I was exploring the forest floor and found an old, rotting log. When I shined my light inside a small hole, I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked like just a few bugs at first, but then I saw hundreds of them swarming together in the darkness.
These woodlice, or pill bugs, have completely taken over this naturally destroyed environment. They are nature's recyclers, breaking down the decaying wood. It’s amazing to see how they thrive in what looks like a severely damaged house for other creatures.
The environmental impact of these tiny isopods is actually huge. By eating the rotting wood, they return nutrients to the soil, helping the forest grow. It’s a hidden world right under our feet!
