A resident returned a nineteen thirty-four edition of Dogs and their Management over sixty years after it was due. Darlington Libraries waived any fines and shared the story online.

00:01Darlington Library has had a book returned more than 60 years late.
00:05The resident returned the copy of Dogs and Their Management by Frederick Cousins,
00:10originally due on the 8th of September 1962.
00:14The book, a 1934 edition of a title first published in 1858, was discovered in a loft.
00:21Back then, a pint of milk cost three pence, the average house price was £2,599,
00:27and a Ford Cortina was £597.
00:32Darlington Libraries confirmed the maximum fine per book at the time was two shillings sixpence,
00:38but no fines apply today.
00:40They welcome the return, sharing the story on social media.
