00:00A new explosion was again recorded at Canlaon Volcano last night, startling residents in the surrounding areas.
00:06The possible reason to this, according to FIVOX, is a blockage in the volcano's conduit.
00:12Rod Lagusad has the full details.
00:16Last night, residents living around Mount Canlaon were caught off guard by its eruption.
00:21Footage from FIVOX shows the volcano's eruption, including the release of lava from its crater.
00:26According to FIVOX, the moderately explosive eruption occurred at past 7 in the evening.
00:32In an interview with PTV, FIVOX Director Teresito Bakolkol said the eruption lasted for about 2 minutes.
01:06He said that because of this, once the pressure increased, it resulted in an explosion.
01:11Bakolkol compared it to opening a bottle of soft drink that suddenly overflows.
01:15As a result, the plume reached a height of 2.5 kilometers and drifted in a southwest direction.
01:20Because of this, several towns were affected.
01:41Due to the incident, a grass fire was also recorded in La Carlota, Negros Occidental, caused by hot rocks from
01:47the volcano.
01:48Meanwhile, the volcano's activity continues.
01:50This morning past 9.30, an ash emission occurred at the volcano and lasted until almost 11 in the morning.
01:56This produced a plume of ash reaching about 1 kilometer high, which drifted toward the southern side of the volcano.
