00:00I know before you landed this role, Shailene Woodley was on your list of top three actors.
00:06How did she surprise you as a scene partner?
00:08I'm such a fan of Shailene. I think she's honestly, genuinely one of the best actors.
00:15And so when I heard that she was doing it, I was so excited, but I was so nervous.
00:20Like I really was nervous to work with her because I look up to her so much.
00:24And I mean, we're quite close in age and I just loved what she's done with her career, with her
00:30gift.
00:32So even just meeting her, honestly, I mean, you meet famous people all the time and people on TV, but
00:38there are certain people where you're like, oh, and she was one of them.
00:44Just the nicest woman. Honestly, so, so lovely, so genuine and really, really, really kind.
00:51And just a really beautiful heart. It was a dream, honestly. It really, really was.
00:56And a lot of the time I wouldn't speak that much. I'd kind of listen more.
01:03Honestly, because she'd come up with these little just tweaks and these little notes, not even pertaining to my character,
01:10but just the scene in general.
01:12And she just has such a good eye and understanding of the text and the story.
01:18One of the standout scenes that I wanted to ask about is when Link and Annie share this very loaded,
01:23intimate moment and sort of break down crying in each other's arms,
01:26just taking in how long it's been since they experienced like a human touch and connection.
01:32It's been a while.
01:33Yeah. Yeah.
01:42How did you prepare for seeing that emotional?
01:44If I can paint the picture for you, this is the first scene that we're shooting on a TV show
01:49that I loved with a showrunner that I've always wanted to work with opposite an actor who is my top
01:56three.
01:56It was a lot, you know, there's a lot of emotions and a lot of anxieties surrounding that.
02:04But we just got in the room and she's so good.
02:08She just, something just clicks and she just drops in and she takes you with her.
02:15And there's just such the release.
02:17And I guess what I did prior was all I had to do was kind of build up these, these
02:23stakes, the three years, how that defines and can change someone, can harden someone, you know.
02:33And that first touch, really just this beautiful moment where we touch and I felt it ripple through my whole
02:43body and that like melting away of all those barriers that Link had created.
02:51And testament to Shailene, you know, it was a one take as well.
02:56Crazy. It was really, really special.
