00:00The first BAFTA of the night for a vital part of moviemaking.
00:05We're here to...
00:07Celebrities are reacting to this shocking outburst at the 2026 BAFTAs.
00:11While presenting an award, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo had the N-word thrown at them.
00:16The racial slur came from Tourette's activist John Davidson,
00:20whose life story was dramatized in the BAFTA-nominated movie, I Swear.
00:24For people suffering from Tourette's syndrome, verbal tics are out of their control.
00:28However, Jamie Foxx felt differently.
00:31He commented on Instagram,
00:35Foxx's comments got thousands of likes.
00:38Actor Wendell Pierce added to the outcry, tweeting,
00:53Also on X, Sinner's production designer Hannah Beachler called it,
00:58an impossible situation, but also said host Alan Cummings' quote,
01:02throwaway apology made it worse.
01:04You may have heard some strong and offensive language tonight.
01:07We apologize if you were offended.
01:10Davidson's tics could also be heard when he told BAFTA chair Sarah Putt to shut the f*** up
01:15during her intro speech, and when he shouted,
01:18f*** you at the directors of Boom, when they accepted the award for best children's and family film.
01:23That said, it was a good night for Robert Aramayo, the actor who played John Davidson on the big screen.
01:29He won the Rising Star Award and asked the world for better understanding of the disability he portrayed on film.
01:36John Davidson is the most remarkable man I've ever met.
01:40He's so forthcoming with education that he believes there's still so much more that we need to learn about Tourette's.
01:49And tonight, especially, I just want to say that for people living with Tourette's,
01:52it's us around them that help define what their experience is.
01:57So to quote the film, they need support and understanding.
02:01Aramayo was also stunned when he took home the best actor BAFTA,
02:05beating out A-listers like MBJ, Timmy, and Leo.
02:08And the BAFTA goes to Robert Aramayo from I Swear.
02:19Well, um, um, I can't, I absolutely can't believe this.
02:26I can't believe that I'm looking at people like you and I'm in the same category of you.
02:30As for the real-life Davidson, he reportedly left the show early during the second half of the ceremony.
02:35A source told Variety that BAFTA producers did not ask him to leave and that he did it voluntarily.
02:41A source told Variety that he didn't have a much to support.
02:42I could, as I said, 9-4-2-1.
02:42But he knows what he says, he has a lot of money.
02:42Like, I'm not sure.
