00:00Travel chaos is extending through the Middle East and beyond.
00:03Carriers across the Persian Gulf have extended blanket flight suspensions,
00:06causing major disruptions at some of the world's busiest airports.
00:10For more, we're joined by Bloomberg's Europe and Middle East
00:12airspace reporter Lina Al-Rashtan.
00:15Lina, thank you for joining us.
00:16So what airlines and airports have been impacted?
00:21Hi, Francine.
00:23We have the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain have all closed their airspace.
00:28Iran and Israel, obviously.
00:31These are massive disruptions at a scale unseen before.
00:34You have airports that are some of the busiest hubs in the world,
00:39the biggest international airlines halting operations.
00:42Some of the airports have been struck.
00:44They've all been evacuated.
00:46And airlines are extending the cancellations.
00:49It doesn't seem there's an end in sight.
00:51And there are thousands of people stranded,
00:55thousands of airlines that are thousands of flights that have been canceled.
00:59And this is rippling through the industry.
01:02You can see Lufthansa is down this morning, Cathay, Singapore.
01:06This is going to have ripple effects over globally.
01:10So, Lina, what will be the aftermath of the disruption?
01:16I mean, even if airspace is open, the airports are still, they have damages.
01:23The airlines have to evacuate people who are still in the country.
01:29I mean, they have to bring back passengers who are stranded abroad.
01:33They have to bring back their carriers.
01:36I mean, most of the Emirates Airbus A380s are not even in Dubai.
01:41So, we're talking about disruptions that are going to last for at least a few weeks.
01:47And the financial impact is going to be very large.
01:49If you look back at when the floods happened with Emirates,
01:52they lost about $100 million.
01:54And that was just, that was on a much smaller scale.
01:58So, there's going to be hundreds of dollars,
02:00hundreds millions of dollars in impact.
02:02And that's just, yeah.
