00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Pokemon Evolution
00:12Scenes We Didn't See Coming.
00:2010.
00:22Serena's Delphox As Serena's first partner Pokemon, seeing Fennekin
00:26evolve into Braixen was one of the most memorable scenes in Pokemon XY.
00:37It would remain a Braixen even all the way up to Serena's departure from Asha's group
00:42as she set off to travel around Hoenn.
00:45That's why we were incredibly surprised to find out it had undergone evolution when
00:50Serena returned in Reuniting for the first time.
01:02Now at Delphox, the fire and psychic type Pokemon competes in the Lilycove City Pokemon Contest
01:08Spectacular, securing her partner a tie for first place.
01:21After some creepy scenes that see a doll using telekinetic powers against a member of the
01:27Saffron City Gym, Ash immediately challenges Sabrina to a Pokemon battle.
01:32Even before things heat up, Abra is absolutely clowning on Pikachu by dodging its attacks.
01:49Somehow all this trolling leads to what happens next.
01:52Sabrina uses her own psychic powers to suddenly evolve her Abra into Kadabra.
02:09We're not sure how she managed this, as we've never seen a Pokemon evolving due to a human's
02:15psychic abilities.
02:17But if she's trying to flex here, consider us impressed.
02:32Number 8 – Brock Steelix Brock's Onyx was one of the first Pokemon Ash ever battled against,
02:40using its ground type to its advantage over Ash's Pikachu.
02:50Onyx would go on to join Brock in his journey with Ash.
02:53That is, until the Pokemon Chronicles episode, A Family That Battles Together, Stays Together.
02:59Here, Brock leaves Onyx with his brother Forrest, who is taken on the role of gym leader at Pewter
03:05City.
03:06Speaking of which, Onyx, you mind sticking around here and teaching Forrest a thing or two?
03:11When Brock finally returns during the Ruby and Sapphire series, he discovers that Onyx
03:17has actually evolved into Steelix during his time away.
03:20We're guessing Forrest must have handed Onyx a metal coat at some point.
03:28Number 7 – Misty's Polytoed When both Ash and Tracy are paralyzed by Vileplume's
03:34stun spore, Misty encounters a friendly polywag while searching for the salveo weed to cure them.
03:40Not only did it help her find the herbal medicine, but it would go on to join her.
03:50It would later evolve into Poliwhirl, becoming a key part of her team.
03:54But after losing to a Poliwrath, Misty seriously considered evolving it in order to match its
04:00might.
04:01Without anyone knowing, the Poliwhirl holds onto the King's Rock that Ash had won at a
04:06tournament, leading to a huge surprise when Misty sends it out of its Pokeball in a battle
04:11against Team Rocket.
04:17It evolves into Politoed, a green frog-like Pokemon which is in very stark contrast to
04:23Poliwrath.
04:25Politoed!
04:26Friendly little guy!
04:28Number 6 – Ash's Kingler When Ash opted to draft in his boxed Krabby for
04:33the Pokemon League, we were shocked.
04:36After all, we were shown how pathetically small it was compared to Garry's.
04:40That's when the awesome surprises began, however.
04:43First, Krabby was able to strategically take out Manny's Exeggutor.
04:55There must have been a staggering amount of experience points, as just like that, in his
05:00very first battle, Krabby was able to evolve into the imposing Kingler.
05:10After that, Kingler was easily able to team-sweep the rest of Manny's line-up.
05:22Number 5 – Cameron's Lucario In the quarter-finals of the Unova League, Ash
05:28dukes it out against one of his rivals, Cameron.
05:30The battle is neck-and-neck throughout most of it, and it all comes down to Cameron's
05:35final Pokemon, Riolu.
05:37Just as it looks like Ash's Snivy is going to claim the win, Riolu evolves out of nowhere
05:43after some encouragement from Cameron.
05:56With its newfound strength, Lucario not only defeats Snivy but also Pikachu, knocking Ash
06:03right out of the tournament.
06:10Honestly, this sudden evolution almost feels unfair, especially when you consider how powerful
06:16Lucario's can be.
06:21Number 4 – Ash's Naganadel Originally from an alternate dimension within Ultraspace,
06:28Ash caught Poipole after Lusamine suggested he take care of it.
06:31Later down the line, after defeating Necrozma, Poipole tearfully leaves Ash in an extremely
06:37emotional farewell and returns to its home.
06:48Unfortunately, this isn't the last time we'd see the poison-type Pokemon.
06:52During Ash's confrontation with a Guzzlord, a wormhole breaks through the sky and a Naganadel
06:58emerges from it.
07:11It doesn't take long for Ash and Pikachu to realize that it's actually Poipole who had
07:16evolved during their time away.
07:22Number 3 – Go's Raichu We've had the ironclad rule that Ash's Pikachu
07:28refuses to evolve hammered into our heads so many times over the years that this evolution
07:33almost feels sacrilegious.
07:35In the episode, Gotta Catch a What?, Ash's partner and co-protagonist Go catches his very
07:41own female Pikachu.
07:49Just as we thought the series would start featuring two Pikachus from this point, Go's suddenly
07:55evolves into a Raichu in the very same episode after grabbing a Thunderstone.
08:08Seriously, seeing a Pikachu evolve in the anime just feels weird.
08:17Number 2 – Maze Venusaur Throughout Maze's journey to become a top coordinator,
08:22Bulbasaur was a key partner in the Pokemon contest she competed in.
08:27In the latter half of the Ruby and Sapphire series, while we're in Kanto, May decides
08:32to leave her Bulbasaur at Professor Oak's lab in order for it to learn from the OG Ash's
08:37Bulbasaur.
08:38We wouldn't see Bulbasaur again until well after May herself left Ash's party.
08:43By the way, would you like to leave your Bulbasaur here with me?
08:46Yeah!
08:47I'm sure with Ash's Bulbasaur living here, not only will it learn a lot, it'll have
08:52fun too!
08:53In the episode, Pruning a Parcel of Pals, May's Bulbasaur makes their long-awaited return.
08:59Except, while they were off-screen, they've surprisingly evolved two stages up into a Venusaur.
09:09We're not sure what exactly Ash's Bulbasaur had taught them, as they themselves refused
09:14to evolve.
09:21It looks like it's trying not to evolve!

09:421.
09:43Ash's Quilava
09:45Cyndaquil was a main part of Ash's team all the way back in the gold and silver era of
09:50episodes.
09:51But, like quite a few of the starters Ash had in his team over the years, it never evolved.
10:03Fast forward over 500 episodes later and Ash decides to use Cyndaquil in the episode An
10:10Old Family Blend for the Lily of the Valley Conference.
10:13After getting separated from Ash, Cyndaquil battles against one of Team Rocket's mechs and ends
10:19up evolving during the battle.
10:27The freshly evolved Pokemon manages to put them away with its newly learned move, Eruption.
10:34To put things into perspective, it took over 10 real-world years for Cyndaquil to finally
10:40evolve.
