00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:27I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain-Spanish. Spain-Spanish. Vamos a la playa
00:41de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Bader. Yeah. Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas. She's Cuban,
00:50right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay. This year marks 20 years since Brokeback Mountain.
00:56Are there any MM romance movies, shows, or books that have really stuck with you either
01:00growing up or recently? Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first things that
01:05you told me. Yeah. I love Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's his best work. I think
01:11that was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading men take on, you know,
01:17gay cowboys. It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call Me By Your Name, Moonlight,
01:22I think with Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house to the hood is what he said.
01:27That was already just a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having, you know, he said he wanted
01:33to redefine masculinity with that movie, which I thought was so cool.
01:36Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think, was like pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high
01:40school at that time. And I remember that being the first thing that felt like it was really a part
01:46of the cultural zeitgeist. And it also handled, like, it also handled queer stories in a really
01:52cool way where it was so under the surface and it made it so human, you know, which I think
01:59also
01:59was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in such a specific time and
02:05place and like letting them explore love. Right. What does SMUT mean to you?
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym. Sexy. This is going to be in relation to, um,
02:20into, uh, Ember and Ice. Um, sexy. Magic. Um, universe.
02:39I have no idea what did I say sexy magic universe
02:47titillating yeah we'll do that titillating oh you very publicly shot your shot for night wang
02:55which was extremely fun to watch have you been a dc fan and what is it like to see fans
03:00instantly
03:01rally behind you especially the ones that say you have the face the talent and the butt i will be
03:06completely honest i when i saw like some fan art of you as nightwing i was like blown away whoa
03:13like i i i mean you never know if that's going to come to fruition or not but yeah i
03:19see like
03:19someone did you in the comic book style i was like i see it right away wow yeah i would
03:25i would
03:25love to play him i love dc i love um i loved all like comic books that were true to
03:35the source
03:35material um and i think you know there are a lot of good filmmakers who like bring their own style
03:42to these you know beloved um um comics that i think it would be really great to work with them
03:49you know i'm not fully set on nightwing you know i'm open to other things um did you always want
03:55to be in like did is superheroes no always something that's been like i absolutely not it's just it's
04:03when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven so when like a guy like james gunn
04:07um or matt reeves you know comes to comics it i think that's what draws me um and and i
04:16heard james
04:16gunn is doing the the teen titans i know there's yeah but yeah james gunn he's in love with you
04:23true or false hudson is more like ilia in real life and connor is more like shane i think me
04:29and
04:29you are both like rose and i'm like svetlana i just said me and you are both like rose but
04:36i'm just
04:36i'm just parting ways that's so svetlana for you to say um i don't know i mean maybe i do
04:44feel like
04:44ilia i don't know i think that um i i'm i'm too sensitive or outwardly sensitive or don't have a
04:52lot of shame around emotion to be ilia i could be a little cocky like ilia yeah but beyond that
04:58it's
04:58like i think shane and ilia sort of share us you know a soulfulness that's kind of buried under all
05:04these you know walls and kind of um uh masks but i think i think underneath that what we both
05:12relate
05:12with both of them is you know the the heart and and their soul after rapping heated rivalry you two
05:19got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did that happen um i did i have a
05:26reason
05:26for coming up to vancouver i just want to come see yeah come hang out am i not good enough
05:30right
05:30come on yeah i just i don't know why for a second i was like i have something to do
05:34up there i have
05:35nothing to do in vancouver i was there so yeah i just went up to see um i just came
05:42up to see you
05:42we knew we wanted to get matching tattoos i hadn't gotten a tattoo in forever um and we were just
05:47shuffling through ideas and yeah i think you came up with sex but like we were both pitching ideas
05:53and then like one person would like them the other person wouldn't and then when you said sex sales
05:58i was like oh we were sold that's the first idea you've had that's good i think it's honestly my
06:02most well done tattoo as well so that feels good the front of my shin pull in here zoom in
06:10true or false you ate a pound of beef of ground beef a day while filming heated rivalry
06:16true um connor told me what his routine was and after i saw him in person um i asked him
06:23how he
06:24got to that size i thought he was taking illicit substances he wasn't he does it super clean
06:29sorry i mentioned illicit substances um but i have nothing to hide bring it on but he was so
06:39so i was like what are you eating freak i was like i'm eating and he just couldn't speak and
06:47he just kept doing that i was like i think that means ground beef um you're like that level of
06:53capability is what i need and then connor was actually the person who put me onto fiber because
06:57if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know ilia cheeks um and chests you need
07:04so much
07:04fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac arrest and you get carried out
07:10from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know pumped up pecs and a shut down
07:16you look you look good digestive system it's really unfortunate if it ends that way yeah yeah i actually
07:21um i'm gonna one up this true or false i actually think that we ate more than a pound of
07:26beef yeah
07:27because a pound of beef only has i think 84 grams of protein and you need a solid 200 if
07:33you're going
07:33our size and shape so sometimes i can eat two pounds of ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs
07:39yeah and so many salads i was having so much salad because by the end i got like gained 10
07:44pounds
07:45so like when i started shooting i was like and by the end i was like 10 pounds heavier
07:48and it was because of yeah you i mean you're very inspiring i'm glad that we had each other because
07:54it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were going back to our 12 hour
07:59days and
07:59then the gym and then like going back to a residence like alone it's really it's nice that
08:03i got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go from a fucking 11 hour
08:09day skating lesson
08:10and connor would go let's do legs and i and i looked him he's a madman that's how he has
08:16a butt
08:16he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and i was like what are
08:22you
08:22saying i okay i knew i had a responsibility to the people he's america's ass and i i take that
08:31very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations did you feel
08:37any pressure being bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the characters
08:41your own it's good i think to go into a project accepting that you know people might be disappointed
08:49especially with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions they've
08:52visioned they've envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos of these
08:57characters like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed
09:03all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and respect
09:12it show
09:13the respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it and
09:18see that enthusiasm i think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not
09:23like people might just hate this people might hate your casting or they might hate my casting
09:28i'm not going to expect anything more and uh i'm just going to do the best i can but you
09:34have really
09:34no metric of if people are going to be warm to your your take i really think at the end
09:40of the day all
09:40you can do is be really intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you
09:47know
09:47yeah and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well
09:55hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break it
10:00down for us it's not that lengthy yeah i always made fun of you for it too because i like
10:05honestly
10:06i'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but i was like yeah your skin routine
10:11and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay i'm going to tell you in the
10:16morning
10:16i use water to cleanse my face warm water and then i put on a glow toner but it's pretty
10:24dry it's not
10:25like i don't like when people have like dewy like if i see someone it looks like they just wore
10:28a face
10:29mask i'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and then come talk to
10:33me because i
10:34won't right now um and then so my toner and then i'll put on um a serum and then sunscreen
10:41and then
10:42sometimes instead of a serum i put on a moisturizer and then my pm routine is an oil cleanser you
10:48know to
10:48get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out um and then i'll either use like a cerave normal
10:55ass
10:55cleanser or i'll use like a poor shrinking cleanser that's their new that's their new slogan survey
11:02normal ass cleanser i think that is i yeah i also and then like a poor shrink or a poor
11:09shrinking
11:09cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum and then either a retinol or a salicylic
11:15acid and then i go to sleep so i think everyone in the studio agrees that was a lot well
11:23i will
11:23also say i mean it makes sense you have flawless skin so and then when i take it off it
11:29just falls
11:29apart yeah he unhooks the clip back here in the back keeps it all up connor yes story yes do
11:39you have
11:39a favorite spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember and ice what makes those stand
11:43out for you my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually a scene where dane um is with
11:50two
11:50former lovers cassandra and elijah yep
11:57i need you to i need you to be here with me okay um dane has an interaction with uh
12:05two of his former
12:06lovers um after having been with finn for some time and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends
12:15up
12:15realizing that what what really works for him isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of this moment
12:21of identity loss and you know what what pleases me isn't pleasing me the same i think that's really cool
12:27because it's also it's because it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it also is really revealing
12:33of the character and the connection and where he's at you know um and i think it's funny i think
12:38i
12:38remember dane saying something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing i did was i just
12:44had
12:44to come up with uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my friends i have bad news i
12:50have a lot from
12:51ember and ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in together and you kind of
12:57coax it out of
12:57me without spoiling too much i think that one's just you know a lot of times like the intimacy
13:03before intimacy i think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got me um frothing
13:10at the
13:10mouth and heated rivalry favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to film do you
13:17remember filming the stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never
13:22come apart me and you were like do people do this do people like i know it's always a fun
13:27balance
13:27right of like when you're filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming
13:33it's like how much of it is fun tv and then how much of it is like is like true
13:40sex because at the
13:41end of the day you know you do have in real life people do have those those like movie moments
13:46where
13:46you're like you know you're like yeah yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we
13:50i've done that and then connor and i were like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down
13:57then go we're both chain naked and go sex now sex now i'm robot plug me in true or false
14:05hudson's
14:06roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many times he flashed them do you know how many times i
14:14know
14:14that you i've yeah i remember this yep it's true it was one roommate um and i i mooned him
14:2131 times
14:22what was his reaction when you moved him was he like hudson her poor name was chelsea i i've talked
14:31with her and chelsea has been like you can say my name and i was like so i've since talked
14:35about this
14:35since double like uh double consent um and uh poor chelsea would just go i think her main reaction was
14:41like oh and it made me so happy where where is chelsea now and i i developed different techniques
14:53over the years um she's chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but i would
15:00go and i would do like a drive-by i had all these different techniques and then she would bring
15:03like
15:04other you know um romantic interests home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and
15:10they're like oh that's how many times hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would
15:15you just like kind of butt crack it or would you full so i had one where i would get
15:19pants low like
15:21i would de-pants and she would be unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and i would
15:26run by
15:26and jump in the air so i was like a like like a like a literal moon a literal moon
15:32but in fast
15:33motion sometimes i would just do the like oh drop something before we leave bend and i'm right there
15:39gotcha oh god
15:43yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were going to moon someone
15:48yeah a close friend chelsea is still my close friend make it and make it known that this is okay
15:52yep she got a do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as an asian
16:01actor
16:01leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward hmm yeah i i wanna i wanna represent my my wasians out
16:15there
16:15you know um i've been declared do you know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince of
16:23wajah
16:25me i mean i i sign off on it okay i think you he's the final stamp off guy for
16:30this so uh yeah
16:32i'm the ambassador of wajah as a fully as a completely caucasian yes but uh as as uh this um
16:41little wajah i am i hope to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to
16:50do roles that are you know race has something to to play in there but also i just want to
16:55be an actor
16:56and a lot of the times i just want to play parts where it's like i'm i'm just there and
17:01we don't need
17:02to go in my backstory or whatever it's just you know i'm playing with any other uh non
17:09person of color would play as well you know you're a person you want to be treated i'm a person
17:14love it baby on both heated rivalry and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator
17:20why do you think that role matters on projects like this was there anything about the process
17:24that you think would surprise people wow i mean i think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question
17:32is
17:32i mean it's so important i mean you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing
17:41that i think would shock people about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and
17:47this is what i learned from chayla originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the
17:52actual safety the boundaries monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay
17:59there's also actually a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know
18:07was also the voice that was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know
18:12you need to i need to hear that shiver or that i need to hear those um i need to
18:18hear that feeling
18:19through your wings i need to see that come about i need to feel that pleasure in this way so
18:25it's not
18:25always technical even though that's what i feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic
18:29sensibility to that job and that really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first
18:37ginger ale this is so fun we have canada dry we have schweps we have can you can someone give
18:44me a
18:44rundown of the brand nope you're gonna try it and we're gonna go i don't i've only named two from
18:49memory well how about this i'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything yep that's my hudson
18:59that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schweps or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada
19:16dry's got more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and should
19:23be de-blindful
19:28we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no way it says it says
19:37from frisco texas
19:39nope i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number two that is so
19:48embarrassing
19:50thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is this one i'm good
19:58um you're my baby drink more
20:03okay this is cough syrup this is this is yellow snow what is this a pissy pineapple but that's the
20:15brand hudson i have to guess the brand that bye yeah this is schweps okay this one is schweps
20:30i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong
20:34i'd feel like an idiot no i'm kidding
20:40stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up give me another one do you have more
20:46bring
20:47me bring in how many more bring in the last one bring it to me oh this one's a hard
20:55one thank you
20:59oh no
21:09that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer
21:17hudson what what what what there's a there's a secondary flavor
21:26do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but do like
21:30an aromatics test
21:34go full som vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell it's
21:41fucking ginger pear
21:43fucking it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to understand you can't taste
21:48that flavor at all let's see what blood orange good job you can't taste that at all you put food
21:55coloring in you didn't put no blood orange in there i will say i kind of like this one though
21:59that was that one's nice i like all of them but i guess the brand did i not you killed
22:04it
22:04when did you first realize you clicked and what are some of your favorite memories from working
22:10together i would say our first facetime outside of a chemistry read because at that point i was always
22:16shane he was always ilia but then when we first met over facetime before we went to toronto um
22:24we had so many like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked and
22:31similar
22:31approaches to how we you know like to perform um that i immediately knew i think we clicked there
22:38and i think that's saying a lot because i think some of our our interests can be pretty niche the
22:43fact
22:43that there is overlap is amazing yeah and favorite memories i would say all our laughs on set being in
22:51muskoka um was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know it was just great
22:59my favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an inside joke that we
23:05just died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also with oh yeah i
23:12would always be
23:12like storm the set if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just like do it like a
23:19cattle
23:19call we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport scenes and stuff where
23:24there would be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of people and we'd
23:28have
23:28like five people and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being like being like costumes get up there and
23:36everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage and just like
23:42opening it up to the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement
23:49i can't i honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know i like i
23:56think i look a little too shabby i'm i'm in the process of gaining weight you know now yeah i
24:01was
24:01when you look you look freaking fantastic well bring it back to most of them but just garage
24:10yeah um yeah i people people like our bodies let's just be honest about it people you know i care
24:20about my health i care about my fitness as do you um honestly watching the show is making us work
24:27out
24:27even more yeah so what drew you to doing a fae romantic story and what was it about the script
24:32that hooked you for me it was exploring sensuality with with your voice you know that's the only
24:40tool you have and it kind of scared me a little bit and you know that there it was a
24:45really fun
24:46way to explore yourself it was fun it was actually fun and you know it's very demanding and it's well
24:51written i think in the booth the term winged hemingway came up you know fantastical hemingway
25:01because there was like war there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed uh in a
25:09lot of ways um and that was way heavier than i thought you know this would look like and it
25:16was really
25:16rewarding the story just moves really well too um it was just written really well uh as someone who
25:24you know is not a big reader i think something like this would be really appealing to me um just
25:30the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years and point of view yeah yeah i
25:36just
25:36think it's really like almost physically well done why do you think mm romance resonates so strongly
25:42with women right now mm yeah we've we've both talked about this and kind of been intrigued by it
25:49um there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even just women you know there are straight
25:55women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer women it's it's um well that feels like
26:02a
26:02giant term to be like i know exactly why um you know there's like the element of you can live
26:08vicariously
26:09and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one opinion that i had never even considered
26:15or thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to which is if you are female um
26:21and you
26:22are you are taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's a spectatorship to that
26:31there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety you know like especially women
26:38um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially when it comes to sex and pleasure
26:43it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived out without um right female
26:51dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say that like when you see like
26:56a hetero
26:57um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to sort of relate with the woman character
27:04um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and two and like imagination a lot of writers you
27:10know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of outdated tropes um old archetypes and i
27:17think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they can kind of relate with this person in
27:21one
27:21moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced into a box of here this is your person to
27:26relate with at the end of the day though we're both men i have no idea what it's like to
27:31be a woman

31:04fine i'm invested in heated rivalry not because of their giant bouncy bullets but because it's a true
31:11yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i think that's that's
31:17probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies you're
31:21enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical intimacy
31:28isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics and character
31:33and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things jacob talks about
31:38this and that was one of the first things i think he brought to us um to try and explain
31:45his vision
31:46which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages it can sound very sex heavy
31:50but to
31:51know that the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship and how they connect um yeah i
31:58think that is i think that i think that's kind of you know for the first years of their life
32:03that's how
32:03they communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know that's not usually how sex is
32:08used in media yeah yeah me dear i need hudson williams to know that so many people imagine draw
32:15right and read about him getting pregnant including me is that crazy oh he knows and even comments on
