00:01A hot air balloon was forced to make an emergency landing in a paddy field at Kampung Pisang,
00:07Kota Sarang Simut, on Monday to avoid drifting out to sea.
00:11Kota Setar District Police Chief, ACP Syed Basri, Syed Ali said police received a report
00:17at about 12.12pm from a villager who reported that a hot air balloon had landed in the fields.
00:24Investigations revealed the balloon had taken off from Pendang Mini Stadium at 6.30am
00:29and was flying according to the wind direction.
00:32However, the two crew members were forced to land in an open paddy field
00:37to prevent strong winds from carrying the balloon towards the sea.
00:41After landing, the two crew members, along with two others in a four-wheel drive vehicle,
00:46packed up the equipment and returned to Beritam, Penang.
00:49No injuries or property damage were reported.
00:53Further investigations found that the balloon belongs to a water-themed park resort
00:57and did not have permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia
01:02or Air Traffic Control to operate in Kadar airspace.
01:06They were only authorised to fly within Taiping airspace in Perak.
01:10The case has been referred to CAAM for further action.
