Iran's deputy justice minister condemns US-Israeli attacks
Transcript
00:22What we witnessed yesterday in Tehran is, in fact, a clear violation of the United Nations
00:27Charter, specifically, a direct breach of the principle prohibiting the use of force.
00:32What has occurred is an extremely dangerous development in international law.
00:37This action by the Zionist regime sends a message to the world that the use of force
00:42can be normalized, and that is deeply concerning.
00:45When we look at this incident, along with other examples, including the 12-day war launched
00:49against us, it becomes clear that the United States and the Zionist regime do not have
00:54much faith in negotiation.
00:56Their belief appears to be in power as the primary means of resolving disputes.
01:00One very important message that can be drawn from these actions is the revival of an arms
01:05race in the region.
01:06Of course, under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Iran's right to self-defense is preserved,
01:12and Iran has the legal right to defend itself and take military actions.
01:36At the outset, this incident constitutes a violation of the four Geneva Conventions and explicitly
01:42breaches the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
01:45Unfortunately, the United States is not a party to that convention.
01:48It is worth noting that the Convention on the Rights of the Child is considered one of the
01:52most important human rights treaties in international law.
01:56Iran and the Zionist regime are both parties to it, but the United States, unfortunately, is
02:01not.
02:01It is also noteworthy that almost three years ago, the Chinese government, in diplomatic
02:06discussions, urged the United States to accede to the Convention on the Rights of the Child
02:11and accept its obligations.
02:12Targeting this school constitutes a clear violation of the additional protocols to the
02:17Geneva Conventions, particularly the Fourth Convention, as well as Article 38 of the Convention
02:22on the Rights of the Child.
02:23In any case, countries who respect human rights and are concerned about it should condemn this
02:28action.
