U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Washington is not currently positioned to deploy ground forces in Iran, though President Donald Trump retains the option as fighting intensifies.

00:00The United States is not currently prepared to deploy ground forces in Iran, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
00:08He says U.S. President Donald Trump still has the authority to send troops if necessary,
00:13but the administration believes its goal can be achieved without boots on the ground.
00:19Right now we're not postured for ground forces, but obviously the president has those options.
00:23He's never going to rule out anything.
00:25But right now our focus is on the destruction of their ballistic missile launchers, their ballistic missile stockpiles,
00:31and their ballistic missile manufacturing capability, as well as their one-way attract drones and their navy,
00:36because of the threat it poses to global shipping.
00:39In Washington, Trump declined to rule out that option,
00:42warning that the escalating conflict in the Middle East could continue beyond a month.
00:47He described the current moment as what he called a final opportunity to halt Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program.
