US President Donald Trump announced that he is cutting off all trade with Spain and threatened a full embargo after Madrid refused to allow American forces to use Spanish military bases for operations targeting Iran. Speaking during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump said the decision was in response to what he described as the Sánchez government’s ban on the use of bases for strikes linked to Iran.

00:00The head of NATO, Mark, is fantastic.
00:03Mark Ruta.
00:05I think he's fantastic.
00:07But some of the Europeans, like Spain, has been terrible.
00:10In fact, I told Scott to cut off all dealings with Spain.
00:16Spain, first of all, it started when every European nation,
00:20at my request, paid 5 percent, which they should be doing.
00:23And everybody was enthusiastic about it, Germany, everybody.
00:27And Spain didn't do it.
00:29And now Spain actually said that we can't use their bases.
00:34And that's all right.
00:34We could use their bases if we want.
00:36We could just fly in and use it.
00:38Nobody is going to tell us not to use it.
00:40But we don't have to.
00:41But they were unfriendly.
00:44And so I told him, we don't want to do it.
00:46Spain has absolutely nothing that we need other than great people.
00:49They have great people.
00:50But they don't have great leadership.
00:53And as you know, they were the only country
00:55that NATO would not agree to go up to 5 percent.
00:59I don't think they want to agree to go up to anything.
01:02They wanted to keep it at 2 percent.
01:03And they don't pay the 2 percent.
01:05So we're going to cut off all trade with Spain.
01:08We don't want anything to do with Spain.
01:10The Press.
01:14And I'm not, by the way, I'm not happy with the UK either.
01:19That island that you read about, the lease, okay, he made it.
01:22For whatever reason, he made a lease of the island.
01:25Somebody came and took it away from him.
01:28And it's taken three, four days for us to work out
01:33where we can land there.
01:34It would have been much more convenient landing there
01:35as opposed to flying many extra hours.
01:37So we are very surprised.
01:40This is not Winston Churchill that we're dealing with.
01:43The Press.
01:44What's your expectations towards Germany?
01:47What can Germany do and what should Germany do
01:50to help you in this country?
01:51The President Biden Well, I think they're doing it.
01:53I mean, they're letting us land in certain areas.
01:55And that's we appreciate it.
01:57And they're just making it comfortable.
01:59We're not asking them to put boots on the ground or anything.
02:01I mean, we're just they're a respected country.
02:05We I have a very good relationship with the country.
02:09We have in particular now with this leader, with this new leader.
02:13I think he's an excellent leader.
02:15I had my differences with Angela.
02:18I said, you're hurting your country with immigration
02:21and you're hurting your country with energy.
02:24And we have a man sitting on my right that is, I think,
02:28pretty much the opposite of her on energy
02:30and the opposite on immigration.
02:34And I think he's doing very well.
02:36The Press.
02:37The Press.
02:38The Press.
02:38The Press.
02:39The Press.
02:40Commercial air travel right now is severely restricted in the Middle East
02:43and thousands of Americans are stranded.
02:45Why wasn't there an evacuation plan?
02:47And will you send planes to get people out?
02:49President Biden Well, because it happened all very quickly.
02:51We thought, and I thought maybe more so than most.
02:55I could ask Marco.
02:56But I thought we were going to have a situation
03:00where we were going to be attacked.
03:01They were getting ready to attack Israel.
03:04They were getting ready to attack others.
03:07You're seeing that right now.
03:08And a lot of those missiles that are hitting in,
03:11those are stationary.
03:12Those were aimed there for a long period of time
03:13at these other countries.
03:15So I think I was right about that.
03:16We attacked first.
03:18And if we didn't, it could have been, you know,
03:20look, we're really decimating them.
03:23They're being decimated.
03:26And if we didn't, if we didn't, and by the way,
03:28we have massive amounts of ammunition.
03:31We have the high end.
03:33A lot of it was given away stupidly by Biden,
03:36very stupidly, for free.
03:38And I'm all for Ukraine, but they gave away a lot.
03:42As you know, when I give away ammunition,
03:44everybody pays for it.
03:45The European Union is paying for it.
03:46Then they can do what they want with it,
03:49but they are giving it, let's say, to Ukraine.
03:51And it's okay.
03:52But we gave away a lot of high end.
03:54But we have plenty.
03:56But we have unlimited middle and upper ammunition,
04:00which is really what we're using in this war.
04:03And we have really an unlimited supply.
04:07We also have a lot of the very high end stored
04:09in different countries throughout the world.
04:11With this, we're literally storing it there,
04:13which is actually something that I insisted on in my first term.
04:18I rebuilt the military in my first term.
04:20The military is great.
04:22A lot of, a lot, unbelievable amount of ammunition,
04:29or munitions, as they say, were given away to, you know,
04:33The Wall Street Journal incorrectly covered the story
04:35when they said that it was given away to the Middle East.
04:37Not to the Middle East, it was given away to Ukraine.
04:40Very little was given to the Middle East.
04:42The Middle East would buy a lot, and some of the nations,
04:45because they're rich, they have a lot, but it was given away to Ukraine.
04:50And it just should have been done.
04:53Look, it's a war that should have never happened.
04:55If I were president, that war would have never happened.
