Andrew Whitelaw and Matt Dalgleish from Episode 3 take to the stage to discuss AI and data as the conference wraps up.
Transcript
00:00OBEAR's Outlook 2026 is officially a wrap.
00:03We've had some great discussions and debate this afternoon
00:06about whether the future for Australia is free trade or protectionism.
00:11We've also had a great discussion about what the future holds
00:14for food security and policy.
00:16Thanks for tuning in and we want to hear your takeaways.
00:20If we look at things like trying to tell a story about agriculture
00:24and trying to tell a trip about agriculture,
00:26it can be helped with AI.
00:28But on the opposite side of things, when you go on social media,
00:33you don't know what the truth is anymore.
00:35You don't know what you can trust.
00:36I can trust Matt because I can physically see him.
00:39I can trust Claire because I can physically see them.
00:41But now when you go on social media,
00:43if you see a video of attacks in Iran,
00:46you don't know if it's real or fake.
00:48So now you don't know what you can trust.
00:51And I think that is what will be one of the key commodities
00:54for agriculture in the coming years is trust.
00:56And I think AI is going to be a big challenge
01:00in misinformation and disinformation.
01:02Data is cool and we love it.
01:05But even from just a farming perspective,
01:07to give data to a farmer,
01:08they don't have the time or the inclination
01:10to actually use it in a useful way just as the data.
01:13So it's really about turning that data
01:15into meaningful things that you can do decision-wise.
01:17this story is going to be a bad choice.
01:21You're welcome.
01:21And again,
01:21we'll be able to come back soon.
01:21You
