? Bane was well aware his days of bounty hunting were up,
10:04but still could not resist getting in the last word.
10:08And that's our list, know of any other epic I'm dead and I know it moments from Star Wars?
