J.S. Bach – Passacaglia in C Minor, BWV 582 (String Orchestra)

A passacaglia is a variation form where a melody is repeated as the foundation throughout the work. Most often the melody is presented initially in the bass line. In this work there are 20 variations. It was composed between 1706 and 1713. The first known printed edition appeared in 1850.
