00:00Intense. That's how the Iranian foreign minister described the latest round of talks with the United States.
00:06The two countries spoke in Geneva, trying to hash out a deal to end Iran's nuclear program.
00:12While a breakthrough has yet to be made, the two sides will keep negotiating.
00:16Analysts say that's a good thing.
00:18The fact that the U.S. negotiators are returning and these talks will continue, maybe even beyond today, is a
00:25good sign.
00:26The next round of talks will take place in Vienna.
00:29Iran's nuclear program has been a sticking point for the U.S. for decades now.
00:34In his latest State of the Union address, U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to end Iran's nuclear program
00:40and has not ruled out force as an option.
00:43My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy.
00:47But one thing is certain, I will never allow the world's number one sponsor of terror, which they are by
00:53far, to have a nuclear weapon.
00:55Can't let that happen.
00:56The U.S. wants Iran to stop enriching uranium, a process which makes fuel for nuclear power, but can be
01:03further refined to make nuclear bomb materials.
01:06Iran has denied intentions to build such weapons, but ending the program could be Tehran's bargaining chip for economic relief.
01:13Iran would still expect economic incentives, and that would have to come in the form of U.S. sanctions relief.
01:20But there, the parties can get creative, and there could be joint economic and commercial projects that could be defined.
01:27The possibility of another Middle East conflict hangs overhead as Trump has dispatched vast military assets to the region.
01:35But the preferable, less costly, and more sustainable option remains the diplomatic one.
