00:00All units of the Philippine National Police or PNP are now on heightened readiness following the upcoming hearing of the
00:08International Criminal Court or ICC in connection with the case of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:13According to PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartates Jr., the PNP is currently monitoring possible large-scale gatherings to
00:21ensure peace and order.
00:23Nartates has also ordered regional units to pre-position civil disturbance management teams and ensure that medical emergency responders are
00:32on standby for possible rallies.
00:34The former President will undergo a pre-trial confirmation of charges hearing at the ICC in The Hague in connection
00:41with allegations of crimes against humanity linked to his anti-drug campaign starting today, February 23.
00:48The four-day hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial against the former President.
00:55Meanwhile, the NCRPO is now on full alert for planned protest actions related to EDSA People Power Anniversary and the
01:03Trillion Peso March.
01:04More than 13,000 police officers will be deployed by the PNP to maintain security.
01:09Our posture is clear. We respect constitutional rights. We ensure public safety. And we enforce the law without bias.
01:22To all deployed personnel, remain professional, neutral, and disciplined. Exercise maximum tolerance. Avoid unnecessary confrontation. Do not be provoked.
