Royal Canin follows three very different dogs, Rosie, Matsu and Casper on their journey to Crufts, revealing how tailored diets support focus, stamina, coat condition and overall wellbeing. From scent detection to show-ring presentation and frontline service, Crufts celebrates the extraordinary diversity of dogs. Yet one principle remains constant in preparation for the show: every breed, every role and every life stage has unique nutritional needs. It starts with good food.

00:01I'm Marianne Stokes. My kennel name is Anamar. I show, exhibit and breed Bichon Frise.
00:08I am Chief Inspector Dan Lowe of Westminster Police. I'm part of the operations department and head of the dog
00:14unit.
00:16Hi, my name's Claire and I'm one of the trainers here at Medical Detection Dogs.
00:20So getting ready for Crufts for me isn't just about the day. It's about health, wellbeing and nutrition.
00:25Matsu is 15 months old. She qualified for Crufts in Finland.
00:31Nutrition is really, really important to any dog but particularly show dogs and I take it as priority.
00:38Good nutrition in a Bichon will give that beautiful black nose, the good pigmentation, keep their faces nice and clean,
00:45keeps their teeth healthy, nice bright eyes and a beautiful, beautiful coat.
00:52Rosie's been with the charity since she was eight weeks old and I've been training with her in the Bio
00:55Detection Department for three years now.
01:03So she's ready for Crufts with lots of training, get her nice and groomed and the nutrition provided by Royal
01:09Cannon really helps her with that.
01:11It's about the strength, the wellbeing and the nutrition. Casper is a very young, energetic dog, very muscular, very explosive
01:19energy.
01:20The nutrition they need, that stamina, that energy, that mental strength is critical but very, very different.
01:26So they eat differently, they perform differently. They're almost like athletes.
01:31It's not just a one-stop shop getting a dog ready for Crufts, it's a perpetual weekly thing.
01:37We bath weekly, we call it maintenance bath in the coat. It's hugely important to the Bichon Frise.
01:43We trim them weekly but we call it tipping, so we just tip off the very, very ends
01:48and then before the show we put a bit more shape into them and then we get them all show
01:53ready.
01:55I love working with Rosie because she's always so focused, she loves what she does and it's just always such
02:00a fun day working with her.
02:02It's critical that they're in a top form, that they're fed correctly, so they can keep the streets of the
02:07West Midlands safe.
02:08When you put them in the show ring and you look at your photographs back, it's really heart-jerking really
02:13just to see how beautiful they look
02:15and that's all the work that you've put into them.
02:17I wish for coil instapsed any more.
02:21I wish you still in any ombre memories.
