00:00Hi there, I'm back again talking about the intermediate rhythms that you need to play
00:06the guitar well. So, once again, an essential reminder here, you must be comfortable with
00:13the fundamental or beginner rhythms. So, common time, march, waltz, syncopated, ballad and
00:20swing. If you're not fully comfortable and intuitive with these rhythms, the intermediate
00:28rhythms you may find a little bit too difficult. But if you have those six rhythms fully down
00:34and fully comfortable, then these intermediate rhythms then shouldn't be a problem. Okay,
00:40so let's get stuck straight into it. So, I'm looking at what I call the intermediate syncopated
00:47or what I often call the disco syncopated because it's fast-paced and you usually find it in
00:55disco songs. So, here it is. There we go. So, quite fast, heavily syncopated. There are
01:06two syncopations in this rhythm. So, once more. And you may find that you'll need me to go slower
01:18on that because it is very quick. Now, in my method of teaching this rhythm, often you find
01:29it's a little bit too difficult on the first attempt. So, you can, in fact, split the rhythm
01:35in two halves and learn it in two halves. So, here's the first half.
01:43At this point, it feels like there's a very small pause for around roughly one beat or just shy
01:50of one beat. And then the second half goes. So, the two halves again. All complete there.
02:03Half one. Second half. Put those together and you have the intermediate syncopated or the
02:15disco syncopated. You'll need to be super relaxed with your wrist. If you're strumming from the
02:23elbow in any way, that's far too cumbersome and you won't be able to play this rhythm up
02:29to speed. So, always with a turn of the wrist. There you go. And the song that you will be
02:36studying at this point will be I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. A quick demonstration on that.
02:53Et cetera. So, one more time. The intermediate syncopated or the disco syncopated.
03:01Et cetera.
03:02And one more time. A touch slower.
03:04Et cetera.
03:06Et cetera.
