00:02Sancho, the last nine months were really difficult for you. You were moved down the batting order and then you
00:09came up again in New Zealand series and then there was pressure on you. The runs didn't come. Eventually, initially
00:14for the World Cup, you didn't make it to the playing XI. Finally, you did get your chance. So during
00:19that really difficult time, how did you stay motivated? Because you know, in the cricket, the chances don't come really
00:26that easily.
00:28Yes, I think that was very, very challenging for me. I think I definitely wanted to come and do what
00:36I'm trying to do now for the country, contribute and win games in the World Cup. But I think I
00:40was trying a bit too much in the New Zealand series. I wanted to make an impact and get into
00:44the XI of the World Cup here. But I think you know this format. I think this cricket can get
00:49very funny. Even the best in the world actually struggle to score runs in this format.
00:53So I think I had to respect the game. I had to come back to my basics, work a bit
00:58more from my basics. I think a lot of work did go really well. I think when hard times were
01:03coming, I think my close people, the people whom I love, whom I support, they were with me.
01:08And I closed all my windows. I shut down my phone. I was not in social media. I'm still not
01:13in social media. So less noise, less people interacting with me. So I think that really helped me to focus
01:20on the right direction. And I'm very happy how I'm going.
01:31I'm very grateful for that. So as soon as you get 3-4 ball, you can see that you try
01:51to attack.
01:52I'm very grateful for that. I'm very grateful for that. I'm very grateful for that. I'm very grateful for that.
01:55So the top 3 is all about going and exploding in the power play. So sometimes you actually end up
02:00on the negative side of the result. Sometimes you do this actually.
02:04You can't but change your character or change the game plan. Because we are batting till number 8 and batting
02:09is very low.
02:09So you try to play with the team. If you have a day, you take it. If you have a
02:15day, you take it. If you have a day, you take it. If not, you support it.
02:16You're a little bit more and more.
02:18One match, then you're a little bit more.
02:21You're a little bit more.
02:22T20 cricket is going anywhere else.
02:23I don't know.
02:24You're a little bit more.
02:27They were trying to come hard at us and then we got 3 wickets in the power play.
02:31Then I thought, okay, a little game is coming.
02:33But the way Bethel batted and the partnership which they had, I kind of felt here, no, it's still possible.
02:38They needed 13 runs per and over.
02:40They were getting two boundaries every year.
02:42It was very easy for them at the middle stage.
02:44But the way our bowlers came back, as in the quality which we have in Arshideep, in Hardik and Bumrah,
02:49you know it.
02:50He's a once in a generation bowler which we are very lucky to have.
02:54I think the way he bowled those six Yorkers in line, I think then you have kind of a confidence.
02:59You have confidence, but at the same time you have to give credit to the England batters also.
03:07The way they came up, the way they actually studied the condition.
03:11And I think we had a great game.
03:13You mentioned about reliance on Arshideep and Bumrah in the 17th and 18th.
03:18But can you just give a sense about the discussions that were going on about whether to use both of
03:22them in the 17th and 19th?
03:27Yeah, I think the game was going neck to neck and they were trying to actually get 13s, 15s in
03:35and over.
03:35But I think we knew that if we take the game till the end, I think they might actually get
03:40heavy on us.
03:41So I think we just wanted to finish off the game a bit earlier.
03:44So I think that's where we tried to bowl Bumrah and Ashideep and Hardik in those three overs.
03:49And that I think definitely played well today.
03:52We are taking care of all our players, to be very honest.
03:55We have a really great environment in the dressing room.
03:57Both of our leaders, GGI and Surya, has a lot of faith and confidence in Abhishek.
04:03And we try to actually help him in the way he actually requires.
04:06I think he has definitely gone through lots of ups and downs in his career.
04:09So he is also trying to find a way out and we all are with him.
04:13And I think it's just a matter of a couple of sixes.
04:15He hits in the middle and everything can change in this format.
04:18I think we still believe in him and we feel that I think final is going to be his day.
04:23I kind of feel that he is definitely going to come really great on the last day.
