00:03New York Mayor Zoran Mamdani talking about police officers pelted with snowballs by an unruly mob over the weekend.
00:10The police commissioner says officers were injured and called the act criminal.
00:15But here's what the mayor feels about the situation.
00:19The head of the PVA says that the people who were involved in attacking the police officers
00:25should be charged criminally with assault on a police officer.
00:29I wonder if you agree with that, if those people can be identified.
00:33I don't. From the videos that I've seen, it looks like a snowball fight.
00:38I think that there were two officers who were facing lacerations on their face.
00:42Will you call for prosecution of those who pelted them?
00:45Look, I've seen the videos of this snowball fight. I think that it was a snowball fight.
00:50The NYPD says no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
00:56Elections have consequences, Sandra.
00:57Absolutely. And, you know, as I look at that video, I don't see police throwing snowballs at anybody.
01:06That would make it a snowball fight.
01:08But I do see them resisting the snowballs getting thrown into their face.
01:12And as even the mayor admitted, some of these officers were injured. It's just horrible to see this, John.
01:18So, you know what? I mean, it's a snowball fight when NYU students, because this was Washington Square Park,
01:24NYU students or others are throwing snowballs at each other.
01:28But you throw anything, anything at a police officer, that's an assault against a police officer.
01:34So throwing a snowball at them, that's assault on a police officer.
01:39I think Jessica Tish feels completely differently about this.
01:42She's the NYPD commissioner than Mayor Zoran Mamdani does.
01:45However, it would be the Manhattan prosecutor, Alvin Bragg, who would have to go after the perpetrators.
01:52And what's the likelihood of that?
01:54That is just terrible. Seeing that happen right here to our New York's finest, Men in Blue, in New York

02:02Yeah, and the reason they're there is that there was a 911 call.
02:05People called and said that the snowball fight was getting out of hand, that people were unruly.
02:09And so the police officers were called in, and then this is the treatment that they get.
02:14All right. So we'll continue to see where that goes. We know the mayor's response.
