00:05Iranian journalist and geopolitical analyst Alain Abedini warned in an interview with Brazil de facto
00:11that if Washington chooses war, Israel would be a legitimate target and U.S. allies will pay the cost.
00:18Journalist Mauro Ramos had the report.
00:21In recent weeks, the United States has carried out a large-scale military mobilization in the Middle East,
00:27the largest concentration of U.S. forces in the regions since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
00:34Amid this military pressure, Iran's foreign minister, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, left for Geneva on Wednesday.
00:42He is taking part in the third round of indirect nuclear talks with the United States, mediated by Oman.
00:50Iranian international relations analyst and journalist Alain Abedini told Telesur that even if an agreement is reached,
00:57she believes it will likely to be short-term.
01:00She says the ultimate goal for the United States remains military intervention in her country.
01:06She says the ultimate goal for the United States remains military intervention in her country.
01:12Abedini is one of the journalists that survived the Israeli attack in June 2025 on the Tehran headquarters of IRIB,
01:21Iran's state broadcasting network.
01:23Iran always tries to use a diplomatic tool and tries to make dialogue,
01:30but actually every time we see how the United States tries to get more and more from Iran.
01:44When we talk about nuclear issues, they're talking about missile program of Iran.
01:50When we talk about, even if we talk about missile program, they would talk about the region,
01:58about its, what they call proxies, but we do not consider it as a proxies,
02:05but they talk about these issues.
02:07I mean, they are not stopping.
02:10They, every time they want more and more.
02:13In his address to Congress this week, Trump said he prefers diplomacy with Iran.
02:18But Abedini exposes the double standard.
02:21While Washington talks negotiations, she says it actively promotes destabilization inside the country.
02:27In January, Foreign Minister Abbas Arachie publicly accused the CIA and Mossad of involvement in actions across Iranian cities.
02:38Israeli media reports are replete with allegations that Israel planned and conducted operations in Iran.
02:44Mr. Mike Pompeo, who was director of the CIA during the first Trump administration,
02:49said on Twitter,
02:50Happy New Year to all Iranians in the streets,
02:53and also to all Mossad agents walking alongside them.
02:57It is evident that Mossad agents attempted to direct the terrorist acts.
03:02Elhan Abedini says two years of genocide in Gaza,
03:06carried out by Israel with unwavering U.S. support,
03:10have exposed what was always behind the Global North's human rights rhetoric.
03:15Even Donald Trump, during these terrorist activities,
03:19he tweeted that the help is underway.
03:21Where is that help?
03:22If that help would be for Iranian people,
03:25that I'm not agreeing with that,
03:27but where was that help?
03:30Maybe these kind of aircraft and what is in the region,
03:36these are for Iranian people,
03:38this is for helping people.
03:40Abedini acknowledges there may be management problems in Iran,
03:44but insists the country's economic hardship
03:46is a direct result of U.S. and allied sanctions.
03:50Even in recent months,
03:54how much the medicine prices get higher?
03:59Although Iran has insurance
04:02and the government tried to actually manage the prices,
04:07but for some of patients,
04:10especially for cancer,
04:11their hemophilia,
04:13that their medicine are,
04:14we have to import their medicine,
04:17we face a real problem
04:19and the cost would be so high
04:21and many patients just pass away
04:25because of these sanctions.
04:27Some of these medicines,
04:30even we do not access to them,
04:32even in higher prices,
04:33we do not access to them
04:35and we cannot import that.
04:37Abedini was inside the RIIB headquarters
04:40on June 16, 2025,
04:43when Israeli missiles struck the building.
04:46Three people were killed,
04:47several wounded.
04:48She says the attack was no exception.
04:51The most important issue,
04:54even more important,
04:57that they strike against the RIB building
05:00is that we knew that,
05:02we knew that it could be a target
05:07for the Israeli regime
05:09because of experience,
05:11because of the history,
05:12because we saw that,
05:14how the Israeli regime
05:17actually targets the journalists
05:19and the media centers
05:21during this war
05:22and genocide against Gaza
05:24and even before that
05:25in Syria, in Lebanon.
05:27And this is the most catastrophic thing
05:31that everybody knew
05:33that anything can happen
05:36from Israeli regime
05:37and nowhere is safe
05:40from Israeli regime.
05:42Beijing Telesur, Mauro Ramos.
