00:05figures from the Met Office. Some counties saw the highest rainfall since records comparable
00:11to today began in 1836. Across the UK, rainfall was 13% above the long-term average, although
00:19still below the all-time high set in 2014. England overall was significantly wetter than
00:24usual, while Scotland finished the season below its average. Wales also recorded above-average
00:31rainfall. Forecasters say regional differences were marked, with southern and central areas
00:37particularly affected. Several named storms brought some of the dullest February conditions
00:42on record.
