43:47But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
43:52My parents were both junior hockey coaches.
43:56And they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
44:02Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:05Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
44:11I didn't have anybody else to help me.
44:15I had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
44:22St. Thomas filled it with hope.
44:25The hope of a new family.
44:28Things weren't always easy.
44:30You know, they never are for anybody.
44:32But in hockey, I found what I was missing.
44:37First at my high school, then later at college, and now here with the admirals.
44:42And I never looked back, because I never had to.
44:49The family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today.
44:56Hockey gave it to me.
44:58And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
45:02So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight.
