00:01A shocking discovery as crews were digging out of the blizzard, a body was found buried in the snow at
00:07this 55-plus complex in Deer Park.
00:09A neighbor who didn't want to show her face on camera says she heard the commotion.
00:13And I heard the shoveling, so what I did was I came to the door and they're telling me, there's
00:19a dead man in the snow, there's dead, I go, what?
00:23Police say the man was found dead just before 4 p.m. on Monday on Park Center Drive.
00:27One of the workers contracted to shovel the complex says he saw the body.
00:32The guy is working like this and they will touch you.
00:36If you need to see what happened, what's that?
00:39And then you see the head there.
00:41Police have not identified the person and would only say it's a male.
00:44Neighbors say they believe they know who it is.
00:46They say he lives in the complex near where he was found.
00:49I walk in the same spot.
00:51As the residents dealt with the death, they were also dealing with the piles of snow still unplowed.
00:56It's unacceptable.
00:58It was nearly waist high in some parts of the complex Tuesday.
01:0162-year-old Frank DeConta struggled to get to and from his home.
01:05Residents of the complex say the unshoveled and unplowed snow is a safety concern,
01:10where in some cases the snow is blocking their front doors and they're unable to get out of their homes.
01:15The man, he's literally trapped.
01:16He's in a wheelchair and the snow is over his, it's about five feet in front of his door, five
01:21feet high.
01:22Resident Eddie Velasquez was unable to open his door.
01:28In Deer Park, Suffolk County, Logan Crawford, News 12.
01:32That is a problem, especially for that community.
01:34Now we reached out to the property manager for comment on the body that was found
01:38and about safety concerns related to shoveling the snow.
